  1. People who pay by card for drinks in a pub, whatever happened to knowing you're going out for the night and having cash with you!
  2. I love Penge, bit rough around the edges but then so am I! Forget Blue Mountain Cafe go to the Blue Belle Cafe opposite Friends of Flavours - Italian restaurant Alexandra Nurseries - Plants etc and great cafe Ollie's Fish & Chips - take away Maple Rd The Bridge House pub - good beer garden and even has a theatre The Moon & Stars - one of the better Wetherspoons Practical, if not pretty, high street
  3. Orchard Toys have an excellent educational and fun range, here's a link to Amazon, you can also buy them in most good toy shops http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=sr_in_-2_p_89_29?rh=n%3A468292%2Cn%3A%21595312%2Cn%3A%21595314%2Cn%3A364143031%2Cn%3A364150031%2Cp_89%3AOrchard+Toys&bbn=364150031&ie=UTF8&qid=1403865529&rnid=1632651031
  4. Check out Mosquito Milk, very good http://www.chemistdirect.co.uk/brands/mosquito-milk/bnd-2n2
  5. Coming back to SE - check out Nemo's on Maple Road, friendliest welcome in Penge too.
  6. If you haven't already come across Toad Hall Cottages online check them out, they cover Cornwall and Devon http://www.toadhallcottages.co.uk
  7. Speedex are very efficient to deal with, excellent customer service. Was going to have some tools shipped for my husband but have a friend coming over from Melbourne so he's been able to collect and will bring them with him. There are no stockists in the UK.
  8. They're not screening the match, and it's not in ED, but this looks like it'll be a fun day in Trafalgar Square http://culturalbrazil.org/2014/05/28/brazil-day-in-trafalgar-square-thursday-12-june-2014-noon-7pm-trafalgar-square
  9. If your 3yr old loves dinosaurs don't forget Crystal Palace Park, the pedalos are available so they can also be viewed from the boating lake.
  10. I bought this book 'Pop-up London' for my nephew, it's wonderful, he loved it and would be a nice book to take with you http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/1406321575/ref=oh_details_o07_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  11. I don?t think there?s anyone would disagree that we need more affordable housing but not at the sake of thriving allotments where individuals/families have worked so hard to cultivate a small plot of land to grow their own. If they were ever to be sold off you just know they would end up in the hands of private developers who would only be after making a fast buck.
  12. I went to Hop Farm festival 2012 and it's back on this year. We didn't take children but it was so easy going and not so far from home. If you're having doubts why not just get a day ticket this year to one you like the look of to see how you get on, for Hop Farm there's return coaches from Victoria http://www.thehopfarmmusicfestival.com/index.html
  13. Good news and thanks to those that signed the petition. Don't know where the petition starter got her info but reassuring to hear the response. My sister has a plot in Penge and friends also have in Dulwich, they are communities too and should be protected. As this e-petition has received more than 10 000 signatures, the relevant Government department have provided the following response: An e-petition has been suggesting that the Department for Communities and Local Government is examining plans to remove council duties to provide allotments. This is completely untrue and has no basis in fact. http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/61225
  14. If space allowed I would definitely have a utility room big enough to take the washing/drying machine, cleaning products, ironing board etc and still be able to move about in there to sort the laundry. In our downstairs shower room/toilet we have a megaflow and boiler which were along the same wall so we had a sliding door cupboard built right across, top to bottom, to house them. There's just enough space inside to also have 2 clothes airers, we don't have a tumble dryer but someone could put one in if ever they wanted to. I'm able to dry my washing, after a good spin, with the warmth from the megaflow/boiler or on a rad if needed quicker! Our washing machine is in the kitchen next door.
  15. We went for matt chrome handles and find they finger mark so have to buff them up with a damp cloth/tea towel more than I would like to have to! Also try not to buy without having seen the handles as the ones we got have sharp corners, it's not too bad for us as we don't have young children running around all the time but could be a worry if you do.
  16. Allotment Open Day this Sunday, Kent House Road http://www.khlga.com http://www.khlga.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/Screen-Shot-2014-04-15-at-20.52.28.png
  17. If you were to travel from Victoria take the 52 bus. We got off at the Albert Hall as we were going to the Science Museum with our 6yr old Grandson. Afterwards we walked around the Albert Memorial, then watched some roller skate hockey being played on the main path and had a lovely stroll through Kensington Gardens to the playground.
  18. Nigello is that for real or are you taking the piss? You haven't lived if you haven't had a good cuppa in a cafe, granted some not so great but always drinkable, you need to get out more.
  19. And the Bluebelle Cafe on Maple Rd Penge does a nice, large cuppa.
  20. Last line nearly made me spit out with laughter my English Breakfast made with fresh boiled water, a good spoon stir then left for a few secs, no squeezing and to finish a bit of milk.
  21. Thank you Otta. Nigello my house is clean and even use the toilet. B-N if I saw anyone pissing against anyone's door I'd have something to say but that wasn't the case here.
  22. If I may be allowed as a 'newbie'? Read through all of this and can't believe that it was posted in the first place. Ok pissing in a public place not ideal, but it happens, and with the amount of rain we've had not a hygiene worry! Hey we're living in London. although some of you think some kind of village, and yes I've been there and done it myself! If left alone I'm sure the bloke would have finished emptying his bladder, given it a shake, zipped up and been on his way. Not something any of us would would want to see on a regular basis but wftf! Yes a toilet stop in a pub or the like would have been better but an alfresco sometimes, with no disrespect intended, the only way to go ! PC Plod should have better crims to catch unless they are actively @#$%& and being perverse in a public place!!
  23. Posted here first then realised should have been against the one in General ED, where I put it after, so I'm deleting it from here. As for farting and picking of noses don't mind my own, but not keen on other peoples, and must confess have done both in public.
