  1. There is a petition online to bring in the army, I got a Facebook link but sure if you google it you will find it. Might help.
  2. have a friend on a train from london bridge which has been stopped mid journey, announcement made to say ED station to be closed. Not sure what that means for anyone on that train/trying to get home.
  3. Once again we have lost my daughter's beloved cow and i'm appealing for any help in putting them back together again. Lost today, somewhere between the court lane gates of the park and Landcroft Road, walking up Eynella road, across the lights by Lloyds and the Plough and then down past Sainsburys, crystal Palace Road and the top of Landcroft Road! Between 4.30-5.15ish. http://www.justjellycat.co.uk/Browse-by-Animal/Cows/Bashful-Calf/p-7-112-3621/ We walked back along the route but someone had already picked it up we think. I would LOVE to reunite them as we are a little lost without cow. Thanks! Jenny
  4. It was brilliant, thanks for arranging Jenny, good work! Reckon we can do something at mine sometime!...will think about when. Roll on the next one! Jennyx
  5. Excellent advice thank you! She violently vomited earlier but I think she was getting a bit over stressed with the combination of teething powder, eye drop and syringe of calpol. I had been giving her calpol but last night wanted to see if she could settle without, mixed results. Anyway I did give her calpol this eve bcoz frankly she seems to really need the rest to beat all the nasties. Hopefully she'll pick up tomorrow. Thanks for the tip about the eye drops too, I just gave them straight from the fridge so prpb not the nicest for her no!!!
  6. just managed to get her to take a full bottle of water but kept spitting the milk out when I tried to sneak it in! So it must be a funny tummy rather than teething pain...
  7. Hi Following on from my post last night...I wanted to check a couple of things. My girl is getting her first tooth and whereas she was doing brilliantly with it, the last 3 days or so have been a bit of a disaster. She is very unhappy and grizzly, she has an upset stomach and won't take hardly any milk, she also has a pretty bad cold and has today developed an eye infection. I have been to the doctor and have drops for the eye and I have been giving her teething powders and bonjela as well as giving her cooled teething rings etc, none of them seem to help to be honest, she just thrashes around grinding her jaw constantly. Today is particularly bad as the eye infection is very sore and she is also tired after a rough night. My question is - how long is it ok for her to be off her milk for before it becomes an issue? she is a very healthy weight and size so that doesn't concern me but obviously its not ideal if it goes on! I have tried feeding her using different bottles in case one is less painful to suck on but doesn't really work. she seems a little happier taking water which makes me think she is just a bit off colour. Of those who have experience of the first teeth coming through - should it be improving any time soon or will I struggle to feed her for a while, if so when do I consider that she isn't getting enough? To be honest whilst the summer is glorious, the heat is making it all that much harder! She is having around 5-10 runny nappies a day which is really unlike her. Hoping that it all passes soon! if the cold clears up then she will be able to breath better so that should help with the feeding, similarly the eye should respond well to the drops but just need the temperature to cool a bit and the teeth to calm down! Oh who would have thought I would be such a worrier, just horrid to see them suffering! Thanks Jenny
  8. Ah just googled, so the wedges you put under the sheet but on top of the mattress. I might see if anyone is selling one. Do we know if they are safe to sleep on all the time or can they be damaging to the neck/back in the long-term? Have visions of her getting very used to it and then refusing to sleep anywhere else!! :) sod's law!!
  9. Thanks!!! How do I raise the end of the bed and what are these amazing sounding wedges?? I will do some googling. I guess would need something quite big as her mattress is a cot-bed one so is very heavy and chunky to withstand future bouncing! Are these things that I could use permanently or would I have to remove it? And yes I may well look for a referral, I think I will wait until her latest teething episode has calmed down and this cold has subsided and will get down to the doctor. Thanks everyone, as always your experience is invaluable to the newbies!
  10. sorry on my original post I was logged in as my boyfriend! Whoops. Thanks for your replies. I really feel for her, I think today she does actually have a cold though as she can barely manage any breath through her nose at all and her poor little lips are all dry from breathing through her mouth :( Its funny you talk about cats as we do have cats but they don't go in her room at all so it can't be that, its the only room where there isn't a cat hair in sight! She is teething at the moment as well and has had an upset tummy which I am hoping is just down to the hot weather. She went to bed at 6.30, has already woken up 6 times! She is so tired and just thrashes around with her eyes shut whinging and coughing because she is bunged up. Poor mite. I might try a humidifier and stick with the thyme oil, olbas oil etc. Just slathered her slumber bear in snufflerub so hoping that will help as she will only sleep lying against the bear anyway!
