  1. Can anyone suggest somewhere local where I could get hold of some paper party bags with handles? They need to be about a4 size to hold the books I've got for the children. Thank you!
  2. You can hire out the Bear in Camberwell. I had a birthday party there and just had the back room. They put on an excellent buffet spread and the price was very reasonable, but I don't know the costs for exclusive use.
  3. As a quick fix you could use a violet shampoo to tone it down, like Touch of Silver.

  5. In my experience there tends to be a lot of inequality between the donations that charity shops receive, to the point where some have to turn stock away while others are desperate to receive stuff. I have a few bags of good-quality books to donate. I appreciate that all causes are worthy but can anyone direct me to a local charity shop which will be particularly glad of them? Camberwell / East Dulwich area preferred. Many thanks.
  6. Does booking in at Tommy's mean giving up Lanes care? If so, I'd stick with King's all the way - my experience of the Lanes has been superb.
  7. GP has referred me to the ultrasound dept at King's to investigate suspected pregnancy-related SPD. He told me to phone this morning but the person I spoke to said that they did not make telephone appointments and that I would have to post or fax my referral, or take it in person. Has anyone any experience of this clinic who might be able to estimate my chances of being seen on the same day if I turn up in person? I need to take time off work to attend during clinic hours and it would be very frustrating if I had to take leave on two separate days. I would ideally like to go tomorrow and wait until I can be seen but I don't know if this will be at all possible. Any experiences would be gratefully received.
  8. High Wycombe is a fairly ordinary town in the middle of some very beautiful Chilterns countryside. There are lots of pretty villages and small towns around. There are some very affluent parts (e.g. Beaconsfield, as Elfy mentioned) whilst parts of HW are less prosperous. The town centre has recently been redeveloped with a new shopping centre but the John Lewis is out of town, near the M40. I would strongly echo the other posters' urges for you to learn to drive. There are reasonably good bus services in and out of HW but they're not terribly frequent and they are expensive compared to London buses. You will really need a car to make the most of the area. one further thing to consider - HW and the surrounding areas operate a grammar school system with the 11+. I don't know whether the Maidenhead schools are similar but this may have an impact on your decision.
  9. Can anyone recommend a taxi firm which has child seats, suitable for a 15 month old? Any pointers gratefully received.
  10. Very similar - I bought this for my niece and it has gone down very well: http://www.elc.co.uk/Smart-Trike---Green/121922,default,pd.html
