I use it loosely, bearing in mind Trump is 'leader of the free world'

Boris & Fox are to join forces in a leadership takeover
  4. It's got that 'Non stop party shop' feel to it. The staff seem a bit occasion weary, plus they didn't even know it was my birthday last time I went in.
  5. I was starting to like him, in a kind of "I really don't like you" kind of way He didn't look so cool without his glasses, and he looked like he'd been crying too. Pah, plastic baddies just havn't got it theses days. Next?
  6. It is a bit slow in Alexander N But I do like the Nunhead Nursery and it's also very gay. And the gay guys that run it are really into the gardening scene. So lots of attention to detail and great plants. I have to take my van everytime my other half goes there, as she seems to buy as much stuff as she can muster. No cake tho, not a crumb. But a cafe there or nearby would do a killing on the weekends. On a cake tip I did go to the Herne Hill (sunday) Market today, much cakeage going on there. I refrained, but was tempted.
  7. I'd threaten it with UG and then give it warm air and dry rice.

It's long and expensive. But it's a trip I'd love to take. I looked last year and decided to fly in, but I'd thought of taking the van, so not sure of costs for foot passengers. Keep us posted.

Correct me if i'm wrong. But the old ruling elite, (the ones who called for Brexit) who hate to have the Brussels ruling elite interfering with thier way of ruling (for centuries), want to 'take back control' so that they can rule without anyone from outside of the UK sticking their noses in. Those people will be helping the impoverished, who they themselves kept impoverished throughout history. And they (the old ruling elite) won't be making themselves richer by chance in the process will they, no? Those people will be making it better for the impoverished once Britain is out of anything that Europe may influence. Or making new rules and laws to make it better for them selves and their like, but not really much different for those outside or under their rule. So maybe in 10 or 30 years time, the poorer will be less poor because the ruling elite will have had a change of heart and go against the grain of history. In that case, I see the logic in the plan. And the impoverished voted for this? On what basis. A blueprint, a consensus? Surely not on a bunch of promises or trust from the old ruling elite themselves? Ha ha, no come on, stop kidding around.
  10. There's a guy in Hoxton (he stabs his own arm) who does a similar thing. He's a heroin addict, much like the cycle guy will be probably. It's pretty grim and shocking, but it's the desperate length these people go to. Don't beat yourself up for falling for it, your heart's in the right place. It's a convincing con trick by a sick person. Sadly.

Really, how long until this cloud cuckoo land 'trade deal' do we get to hang about for Because we need to actually leave the EU 100% and then negotiations can aim to deliver a deal It won't be anything like soon, or in the middle future. It will be some long time off, so get used to the cake you have, because no new cake shop open anytime soon. Next?

It's not acceptable, we know that and they know that. But it's what we've got, mostly because the powers that be never expected to be here, the gamble failed and this 'unimaginable' scenario is now real. So we shuffle onward, because no real planning means making it up as we go along. Of course those who are pushing for this will say it's new unchartered territory and that's to be expected. But it's a shite shambles, it's hurting our country, our economy and making us the laughing stock of the developed world. Only that we have Donald Trump and the Korean leader to thank for making us look less deranged and self destructive, it's relative, but there we go. I hope Teresa is having a nice time. Like David Davis said "I'm sure nobody will be following us" or something to that effect.

  18. Franklins farm shop. Just inside on the left, there's often a delicious chocolate Guinness cake in there. Or Cafe Jade. For a more earnest bun type cake try Brickhoues or go around the corner to Blackbird. In Forest Hill try Canvas & Cream or Aga's Deli on Dartmouth rd.
  19. There are professional shippers and packers out there, or get a carpenter to build you a case package and cut dense PU foam to fit nice and tight. Cover the glass with Tessa tape (there's one for glass that comes off with ease) before shipping. Cover the outer with "Handle with Care" stickers and find a gentle handed courier firm. I'm sure UPS do a kid gloves service. https://www.shandhigson.co.uk/149-tesa-masking-tapes

  21. The reality is you need grown ups at the expansion point. When you get biggger you need scale thinkers, and H&G ran a very thin operation initially. However, when books and TV come along the ego can get a bit out of hand, with the old business of getting yor hands dirty seems to be below the creators. And the peril of forgetting where the original business core dollar is mined from is dangerous. Books and TV are basically PR exercises, not careers mostly. Then add a layer of someone else doing your negotiations while youre off 'busy' then all hell breaks loose. Sadly they realised all this at the end, not when it was happening and redeemable.
  22. Basically they figured out what was going on way too late, oversupplied and undersold. And when you're dealing with supermarkets etc, you get eaten alive. Tragic, I loved their shops
  23. H&G took on a management person who steered the company into a brick wall essentially They never recovered from the impact Over diversification and egos ran amok