  11. Poor you, I had it in both breasts and it lasted a while but I just kept on the antibiotics for 2 weeks and it eventually went away. Putting hot flannels really helped, as did the showerhead as Sophie says. I also found trying to lie in a hot bath with the flannels over the breast was quite soothing. I do recall though that the most relief came from draining the breast as best you can which is obviously horrendously painful. My daughter didnt really need feeding much in the night when I had it but I made sure I got up to express every 2-3 hours to try and keep it empty otherwise all the work I did in the day would be undone by the swelling in the night. And lots of paracetamol!! Hope you feel better soon.
  12. I think it would depend on your baby's rate of growth!! I only say that because I bought a happy nappy but only got to use it twice as she grew out of it so it was a bit of a waste of money for me but she is a big girl so grew out of the medium size easily! I now put her in a Huggies disposable swim nappy and sometimes a swimming costume, the nappy is fine on its own. I was selling my splash about happy nappy a little while ago but it went unsold, I would happily lend it to you to try it out to see if it works for you! it is size medium and has a liner as well. Let me know.
  13. Liz Earle does an expensive cleanser where you put the cream on dry skin and then 'buff' it off using a damp muslin which they provide, use baby muslins just to exfoliate your face a bit rather than buying expensive exfoliators/cleansers. Baby monitors can be a good walkie talkie if you can't be bothered to walk to the other room to talk to your other half. Syringes are good for administering medicine to both the baby and the cat, but be sure to sterilise in between obviously! Half a bottle of calpol apparently works for a hangover if there is nothing else. Not tried myself so we're talking 2nd hand information.
  14. I found my daughter wasn't happy on buses for long periods so I actually took the train from Denmark hill to Victoria and walked through green park and Mayfair to regent street and it was very easy and nice on a sunny day! Takes about 30-40 mins depending on your pace. Someone helped me down the steps this end and it's flat at victoria. Worked for us as it avoided the crying!
  15. Fantastic idea!

Do you mind telling me the make of yours and does it fit onto your bee? Thanks Jenny
  17. ah ok I have just read a bit about them and they are not biters so apparently we should leave them and marvel in the natural phenomenon of the mating season. I guess I was a little hasty with the Raid spray.
  18. Have noticed a few ants the last few weeks but this afternoon seems to have heralded the arrival of the swarms and all the new baby ones. We have hundreds and hundreds of them everywhere you look! Last year we had to pay someone to help eradicate a nest from one of our cupboards. Currently they are staying outside, anyone got any tips on how to control the swarm or keep them away? We currently have a joss stick burning and the ant spray to hand but it seems a little weak to deal with the number we have!

  20. Hi I think that my Bugaboo Bee has faulty front wheels, both of them seem to wobble really badly for no apparant reason and it makes it feel quite unsafe. I know there has been a previous thread about this but I was just wondering if anyone had experience in returning it to be mended? Mothercare have said that I would have to return to a store and I would be offered a loan pushchair whilst it is sent off. I know that it would never be hugely convenient but anyone done this themselves, how long did it take to get it sorted? Thanks! Jenny
  21. My architect brother in law has just put cork down in his flat and it looks really great, it is warm and it is soft. Might be another option for you!
  22. a second vote for Postmark on Northcross road!
  23. Hi We have the bottom part of the cocoon on our bee but in light of the fact that the seat is moving upwards and the baby's feet are dangling over the end of it, what is the best next thing to get? There always seems to be something to buy! I can't decide between getting a sheepskin liner, a seatliner or a footmuff. For Winter I will need the footmuff for sure but not sure whather it might be a bit hot for the Summer as the fleece on the cocoon is very thick...the seatliner looks good but not particularly comfortable. Anyone got any experience or suggestions? Jenny
  24. No worries, you can also go in store but you need a little card voucher thing which I think can be found on some of the Ella's Kitchen pouches.
