  1. Nice one thanks Mister Eels. My last Virgin Media bill was ?150! Quality of TV has taken a nosedive in the last year so I'm thinking I might just do away with it.
  2. Well for anyone having problems in the area, Virgin are offering ?10 off (wooooooo I know) off their next bill. It's been pretty bad the last week or so but its actually gone down today and won't have a permanent fix until 7th January.
  3. OK can I ask Dickensman... why the fumes are given off whether the radiator is at a low or high level ... just stronger? We used the radiator several years ago yet now it has the affect once it is painted? It is the only "single" radiator in the house
  4. Sorry to add to that ... I can't believe anyone could even get hold of lead paint in this day and age but when painting old radiators it can mix and loosen up he old stuff on it I believe
  5. We first thought it was some sort of fumes from the boiler and had B Gas and the manufacturers out several times. They tracked "fumes" but could not clarify what they were. Went to Kings and they said daughter had slightly high CO levels and gave her oxygen. They couldnt check for anything else unless they know what the fumes are. Realised afterwards that it was the radiator in the same room. It's been painted a few times after some other issues in the house and since it was painted we never used it in last few years. Only once it go so cold, we turned the rad on. Going to GP tomorrow morning and I just can't quite get my head around what they will say could have happenned to my daughter. But we will just have to deal with that however we can. I'm now just trying to find out how I can check the rest of the pipe work / radiators etc. Just because it isnt on doesnt mean we're not still breathing it in on lower levels.
  6. Has anyone had any experiences of lead (or other airborn) poisoning/issues? We have an issue with a radiator which hasn't been switched on in several years and we found to be the route cause of some horrific fumes that my partner and 4 month old had inhaled over a fair few days with some fairly horrible side effects and yet to find out if there is any lasting issues. Environmental Health & Council are completely uninterested. Anyone else had to trace and remove anything with lead content?
  7. Hi thank you for your input Yes she does have high blood pressure on occasion. Also has a habit of falling over a lot... not losing consciousness but tripping / slipping up. I've never thought anything of it until now.
  8. Hi All, I'm hoping someone might have some useful input. In the last month my sister had an odd moment where my mother failed to recognise her. They had been in a shopping mall for the previous 2 hours and all seemed fine until that point. From my investigations so far, this might be considered a sign of alzheimers in "moderate" stage, however my mother shows no signs of the "initial" phase such as mood swings, failure of short term memory etc. My mother spends a lot of time reading, bridge / scrabble etc, socialising and travelling the world all of which should keep the brain engaged and working and perhaps stave off or at least slow down the onset of such diseases. Has anyone ever heard of or indeed had similiar experiences? Can this be put down to anything else? It's one thing to suspect an issue but to attempt to broach this with my mother will be very tricky and I certainly don't want to suggest going down the route of suggesting any tests etc if I can avoid it at all. It could easily be alzheimers, it could easily be nothing (I may be clutching at straws). So my question is - what could cause such a situation that maybe lasted 20 seconds?
  9. Hi Is anyone else doing the Palace to Palace cycle ride tomorrow?
  10. Hello All, Help! Aged 26 days and our daughter has turned into a "sucky" baby! If she's not asleep or feeding she's demanding attention and sucking her hands and fingers, we've tested to see if she is still hungry and she just suckles on the boob without actually feeding. She's now a powerful eater and takes a full feed in around 10 minutes. So now it feels like we have no option but to reach for the dummy but that was always something we said we would try and avoid. we have a pack of specially shaped dummies if we decide we can't take the wailing any more. She only seem sto play up in the morning and afternoons and evenings she is pretty good. Anyone found any cunning ways around this issue please?
  11. thank you Otto kind of you to say. The estate agents have been contacted on that very basis.
  12. Hi All, I have read other threads on this (http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?30,491409,492179#msg-492179) but hoping someone might be able to help. House is a bit knackered from a fire and what the builders thought would be fixed by next weekend is now looking like it will be considerably longer after more damage has been found. Have a 15 day old baby and living with the old dear is driving both myself and other half absolutely potty. Looking to find a very nice hotel which will put up with screaming child at 2.30 in the morning and do plenty of laundry. Like the looks of Victoria Inn and Church Street Hotel but not sure they will suit having child and the associated newborn clutter. Want to be as close to ED as possible - any ideas? After last years flood (yes really) we lived in Borough for 6 months but found it just a little but to far away and a pain being in the congestion zone. Any ideas please? (PS Dex in Brixton is not an option)
  13. She's doing really really well now thank you. Perhaps some engorgement returning last night but was soon addressed. Second Widwife appointment was this last week and she'd managed to put on 6 oz in the previous 6 days which is incredible. Think our child is actually a guzzler and seems to feed far quicker than Gina expects her to. Thanks again
  14. Panther Cars on North Cross Road are more than happy if you explain you are going to Kings - who ever you use be up front woith where you are going and why
  15. Hi All Partner is really struggling with back pain since giving birth a week ago. We both have physio on occasion at ESPH but wondering if anyone has had experince of specialist post natal massage / physio / osteopathy? She had an epidural and therefore wondering if consideration needs to be given for this when working on her back?
  16. another option if you are in that area http://www.thisissurreytoday.co.uk/news/Day-Frensham-Common-Ponds-near-Farnham-Surrey/article-1146709-detail/article.html
  17. these sort of antics can work in ones favour you know. I had a rusted bike with deflated tires and left it out last saturday night hoping someone would pinch it and i wouldnt have to go to the tip with it. hey presto!
  18. No real pain but strangely the little monkey wil only really suckle for around minutes before falling asleep. Very frustrating
  19. Pretty good all in all thanks. Breast pump followed by hot compress seems to have calmed things (close to exploding by the looks of them) but baby is feeding pretty well now. The only comment we got from Waddon community midwives yesterday was "I can't really help you as I'm not there!" Thank goodness for the EDF
  20. Thanks Gina, Community widwives were pretty poor and didnt seem that interested to be honest. Thanks Fuschia will be trying the infant feeding coordintaor now
