  1. Hi, Does anyone have a recommendation for someone who is good at hanging mirrors? We have one large mirror to be hung up and I need someone who is very good at hanging them well and safely. We also have a couple of smaller mirrors and some pictures that need to be hung up and also some help to move some furniture around in one room. Any recommendations would be very gratefully received! Thanks very much.
  2. Hi, Can anyone recommend someone who can hang a very large mirror on our wall for me please? It's very heavy and so I'm worried about it falling if it's not hung properly. It needs to be very securely attached to the wall. If anyone has used someone before for this kind of job, I'd be ever so grateful for your recommendations. Many thanks, Camilla
  3. Hi, Is anyone available to help me tomorrow to move some heavy items please? I need to move my digital piano from the bedroom on the first floor, down one flight of stairs to the sitting room. I also need to move parts of an iron bed from an outside shed into the house and up one flight of stairs and I need to move some boxed up items from one room to another (on the same floor) - these are quite heavy - wardrobe glass doors and mirrors. Ideally I need two people who can do this heavy lifting for me - it would probably take about an hour. I would pay ?30 if that sounds reasonable? I'm based just off lordship lane. Please message me if you're able to help. Many thanks.
  4. Hi, I have three Ikea PAX wardrobes that I need to get built tomorrow (Friday 16th). Is anyone able to help me please? Maybe a handyman or someone good with flat pack furniture? There are two 2m wide wardrobes with sliding doors and one 1.5m wide wardrobe. They have been built before and then taken apart to move back to the UK so it will need someone quite patient and used to building PAX wardrobes to sort through all the bits and find the right pieces for each wardrobe...! I have pictures of what they used to look like if that helps building them. Is anyone available to do this tomorrow for me please...??? Fingers crossed. Camilla
  5. Thank you to everyone who sent PMs and who replied to this thread. Wow, I never realised how super helpful this forum was! Thank you! To all those I did not contact, I will keep your details for the next time I have a handyman emergency :-) Many thanks.
  6. Hi ladies, I'm also pregnant with our third child (slightly worried about how to cope while totally outnumbered by children!!). I'd love to join a meetup some time either with or without the older kids too. I actually found this thread while looking for a prenatal yoga class so thanks very much mariamadeit for the yoga class recommendation - I will try that! Looking forward to meeting you all and particularly those also expecting their third so we can swap tips (and fears!) X
  7. Hi all, We urgently need a handyman to build a simple kitchen base unit cupboard and drawer unit, both from Wickes. I was hoping to build it myself but upon opening, it looks beyond my DIY skills! We are having our kitchen worktop fitted tomorrow so ideally need someone who can come tomorrow morning. Is anyone available to do that please? We are in east dulwich. I will also have some other handyman jobs coming up over the next few weeks such as putting up shelves, hanging curtain rails, etc so would love to find someone I can use on an ongoing basis. Thanks, Camilla
  8. I just wanted to put in a recommendation for Billy Hunter of Hunter Heating Solutions. I just used him last month on our refurbishment job to install a whole new heating system throughout the house including new boiler, cylinder, radiators, hot and cold water pipes throughout, and gas pipes throughout. Billy was extremely professional, polite, tidy and did an excellent job. He remained on schedule throughout, kept me fully informed of any difficulties or things that I needed to give input on, and was such a pleasure to have around that the other contractors on site took his details to use on other jobs they were doing. I couldn't be happier - it is an extremely neat job and I would definitely use him again. Thank you Billy!
  9. Hi all, Just wondering if anyone has installed thermaskirt heating in their house and if you're happy with it? We are thinking of installing it but concerned that it might look out of place or might not heat sufficiently. I really like the idea of not having wall space taken up with radiators though. The other option is underfloor heating but I imagine that to be less energy efficient since the heat would have to go through the carpet first...? If anyone else has already been through this thought process I'd be really grateful to hear your advice. Many thanks, Camilla
