Maturity In short supply. -
What about knocking down the cult place on LL - the Thomas More shrine? You could put something much more venerable in it's place. Like a Waitrose. I honestly wonder if Lousia's joking when she suggests that a shop like Waitrose should charitably set up shops to 'improve areas'. Brand integrity is a two way thing - Waitrose wouldn't bring Peckham up, it would just drag Waitrose down to the local level. Besides, they're not a social service!

Ah, that's where we differ. If a politician takes funding from these huge resources, they are strategically bound to legislate to their requirements. Chuck in 'first past the post' and you've got a tinderbox. It is a shame that the country has to be run on either a Marxist mandate, or a Thatcherite one, but never the middle ground. It creates highly a highly polarised political environment that pays scant respect to the needs of the people. BTW, you can take it as rote that I don't accept the concept of proportional representation either, as it divorces the ruling elite from the electorate. I'm sorry if I implied that your grassroots outfit was filthy rich, but I would suggest that anyone you vote in would either have to be, or be the lapdog of someone who is, if politicians were personally funded.
-
So, of course, badgering your view whilst not offering one of my own is naughty. My recommendation is to change the system to 'single transferable vote' - allowing voters to choose candidates by priority, rather than first past the post. For those who aren't familiar, it means if your selected candidate comes bottom in the 'first past the post' election, your vote is distributed to your second choice candidate. After this cycle, the bottom candidate is again eliminated and the votes redistributed to existing candidates according to the next preference, and so on.... In this system you'd be far more likely to be elected if you were everyone's second choice, rather than by taking an extremist point of view that appeals to a limited audience, and hoping your audience will deliver a fractional majority. It gets past the situation where a 'winner' may only have a third of the vote, meaning two thirds of the population don't want them but the vote is split. It'll move us towards centrist candidates who represent their local people rather than a political party. QED the government funding is spent on local issues, not to fund party agendas.
-
But then MM you'd be hoist by your own petard. If this is indeed a political campaign, then so is yours. Any campaign against funding for MPs biases representation to the independently wealthy, and those holding down jobs such as 'non-executive directorships' that require no effort. A recipe for the country to be lead by wealthy toffs and the city elite, imposing Thatcherite ideals such as 'no society' that created the social fractures that so scare them now. You lot'll be living in gated enclaves with private security and the rest of us will be in the mud outside. It'll be a return to 1750.

The history of the fish industry is working class anarchy in action - and also the cause of its demise. It would be ridiculous to blame the consumer or celebrity chefs for increasing demand, it was the responsibility of the industry to recognise decreasing supply and organise, legislate and price to respond to the the crisis. It's one of the clearest demonstrations of how the 'market' cannot be used to regulate all the actions of a society. A 'market' only works where the consequence of certain activity (feedback) is local, transparent and within an actionable timescale. Like private car enthusiasms and rampant consumerism, the fishing industry was blind to the immediate impact of its actions, blaming shrinking catches on unlucky weeks, bloody foreigners and onerous quotas. It was in reality a crisis created by small-mindedness, selfishness and wilful negligence. I hope we can learn a lesson.

Great job Taper, point's well made

I'm guessing you must just like the look TMIB, because the region you describe has no homogenous culture, religion or language. TBH, they don't look that similar to each other once you get to know them. I should know, I live here!

Answer what TLS? Why your made-up figures are true? Grow up. If you want to debate the success or not of mixed race relationships then you'll need to do it on stats you haven't made up intentionally to be bad. The whole concept is spurious. Garry Bushell is 'mixed race', and so are we all. The whole concept of race is generated by bigots to sow social discontent as a prelude to the violent acquisition of power. It's nasty in its own right. Tony, I find the reinventing of history and social statistics to support a divisive prejudice that imposes a value judgment on members of any racial group to be extremely nasty. I don't need to quote you. Amongst your many revolting assertions: that WWII was fought by white British to protect white British blood, that London was a better place before immigrants arrived, that immigrants don't want to mix with the locals, that immigrants don't want to be British, that racial integration can't happen, that mixed race kids are rejects Leaving all that aside, the very fact that you spend more time discussing the colour of people's skin, rather than their contribution to society reveals a disturbing focus in your life that you would be better off without.
-
What do you mean by 'Asian'? Is it a matter of culture, religion or a sexual pecadillo for the orient?
-
"75% of mixed race relationships fail" This is a crazy stat, both because it's misused in this context, and because it's used to cast another destructive and inaccurate slur on racial integration. Let's be honest: 100% of all partnerships end in failure or death. Since most of us go through more than 3 relationships before marriage, and 50% of all marriages end in divorce, the the 'failure' rate of all relationships must by definition be higher than 75% QED mixed race partnerships (by your weird stat) are better than same race. The thing about your comments Tony, is they're all about race race race, and they're all nasty nasty nasty, and when you can't use the truth you just make stuff up.

I've got the BBC's annual report, and there's no executive role for a 'Head of Subtitling' or 'Head of Access', and no salary assigned. Is it possible you've been getting your info third hand, and you can't differentiate between fact and fiction? The Board roles are 'Head of Vision' (TV) etc. The salaries are predominantly in the 300k range, and whilst high, they do reflect well aganist the salaries of individuals running equivalent businesses in the private sector. For example Peter Chernin of News Corp last year received US$27.4m in annual salary for being the COO (not the owner, mind, just another board member). -
That's the challenge with the pampered netizens of Nunhead, they think revolution is hilarious fun. Chick, don't be disappointed, and please keep us in touch!

1874 was just about the time when the land was parcelled for development. The map may well have been a development sketch. Most of the houses went up between 1878 and 1890. Most of the names were taken from the developer's enthusiasms. As odd as it seems a large part of the land was developed by very few builders. The exception is the plots close to LL, where the houses were built in 3s or 5s. Crawthew Grove as we know it now had a dozen different terrace names dependent on how far along it you were. You can even tell from the house designs themselves. They have matching 'signature' bricks (like stylistic tweaks). -

'The BBC is the state' So, I guess, in your view, is just about everything else - why do you focus on the BBC? -
I'm guessing the viloent b@stards will tend to use Tony's observations as support? In case Tony is unaware of the real consequences of his jinogoist views, here's the link Nasty sh*ts, except TLS, who of course just thinks that the world would be a better place if we, well, you know... In fact, it's a pretty good thing that the residents of suburbia don't p*ss in your letterbox and assault your wife to send one back to the city?

Assuming the police had grounds for concern, why would HNHY's chum not explain why he had two sets of keys on him? I can understand why it would appear suspicious, and I'd probably try and quell concern by explaining the situation?

Possibly, it would depend on which had the greater legal weight - a covenant or a listing. Don't attack me now beard, but I'm wondering what on earth has happened to you to make property such an inflammatory issue for you? -

Done, I hope you use the support wisely! One seems to be able to vote more than once, I hope these cretins know how to run an online ballot.
