I am feeling a little desperate and hoping someone might be able to advise. Over the last few years my own road (Tintagel) has become increasingly inaccessible. They have painted double yellow lines all around the spaces directly outside my flat - so I cannot park outside to load and unload my baby and all the associated paraphernalia. I have had a permit for the last couple of years since permit only was introduced. My boyfriend has not been able to park here. Then about 5 weeks ago my car was stolen from being parked on Tintagel. Whoever stole it dumped all my belongings including car baby seat, prescription sunglasses, my coat, babies coat and a load of other stuff...in a car park in Brixton. I was issued an illegal wasting notice with a £400 fine (there was an id card with my address on in car) and lots of photos of my dumped stuff. I was told it was not appealable and that my stuff had all been thrown away. The police closed the crime case and issued me a report within a few days - apparently car theft is so common at the moment they won't be looking further into it. I am still trying to get the insurance company to resolve things. I am still appealing the penalty notice. I have no car - so my very wonderful mum lent me hers. I have now been issued a penalty (or mum has), for me driving into Elsie road. Because I don't have a permit for the car. I haven't been parking here but I do need to get close to unload and load. I am so tired of now being basically prevented from using my own road. And utterly sick to my stomach I'm now expected to pay a fine for getting access to my own home. Has anyone an idea of someone I can contact over this - I'm utterly skint and just have had enough of the battles. I don't steal other peoples stuff and get away with it..yet I feel very resentful that the systems are in place to make me pay for driving into my own road!!! Arrgh. Rant over. Thanks for any ideas...

Stranded car at entrance to Crawthew Grove

Yes it's my friends car. She's had a horrible day. She's been waiting for a rescue vehicle for hours. We are sat in my flat hoping it'll arrive. Apparently the same thing has happened several times in the last few weeks to people. That bollard needs to be made higher - (James barber? ). Sorry to hear about your delivery. We are desperate for it to be sorted too! -

Careers Advice - would like a recommendation
betty31 replied to pigglemarex's topic in Request a Tradesperson
http://www.careershifters.org I like their articles - the stories of others who've changed careers... Helpful! Ps I should add that ages ago I did a one evening workshop with them which was really helpful... But the coach on that then recruited us for 'one to one' coaching following on and I basically got nothing more from two expensive sessions with him then I had from the initial workshop... So get the key tips but don't spend a fortune with them! Not worth it! -

Thankyou Stephen and 'localhandyman' I will pm you. Grace3 - I don't understand what you mean by 'expectations'. I was outlining the things I need done- I will pay a fair wage: if someone chooses not to do that they don't need to respond. -

I am looking for a contractor to take on a renovation job in my flat: wall knocked down, new bathrooms fitted, sanding all floorboards, electrics work etc. I have architect plans ready and need a reasonable quote. They will need to be used to working to detailed architect plans. The contractor I was going to use is now unable to do the job and I'm working to a tight deadline. Can anyone recommend anyone who does work to a high quality finish? Thankyou!!!

Seeking plumber recommendation
betty31 replied to neverendinglaundry's topic in Request a Tradesperson
Joanna Badley 07810717541 Brilliant plumber- and completely reliable!! Spent a whole day fixing my toilet but charged by job not hour so wasn't a fortune and has done stuff for me and friends since...including fitting new bathrooms. Couldn't recommend more highly! -
Just to say I'd highly recommend Kiva. She has cleaned my flat a few times and cleans regularly for my parents and is extremely trustworthy and thorough! She's done lots of ironing for me too. Nice to come home to a spotless flat!

former East Dulwich councillor - how can I help?
betty31 replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Hi James, I was wondering where I'm now meant to park if all the parking in grove vale is gradually disappearing? Everyone who lives next to Goose Green now uses tintagel cresent since the parking was limited..it was already difficult enough finding parking next to my house and now you've restricted parking opposite to 2 hours a day. Do I have no rights as a resident? I pay enough taxes etc etc and yet I generally now have to park several streets away as parking is disappearing! Very frustrating..do you have any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks.
