  1. Hi Louie I have amazing memories of lovely Erika.During my first pregnancy I was registered with a different surgery but moved to DMC where the Lanes were based so that I could see erika on recommendation of a friend. She immediately spotted that my baby was small for dates, and arranged for me to have an extra scan to see what the problem was. It would not have been picked up on had it not been for her. I was lucky enough to have my 2nd baby at home and even more lucky to have Erika there to deliver him. I had my 2 closest friends there as my birthing partners, and Erika had her assistant with her. The experience was incredibly powerful as 5 females in the room. She was absolutely amazing, calming and wonderful throughout. I wish her the very best on her retirement!
  2. I approached the school to see if any of the TAs were keen as I knew some others that did it. It's extra cash for them, they often already know your child and it's really good having a pair of eyes and ears in the school. I did hear that some schools don't allow it. Also good at helping with homework too.
  3. I have a child at ED charter (year 8). The year that she started reception must have been an incredibly high birthrate as I think (maybe Renata can clarify) there were 3 bulge classes across ED that year (birth year of 06/07). I don't think there was a huge issue with getting places at ED Charter in their year of admission as it was still off site, a new school and a bit more of an unknown school so not as popular. However 2 years between children is pretty common so I wonder if that has more of an impact this year on admissions.
  4. I live on Oglander road and parked last night on a section of the road (one that I have been parking on for 15 years) that is just as it has always been with no white lines. The white lines are drawn in boxes with seemly quite a few spaces that are no inside boxes but are just free spaces (ie not a disabled space, not across a driveway, no yellow lines. I wonder why they have just left areas like this ? Would I now get a ticket if I park in one of these after the 30th March?
  5. What on earth is wrong with healthy mchealthface ?
  6. Hi Tash and Laura I walk past your shop twice a day on my way to and from PR station. I always look in and see how you are getting on, and I can see how hard you are working. I shall be fully supporting your venture when you are open as I am sure many other locals will be. Best of luck! ps I haven't been to any of the other shops of this nature in the area. What containers will people use ? Thanks!
  7. Hi Natasha I have a music student from Goldsmiths who lives with me, and she is now finished for the summer. She is really lovely and has lots of childcare (and babies) experience. She is excellent with children and my own children love her. She is also very musical (piano, violin, singing). She is DBS checked but does not have any formal qualifications. She does lots of babysitting and daytime childcare for people however. She wouldn't be your long term/next year solution as she's not a qualified nanny and will be back in lectures etc but could certainly be great in the short term, and on had for evening babysitting. Let me know if you'd like her details.
  8. Hi. My daughter (teen) is really into calligraphy at the moment (with brush pens which is apparently modern rather than traditional). There are lots of you tube tutorials but I was wondering if anybody knew of a teacher or similar who could spend a couple of hours with her. Thanks!
  9. I would say yes. It's a bit of hassle setting them up (but not for you as you'll be in labour!) but I found it a huge comfort. I borrowed one - might be worth seeing if you can. Put a post on here or the East Dulwich Mums' FB page if you are on there. Mine took longer than initially thought as the head got stuck so I really appreciated the pool. Good luck.
  10. I live on Oglander road and went for a run that ended at the bench the other day. Had a lovely sit down and chat with my friend! It's a huge pavement down that end. A complete non issue for most I would have thought.
  11. Passiflora They are great as it's not just about the children (who are mainly from that street but friends etc have come too to the one I ave been to a few times) being able to play together when their paths may not cross normally, it also feels as if it brings about more of a sense of community too. Neighbours come out and talk to each other who may never have met each other before, the kids share toys and its all feels really nice and relaxed. It also reminds me of a time when we really could just play outside our own houses too. My road is far too busy but it's a really lovely thing to do.
  12. Hi I have always had willing TAs from the school the kids were at. It works really well. Once when I was struggling I put a post on here and had 2 really lovely A level students respond. It's always worked out really well for me. Oh if you need them to drive I can see that may be more of an issue.. though not impossible. Good luck
  13. Hi I wanted to recommend a very good Builder: Mark Longhurst. Mark has recently done various things in my house, including fitting a new bathroom, internal decorating and a few other things too, all done to a really high standard. He has years of experience in the trade and can find a solution to pretty much anything. He's a very genuine and down to earth person who will tell you exactly what he is doing and why. He's also very friendly, punctual and reasonably priced. I found a recommendation for him on here and will definitely use him next time round. Phone is 07531 946312.
