  1. Hi All I have nothing against Northcross Rd market. I do like to have a potter down there from time to time and have bought the odd thing or two but I thought that markets were supposed to be cheaper given that the overheads are less and the savings are passed on to the customer. I used to love East St market because it was good value and you could have a haggle, not sure if Northcross is good value and I wouldn't want to barter down on any prices.
  2. As a child we always had a dog. Now we have cats as we don't have the time to be responsible dog owners with all the attention dogs need, regular walks and a commitment to training them so that they respond to being called, don't attack other dogs, cats or people. I Totally agree that they should bring back a dog licence fee however nominal. When age 13 I had my first (mine all mine) dog (Tina) the one thing that I had to do was pay the the fee for the licence at the post office. The cost was 37p, name address and description of the dog. A dog is mans best friend so I wouldn't want some huge fee that would make dog ownership exclusive, a dog is a friend and a huge source of company whatever age you are.
  3. I too would like to extend my deepest sympathy to the Family and friends of Mr Connelly. Since he disappeared he and the anguish of his Family have never been far from my mind.It is a sad conclusion to a sad story. My thoughts are with you at this time.
  4. Hi. I have been in my house around 7 yrs and when we first moved I started to notice cracks, I asked a builder to have a look and he said it was normal for a house of this age. Around the same time I read an article in the news papers about subsidence which gave some useful numbers, one of which I did contact but never took any further as the cracks didn?t get any worse and have never been a problem but the company was called the Subsidence Claims Advisory Bureau (www.subsidencebureau.com). 5. Thankyou red devil, very kind of you. E.D x
  6. The Fortunes- Storm in a teacup And if some clever person could put it up on here that would be great, because I don't know how to. Ta
  7. Sky sports reporting that he is in a stable condition. Hoping he makes a full recovery.
  8. I remember him. My Grandparents lived on Fleet St and my Grandfather would take me on a Sunday morning. would have been about 1968/69
  9. Oh Mrs T is still with us. I can honestly say that I there is not another women still living detest more We used to say Maggie may be a women but she is not a sister. Most great women have songs written about them in reverence but doesn?t Mrs T have songs about condemnation of her, Elvis Costello?s Tramp the dirt down. Simply Red also had a song which I forget the title and am sure Billy Bragg has several
  10. I think you need punchy flavours. My favourites are, Diet cloudy lemonade mixed with ginger cordial (you can get the ginger cordial in Holland and Barrett) Tomato juice with dash of tabasco and worcester sauce Cranberry juice and a pinch of cayenne pepper

The photo's I took were back in the late seventies. I will take a look in my Mum's attic to see if she still has them but I suspect they have been thrown out long ago. Best of luck with the web site and archive Regards E.D
  12. I am really upset about the theft of the sculpture. It has been there all my life. When I was younger (much younger) we used to run around it and look through the it. My gran used to drive us round the park and slow when we reached the point that we could see it. I took pictures of it for my O Level art course. I went to see the the Barbra Hepworth museum in St Ives because I was so enamoured by the sculpture. i really hope they find it before it is melted down. It is so sad that it has been taken.I hope it turns up and can be put somewhere as tranquil as it has been for 40 odd years. Please return our sculpture. x
  13. Anything that gets kids out in the park playing a team sport is great as far as I am concerned. Athenlay FC is a really good club and as far as I know is run by volunteers. The club raises money through events and monthly subs and any additional money I am sure is well deserved. I think it's great seeing all the diffrent teams playing on the weekend, mostly in the Winter and in the mornings when the park/common is not so well used.

    Stevie Wonder

For me it's either Talking book or innervisions. But I do like 'songs in the key of life'
  15. This is all so sad. My deepest sympathy to the Family of the young person who has had their life cut short. I am sure that the Police have a handle on this and that in the not to distant future the person/people responsible will be caught. Sadder still is this will not be the last senseless murder of a young person unless there is a Will (and resourses) to deal with all the underlying reasons why this is continuing to happen. Our young people deserve better. No child is born bad or delinquent. So why are we(govt)allowing this to happenen?
