Fair point bbw. Alas some of the the posts on here are just a small microcosm of the general idleness of people off the scope of the ED forum. I feel far more depressed at some examples of 999 calls that are made. A male caller has dialled 999 to report that he has not been paid by the DSS. A female caller has dialled 999 to ask what year the Internet started. A male caller has dialled 999 to say that his wife has gone out without leaving any food to eat. Another caller wanted to know the weather while one woman said her hamster was trapped behind a wardrobe. Could these also be people 'touched in the head'?

And as offensive as the 'p' word is to you, feeling like i'm being accused of 'a selfish dereliction of the English language' as you put it, is offensive to me. Ok, that's fine, if not coming across as particularly laid back. And getting a little off the whole farting topic here, but could you please let me know how i'm guilty, in any way, of the 'selfish dereliction of the English language'??! Plus i can't be held responsible of what images get conjured up in your head when i write a simple word like 'pedant', underlined or not.