  14. Aveeno (which used to be available on prescription) all over the body every day worked for us (sometimes twice a day depending on how bad it is. Then for the really bad areas (on mine it was backs of knees, neck and arms) but some Hydra cortisone cream from the chemist and put a v thin layer on for no more than 3/4 days in a row. Its works really quickly but don;t use for longer. The carry on with the Aveeno.
  15. There are only a small number of Thames Link trains from Peckham Rye that now go as far as Kings Cross in the mornings since the new time table debacle. Many (most) stop at Blackfriars and you have to change to continue further. Not a major hassle as its normally only the opposing platform but choose your trains carefully! Fine once your are on one but it's not a particularly comfortable experience and very very busy (but you get there in the end as I do every morning!)
  16. Anyone know of any happening tonight ? Accessible by public transport from ED. Thanks.
  17. Hi abfab I went to this one. I didn't end up going though a solicitor but I did have an hour long appointment with them with a list of prepared questions on where I stood on every issue and they were brilliant. They are near chancery lane on High Holborn- near the Thames Link station. If you go the the website the blog is very helpful too. Good luck. https://www.stowefamilylaw.co.uk/blog/
  18. Just that really - Never had any problems with Virgin apart from their prices so I switched. A few glorious problem free months with Talk Talk and now I have lost 7 channels (including ITV and Ch 4). No amount of re-tuning channels or resetting of boxes has helped despite spending far too much time on the phone to the tech support team. I don't get the impression its a very complex problem - it's just that they are based overseas and I need someone at my house. I actually think it might be something to do with the fact that my aerial cable runs from the TV to the box and not to an aerial socket on the wall (but I don't know for sure). Could anyone recommend some one who could look into this for me please ? Thanks
  19. If they make their end of July target that's only the 2nd week of the summer holidays so still plenty of time and many years ahead of us. I'm just glad that PR is finally getting a much needed playground after all these years. We could have done with this years ago - My kids are now 11 and 8 so getting a bit over these things but for those with younger children, 'd be delighted that there is going to be such a great playground even if it is a month or 2 overdue.
  20. Also lots of people tall about H10 Lanzerote Gardens as a great one to go to as well.
  21. If I remember 'kids go free' on some websites - but I suspect that might just mean that the adult price is bumped up. We are going self catering this year and I have a feeling that an all inclusive holiday would have ended up being a similar price and w whole lot less work. The majorca one was booked though expedia and the other one love holidays or on the beach - prices do vary a bit though so it pays to do your research. Feel free to PM me and good luck
  22. Hi I went on 2 all inclusive holidays for the last 2 years with my friend and all of our kids and stayed in 2 brilliant places. One was called Club Cala Barca in Majorca and the other was the Serita Beach hotel in Crete. The kids (some younger and 2 the same age as your daughter) had the most brilliant time at both. The entertainment in the evening was particularly good in the Crete one with adults and kids both loving it - and a creperie which was one early morning until 1am which meant no one ever went hungry even when the restaurants closed. Great staff and kids clubs too if they want to go and 2/3 big pools with stuff going on in the day of you wanted to join in and the kids also made friends too. I hope you find something you love. Sad not to be going on an all inclusive this year as it completely negates the need for any food planning, dish washer emptying and you know in advance that everything is paid for up front. Not the most cultural of holidays but if you want a relaxing holiday then they are great.
  23. Hi there's a week in the summer holidays where I need to find something for my son to do whlst my daughter is doing a drama workshop for a week and he really wants to go to a tennis camp. Anybody know of any operating over the summer ? I know Jags normally good for that kind of thing but I looks a few weeks back and couldn't see anything. Its the week of 20th-25th August. Any pointers as to where else might have something would be great. Thanks
  24. Yes John - I agree - a much better journey but there were no trains to London Bridge for another 42 minutes and I start work at 9. Another joke - 42 minutes between trains to London bridge at that time of the morning. The world (of trains) has gone mad - Or am i missing something. That can't be right surely ?!!
