  1. Our family cannot recommend Lendel Stephens highly enough. Having been in touch with other architects and design firms we were delighted when we finally found Stephen. He laid out the various stages and costs of our kitchen and loft extension for us clearly and realistically early on so we did not run into any surprises and drove forward our drawings, planning application and tender process seamlessly. Where we had questions and wanted to tweak things the process and feedback was easy and quick and he helped us find practical solutions. My husband and I had different ideas on how we wanted to approach various parts of the work, and we always found a practical solution or compromise with Stephen?s help. Given that we had a small baby when we started this, I think I would have put if off much longer had we not worked with Stephen, but he took the stress out of it for us, often arranging to go through plans at a time when our son was asleep so my husband and I could both be involved in the process. Given our experience we would recommend Stephen to anyone.
  2. I cannot recommend Roger and his son enough. I am heavily pregnant and the smell of a dead rat and fly infestation took over our house. They were so kind and understanding, coming over yesterday and again today to advise on a plan of action, and spray, and give us some hope when the timing could not have been worse. I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for kind, thorough and trustworthy pest control.
  3. Lavendar as Bumpkin rightly mentioned, daily taking of D-Mannose is my go to for avoiding UTI and Cystitis, along with a change in diet. Some people might equate the D-Mannose with cranberry tablets but it breaks down differently in your system (and worth noting, the sugar in cranberry juice should be avoided). I suffered consistently for 3 years straight, having a few kidney infections along the way, constantly on antibiotics and even had a GP tell me she wanted to put me on daily antibiotic course to keep from getting any more. Eventually I was so fed up I saw a physiotherapist who specialised in pelvic conditions and a nutritionist, and ultimately changed my diet to cut down on coffee, alcohol, acidic and inflammatory foods and sugar, and drank more water daily. Gluten intolerance and eating badly were basically causing general inflammation in my bowel which was having a knock on effect on my bladder. I now take the D-Mannose only when I feel run down or like one might be coming on, and I haven't had an infection in 5 years! Good luck I hope things improve soon for you
  4. SpringTime I didn't get a look at her as I didn't open the door. She gave up easily once she knew I wasn't going to open the door.
  5. Had a woman knocking on our door late last night near the corner of Peckham Rye and the Gardens. She claimed she couldn't hear me obviously to get me to open the door and that she needed help because her meter had run out and she only had ?3 on her. All very odd, and I was not impressed or about to fall for it, told her I couldn't help her!
  6. My neighbors and I are on the hunt for a reliable/reputable building management company for a small block of flats (5 in total). Ideally we are hoping to find someone local who uses local/reasonably priced and trustworthy contractors rather than ones who over charge and give them a cut. As leaseholders we over pay our current company to do a lot of nothing, the few things they are required to do they do badly and cause more stress for us than if we managed ourselves (which we don't wish to do at this time). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Southwark council is obliged to consider all objections up to the date that the application goes to committee (even if the consultation period has passed) so please do continue to voice your concerns.

  9. I've used David at bexleycattery.co.uk (Telephone: 020 8303 0428). Very nice, good prices, good hours for collection and my cat was very happy. 40 min drive but worth it for the peace of mind!
  10. I know this has come up before on the forum but is anyone currently experiencing problems with Virgin TV/Internet connection going down on Mon 8 September around The Gardens? Any updates from Virgin as to when/how this may be resolved? They were completely unhelpful last night.
  11. I can highly recommend Victor's services. He has carried out work for us over the past year on multiple occasions including painting/decorating our old flat before selling, replacing panels on our garden fence when it blew down, replacing roofing to our shed, and building custom shelves in our new place. He is a great carpenter and the shelves were completed to the highest standard (pictures to follow). They were no easy task as the wall was very high and he built these without cutting into our skirting (in case we ever wanted to remove them). He is our go to guy - Trustworthy, provides competitive pricing and always gets back to us quickly.
