  1. These are rather unusual street names within a small cluster, I was wondering if anyone out there knows the background to these street names. Scutari/Marmora I suspect were named after or asscoiated with Gallipoli beaches, maybe the houses were built around the same period ?
  2. just discovered the following..great music * Beggars Opera * Lawnmower Death

    Mandelson

Mandy's lost all his superpowers after he got rid of that Turkish type moustache
  4. Minder..yep we're on the same wavelength. Magdala 1980s not too dissimilar to Smithfields meat market
  5. No need for anyone to move..I believe there are ED climatization evening classes being held at the local Adult Community College..I recommend it, there's even an induction part for ex Clapham folk
  6. I suspect with that degree of response it must of been severe crime like unauthorized removal of council begonias from the flower beds ???
  7. ..you enjoy reading such threads on the East Dulwich forum ..you remember Lordship Lane pre Clapham diaspora
  8. Boy racers make my blood boil, I wonder if it is permitted under government's guidelines into genetics to identify the boy racer gene and remove it from the human species in due course
  9. it wasn't the guy from Big Brother still trying attact attention
  10. hey dulwichmum, you're right I deserve a stern reprimand..it was a moment of madness due to work related stress in the City. Staff weren't retards, they merely lacked customer focus ( is that better ?) Country is in dire need of good news like Cliff Richard announces his musical retirement..gosh that would really cheer up the nation
  11. Snorky..so much literary talent, you're wasted on this forum
  12. sorry stuck in a 1980s time warp..definitely as it is now 'yuppified'
  13. I've never figured out why Lordship has become a yuppie hub, I'm in my 40's now but I still have memories of Lordship Lane as a kid when it was tacky and uncool, especially the Tesco..possibly the worst supermarket for miles, staffed by retards (sorry meant to say they were not customer centric)
  14. Tedsum..I meant odd in a good way (honest) it just stands out becuause firstly it's so rare these days to find a traditional hardware store and the way it's painted makes it stand out.
  15. thanks for comments folks..you've convinced PRP is worth a visit when I'm next in the area. Kind of agree Dulwich Park is a bit over rated, man they even got rid of that avaiary, that was the higlight of the park
  16. Just wondering what Peckham Rye park is like these days..it used to be the pits when you compared it to Dulwich Park. My parents used to say it was actually better than Dulwich Park in the 1960s, it had nice gardens, brass bands playing there etc. Is it worth a visit ?
  17. When I used to live in East Dulwich I used this junction regularly for 25 years without any problems...total overkill,no need for lights there at all. I guess it does it give you a bit of time to admire that odd hardware store on the corner with it's bizzare outbuildings
  18. list gets really big if you include SE21 post code..Eddie George former Bank of England head,
  19. interesting article on Wikipedia on East Dulwich, particularly the list of famous residents. Quite a few errors on their list, some listed actually lived in Forest Hill rather than East Dulwich http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/East_Dulwich I can think of a couple of other famous residents a)Actor Nadeen Andrews ( English Patient, Lost TV series, Mighty Joe Young etc). He was my ex - neighbour b)Eric Morley - founder of Miss World, lived in North Dulwich
  20. It's all been downhill at Somerfield, didn't have such issues when it was Gateway and prior to that International ( going back a bit now)..those days didn't even need cash you could barter
