  1. Just in case anyone fancies a new job... http://jobs.tes.co.uk/job.aspx?jobId=427163
  2. the green shop moving to crystal palace hmmm...'scared off'? had sense 'knocked into them'? 'disrespectful'? didn't know ed had its very own mafia!
  3. I think you meant 'herded'. Are we still allowing poor people to post on the forum?
  4. Chener Books are the reason that East Dulwich still has some individuality. I am not one of those who believe that the big stores do only damage but it's the uniqueness of stores like this that sustain the identity of the area. Have you been to the King's Road recently? All of the shops are chains and you could be walking along any high street in the country. If you want this i suggest you go move nearer to Bluewater.
  5. Dulwich Baths is the biggest disappointment in the area. I used the pool when i was pregnant but had to relocate to the LA Fitness pool when i saw excrement floating on top of the water. I complained - noone seemed that fussed. I also complained (pregnancy hormones) that they didn't hold any antenatal exercise classes as i had to pay lots to use private ones. I think Mark you are right the council will not deliver any immediate changes. As per usual if it were a private enterprise they would have this turned around super quick. It is a real shame for local residents, especially the children, that this doesn't work out better. Is there anyone we can harangue?
  6. "Perhaps we should petition for a three-wheeled buggy lane along both sides of LL, that way the yups and their wee ones could walk along unhindered by some inconsiderate oldtimer out shopping or even worse a smelly unemployed working class person getting in their way!" I am one of those aforementioned buggy owners. A buggy lane would be great, I should point out though that I really hate it when 'a smelly unemployed working class person' gets in my way.
  7. Went to La Moulin yonks ago. Simlilar reasons to these posts - near by, curiosity etc. Have to say: it was very poor. Good luck to Eric and Margaret and all the regulars but that was not what I would call good food (and it was not exactly Chelsea Kitchen prices either).
  8. The Herne is great. Everyone agrees - hence it is always packed. End of story/pointless argument. Off you go to the Plough/Harvester/Castle/Magdala
  9. Never been so outraged until I saw TW's 'defence'. No attempt to explain the locking of the door/charging a well-meaning customer for breakages - rather a 'f*** you' for daring to suggest the EDD is beyond criticism. I've always liked the EDD until I saw this (although to compare its produce to Borough's is frankly laughable). Having read this I think I shall 'vote with my feet' rather than take the whopping 10% off bread he/she has offered. Roll on the next deli; hopefully this time some element of customer service/care will be included. PS - why criticise Cafe Nero on this thread? - have they done anything akin to what has been described here? I think not - don't get sucked into the 'because it's independent it must be honest' argument; frankly, Nero's customer service is head and shoulders above most of LL's independent stores (G&B excepted - what a great extension!)
  10. greens has the worst service in ED. They sent a glass of wine over to our table as a "sales technique" hopeful that i would accept it so they could add the charge to our bill. they then lost my coat and were aggressive. they're useless.
