  1. My sister used to work in beauty PR and was always getting me various samples to try. Some things she raved about just didn't work for me and vice versa. My advice is take a morning if you can and pop up to a department store - John Lewis and Harvey Nicks will both get their make up ladies to test foundations and other make up products on you and then you can feel what each product is like on your skin and get really good advice from them. You might even get a load of free samples to try and home too before deciding what to splash out on! X
  2. Haha thank you! It's Hollie I've been in touch with so that's really good to know!
  3. That's really helpful insight thank you. I'm pleased we are on the NCT now! I might look into one or two hyponobirthing sessions as well x
  4. Another pregnancy post! We are enrolled in NCT classes but I'm reading lots on Hypobirthing and it sounds really good. Does anyone have experience of it? Would you recommend it? I'm unsure whether I'd benefit from it on top of NCT? Can I learn what I need from a book? Or should I also enrol in classes? Again thoughts and advice welcomed x
  5. Evening all, Can you recommend somewhere local for prenatal yoga classes? Or any other prenatal fitness classes? I'm used to being pretty active but would benefit from advice and guidance throughout the pregnancy. Tips and advice appreciated!
  6. I've sent you a private message - we've just had the same done so I've provided the details of the chap we used :)
  7. I think it has all reopened - I drove past at 7am and it was incredibly clear (hurrah) and the signs seem to have been removed! I scoured the news and twitter and came across this http://www.brixtonbuzz.com/2015/11/lambeth-council-u-turn-on-the-loughborough-junction-road-closures-sees-loughborough-road-reopening/ Does this mean my commute is going back to normal? *crossing my fingers and toes*
  8. Hello, can anyone recommend a proficient and ideally local firm or person who can carry out valuations of musical instruments including an upright piano? Many thanks
  9. Morning neighbours, We need a structural engineer for a kitchen extension and have been recommended the following: M H Qualters Associates Ricardo Charles Tony Winn Has anyone dealt with them and if so can you offer a recommendation? (or caution?!) Many thanks in advance, The Morgannons
  10. Afternoon all, Can anyone recommend a cleaning company in the area? We used to have a cleaning lady but she doesn't cover this area anymore and we found one of the local cleaning companies a bit hit and miss! Recommendations gratefully received!
  11. I'm an estate agent (hear me out!) though not locally based for work which is Chelsea where no one gets a survey! As a rule of thumb which I've applied each time I've bought and sold as well is that a homebuyers is plenty unless a) you're aware of issues with the house, or b) the homebuyers flags up something which needs further investigations. If you're getting a mortgage, your bank's survey will also have comments about the property and they are within their rights to request more investigatory work, down value the property or issue a retention if there is a major problem. Surveys are by their nature designed to find out any upcomg problems in the property so expect some structural movement (historical- London is full of clay soil which expands and contracts and this causes movement), some damp (kenwood will do a free quote to ascertain further costs) and caution advised re gas and electrics (as surveyors generally arent qualified to give assurances for such). Good luck with the purchase! X
  12. Wow thanks for all the responses! My "win the lottery" dream / retirement plan is to basically spend my time at Battersea but as I'm a long way off that and can't commit to loads of hours regularly, this is the next best thing and it's free and local :) Lady Deliah I would love to meet Hannibal just drop me a private message and we can arrange to meet?! Thank you all!
  13. Hello neighbours! A bit of a soppy post- after 11 happy years, our dog who was a rescue staffy from Battersea Dogs Home passed away in January. Due to various reasons we are not currently in a position to take on another dog right now, so I thought I'd see if there is anyone with a dog who needs it looking after from time to time or over weekends etc as I would love to help! This will also help me fill the dog shaped hole in my life!
  14. I sort of followed it today but took a bit of a d tour and ended up Holmdene Ave SE24. That hill..... 😩
  15. Hmmmmm....v odd. Sometimes they are lazy putting them back in the right place... But 6 days on my brown bin and several of my neighbours' are still AWOL?!?!? Council are sending out new ones. Why would someone want to nick the plastic wheely bins?!?!
