  1. Same person approached me outside the Post Office on Lordship lane when I was waitnig for the bus. He launched into an obviously rehearsed spiel about needing money for an emergency flat that SE22 People charity had organised for him and his pregnant wife. He spoke at a very rapid pace, got the impression he was using amphetamines or something. I politely told him that I was unemployed and barely getting by myself while doing my best to get back into work, but he stamped on the pavement, hit the bus shelter and said something along the lines of "there's no effing poor people in this area you lying c*nt" then walked off. He seemed like a rather disturbed individual with a violent temperament. I'm pretty sure there is one or two crack houses off Lorship Lane, as there are often obvious drug addicts coming down from the ex-Police station area and catching the bus or walking away from Goose Green for the past few years. The gentrification of ED sure has brought about a range of beggars/undesirables into the area, sadly.
  2. I know it doesn't help, but really sorry to hear about the break in. Your salon is really nicely done up and the people inside always look friendly, I hope things are sorted out as best as possible and it doesn't affect you too badly.

    ITV Show

This sounds so low concept, it'd be rejected from any network in the near-future of Idiocracy..
  4. Move out of Frogley road?
  5. Make sure you tick the Copyright licence on your Flickr photos if you use that, as otherwise they are free to monetise any of your shots without asking you - so you could have family photos used in an online advertising campaign for example. This is really sad as it also prevents people such as students who have benefited from the creative commons licences used on many photos on Flickr when stuck for an image for example. 500 pix is also pretty good, but you'd soon end up paying, whereas with Flickr you do get a juicy free terrabyte of storage. You can also post your Instagram url to share photos via the web. Happy snapping (wish my LX3 hadn't died) !
  6. Really sad to hear about the cat. You are incredibly kind to take care of it, I'm sure its carers will be grateful.
  7. Saw 2 near misses within seconds just after 2 today, got 1 number plate and reported it. A moron driving a silver works van was texting as he cruised through the traffic lights/junction opposite The Bishop, VERY narrowly missing an elderly lady and schoolchild - he didn't even look up from his phone until he was halfway through the bloody junction. Just after he passed, I and 2 other people were crossing the other side of the road going towards Goose Green, when a woman of Chinese appearance drving an orange Juke accelerated towards the junction, with the lights still red, cut acros the road whilst screaming in Cantonese and waving one of her hands around, she almost hit one of us as the man in front of me had a limp. Sadly I didn't get her number, was too busy trying to avoid being run over by the stupid bitch. Something needs doing about this junction, I hope the lady who was injured recovers soon and her life isn't impacted too badly.
  8. Foxy is the only poster over the years I have tried to imagine them IRL. Saw a Bernard Cribbins lookalike outside Jaflong giving it a wistful look yesterday who is my most recent suspect. May I suggest a croudsourced membership pack, a la, the old Dennis the Menace one, with a wallet and badge?
  9. Surely this belongs in the trade section, it's not polite to spam your business in the news/gossip, and it's not the first time you've done it either. Bad form.
  10. Seeing as the average poster seems to view the EDF as /b/ without the images, or the camaraderie, don't get your hopes up.
  11. Just a happy ending given to a clown, after sharing some secret sushi laced with mescaline with the pug witnessed its transmogrification into an anthropomorphic Super Famicom.
  12. Perhaps the wine vending Lothario has finally gone one shag too far?
  13. Morley College does them sometimes, it was a very pleasant and enjoyable course in my experience.
  14. Unforgivable husband returning home without a Chattering Classes verified cheese on toast...! But otherwise, top form! Ever since the forum started, I think this is the only ever crime related thread where the criminals have actually been caught. Saw our lovely local bobby and a WPC visiting the local shops and were in the Co-Op late this afternoon, possibly related? We need a local Police Station again.
  15. To be honest ED and Peckham are a treasure trove for photographers, West Norwood is easily walkable from Goose Green too. Have a look on instagram or Flickr with the hashtags #SE22 #Dulwich #EastDulwich #Peckham #narm for inspiration? If you want a trial by fire for honest critique, try posting your results on 4chan's /p/ board.
  16. Currently revisiting the back catalogues of The Southern All Stars and My name is Kloot both fine bands, the soundtrack of the (most excellent) CBGB film is also great imho.
  17. Glad to hear you are back home and on the mend. My wife was sadly the victim of a hit and run in London many years ago and almost died; she sustained life changing injuries which went on to cause related long term conditions. In her case there were no witnesses that came forward, and she came round from being unconscious by the kerbside with people walking past her as if she wasn't there, the Police did nothing to help. I hope something IS done about this junction and that even stricter measures are taken against motorists who drive dangerously in the area, despite the side roads around Goose Green being a 20mph zone, too many stupid drivers go much faster than that. If James Barber is reading, the corner of Crawthew Grove where it meets Spurling Road regularly has drivers turning right into Spurling Road at speed or without slowing down and I have almost been hit on many occasions there.
  18. The area around Goose Green used to be full of Sparrows, Housemartins a good amount of Robin Redbreasts and numerous other small birds when we moved here in 1980 up until the mid 90s when I noticed a rapid decline. I guess air and noise pollution are the main culprits, though there used to be more front gardens with hedges and other vegetation so that may be related I suppose.
  19. I always suggest people build their own deck whenever possible, helps keep out OS bloat too. I kind of think it is an OS issue; if it was the screen, your power switch LED wouldn't turn off, almost all the crap Hell produce have either onboard graphics, or a passively cooled graphics card. Agree with Foxy that it's always good form to keep your air cooling clean for efficiency and it's nice to replace CPU grease every year or so, but that's not made easy with the cheap and nasty solution that'd be in your system, and as you mentioned the sound still plays, am far from convinced it's a CPU overheating issue - though again, Foxy's advice is something I wish more people would pay attention to , along with a decent HD cooling setup...Your HD may well be a Seagate drive too, so keep it backed up as they have had some pretty horrendous product lines over the last 3 years or so.
  20. Was there an update to your graphics driver? Have you looked under Power management if the screen is set to power down after a certain time? A lot of OEM's also have a bad habit of putting extra power saving options in the graphics driver properties that are not visible in control panel, so have a look there too..

