For those of you out there looking for a reliable builder I want to recommend David O'Brien at DRJ Builders Ltd (see link to his website below). David was an absolute lifesaver after our original builder left 3/4 of the way through our loft/side return project. Our original builder left us with leaks, unfinished and unsafe finishes and overall poor workmanship that was not covered by his builders' insurance. David was initially recommended by our architect and we ruled him out as part of the tender process as he was more expensive than the builder we chose - what a mistake that was! In hindsight we should have paid more to get the more reliable and experience builder and in the end have spent far more in rectifying all the damage caused by the original builder. Desperate with not being able to fix all the issues (and I am not talking about a snagging list) I called David and he came straight over and assessed the damage and came up with a plan of action to fix the most significant issues with no hard feelings that we hadn't chosen him in the first place and wanting to do whatever he could to help us. He truly went above and beyond to fit us in amongst his other large projects to help us and I will forever be grateful. Building work is incredibly stressful and more often than not we are spending large amounts of our savings to build a home for our families. I would not hesitate to recommend David and hope that this post goes some way towards repaying him and his kindness to help us out when most other builders have walked away not wanting to get involved with a botched job.

Just had Doug @ Hathaway's Carpentry and Joinery install wardrobes and shelves in our alcoves-looks amazing and his attention to detail is incredible. Tidy work and good price so was glad we waited as he has been quite busy (but aren't all tradesmen in ED at the moment!). Nothing was too hard for him-he even managed to move a socket and make good for us-all part of the service with no hidden extras. Cannot recommend him enough.

Cannot recommend Richard enough! He just came back to paint our master bedroom-fast, efficient, super tidy and well priced. My husband was most impressed with the little touches of detail he does and doesn't mention/make a fuss over (tidied up electric socket while cover was removed for painting apparently). Would highly recommend and use again.....

Would also like to highly recommend Richard! Excellent job and left the house in a tidy state every day and very reasonably priced. Will definitely be getting him back.

Niko did several jobs for me recently - not only was he super efficient, reliable (came when he said he would) and value for money but he is a really friendly guy who was easy to chat to and gave me advice for future reference in relation to plumbing issues. Even came to see us for an semi emergency job on a Sunday - what a legend! A great find on the ED forum.
