I often wonder when a parent calls a child 'Tristan' whether the child 'grows into' that name. On paper it's nice enough, but in real world time, it often grates on some. I'm sure (in my cod science mind) that it has the knock on effect of slightly isolating the child, who then grows up with an air of 'yes im bloody annoying' reticence about them. And then we find ourselves viewing stories like this, and our prejudice toward a name like 'Tristan' comes out, coz we've all met the annoying ones. And so the prejudice is reinforced and we think to ourselves (rightly or wrongly) that 'Tristan' bloody well deserves what's coming to him. Yes, I do. That said, I actually know a very nice Tristan, but thinking about it, I bet he can be a right cunt at times. I blame the parents.