    Ask Admin

Really? It wasn't when I looked last night, thanks.
  22. This crossing needs a lollipop man, with the stick retrofitted with an RPG launcher as a deterrent.

    Ask Admin

Question for Admin, I posted a thread earlier today thanking someone who had helped my cat, am curious as why it was deleted? It was perfectly polite, no idea why it would be deleted, seemingly without reason?
  24. I saw the group of emergency services vehicles yesterday, very sad. This crossing has always been dangerous, so many cars turning left into it do so without slowing down much, and for some reason, drivers turning right into it often cut across the road early due to impatience at the lights, the speed increasing as the night goes on. Since we moved here in 1980 I've seen so many accidents happen on that crossing, yet nothing has been done to address it.
  25. I thought people who like this pub might be interested in this, I couldn't attach the .pdf as it is too large to do so here. NOTICE OF DECISION LICENSING SUB-COMMITTEE ? 2 DECEMBER 2014 LICENSING ACT 2003: FOX ON THE HILL, 149 DENMARK HILL, LONDON SE5 8EH 1. That the application by Robin Phillips for Review of the Premises Licence issued under the Licensing Act 2003 in respect of Fox On The Hill, 149 Denmark Hill, London SE5 8EH is agreed as follows: 2. Conditions 1. That the front beer garden will be closed to customers at 22.00. 2. That the small car park adjacent to Denmark Hill shall be the designated smoking area after 22.00 each day. 3. That staff shall keep a log of any noise related disturbance arising from the external areas of the pub. Such records shall be kept for a minimum of 90 days and shall be made available for inspection by any responsible authority. 4. That staff will supervise the dispersal of customers from 23.00 until all customers have left the premises to ensure that noise from departing customers is kept to a minimum. 5. That vehicles shall not be permitted to enter the large car park at the front of the premises after 22.00. Any cars parked in this area prior to this time will, however, be permitted to exit the car park. 6. That signage reminding customers to leave quietly shall be prominently displayed within the premises. 7. That customers shall be encouraged to depart the premises via the exits closest to Denmark Hill after 22.00. 8. That local residents shall be provided with the email address and contact telephone numbers for both the Fox on the Hill and the area manager. 3. Reasons The licensing sub-committee heard from the applicant for the review who advised that he submitted the application following intermittent public nuisance disturbance. He had noticed an increase of disturbance between March 2014 and September 2014. Since submitting the review application, a meeting had been held with senior management from the premises and a number of conditions were agreed. The conditions had been in place for a trial period since mid-October and appeared to address his concerns. LICENSING SUB-COMMITTEE ? 2 DECEMBER 2014 The licensing sub-committee noted that the Metropolitan Police Service had withdrawn their representation. The licensing sub-committee heard from the representative from the premises who accepted that there had been issues relating to the control of dispersal from the premises. They advised that in line with their licence conditions, they had quarterly meetings with residents. At the meeting on 13 October 2014, the conditions listed above were proposed and agreed with the applicant for the review and other residents. In addition, further physical changes were being made to the premises to control any future risk of disturbance to the residents. They also advised that they had commissioned six feet tall signage asking customers to leave in a quiet and responsible manner. They advised that the conditions and the additional physical measures would address the applicant?s concerns and prevent similar issues occurring in the future. The licensing sub-committee noted the positive engagement between the applicant for the review and the premises. The sub-committee were satisfied that the conditions agreed in addition to the physical works proposed would address the previous concerns raised by the applicant for the review. In reaching this decision the sub-committee had regard to all the relevant considerations and the four licensing objectives and considered that this decision was necessary and proportionate. 4. Appeal Rights. The applicant may appeal against any decision to modify the conditions of the licence; and Any person who made relevant representations in relation to the application who desire to contend that: a) That variation ought not to have been made; or b) That, when varying the licence, the licensing authority ought not to have modified the conditions of the licence, or ought to have modified them in a different way May appeal against the decision Any appeal must be made to the Magistrates? Court for the area in which the premises are situated. Any appeal must be commenced by notice of appeal given by the appellant to the justices? clerk for the Magistrates? Court within the period of 21 days beginning with the day on which the appellant was notified by the licensing authority of the decision appealed against. Issued by the Constitutional Team on behalf of the Director of Legal Services. Date: 2 December 2014 LICENSING SUB-COMMITTEE ? 2 DECEMBER 2014
