I went to Glastonbury and Reading this year (as I do every year, apart from Glastonbury's fallow year) - I was doing voluntary work at those events with the a charity that I regularly volunteer with. But that's beside the point of this thread - How representative of East Dulwich is the EDF?

My wife is a vegetarian, apart from fish and occasional chicken, so I don't think she would go to GBK. Also I've only ever her seen use Facebook.

Yes, I agree Peckham is now for the trendies, though I am a bit of a hipster myself, despite being 45 years old and a father of three children. But basically people need to have sense of place - I know mine (East Dulwich); other people should know they live in Peckham (or Peckham Rye or Nunhead) rather than thinking they're in East Dulwich. So the EDF should be local people posting about local issues for discussion with fellow locals.

My wife and I have 3 children and are thinking of having a 4th as we have plenty of space still at home. Has anybody else got more than 3 children? How did you have a 4th? We're unsure what to do.

Tea on waking, multiple Azera coffees till 5pm, then tea again at 6.30.

Where specifically hould you draw the line though? Some people clearly live in Peckham yet claim to be in East Dulwich - what evidence do they have to support their claim of being resident in East Dulwich? Whereas I live on Melbourne Grove so can quite justly go to the Cheese Block and WR on Saturdays knowing I am a proper East Dulwich resident and not an interloper.

Thanks for all the suggestions, my hipster look is now: tight jeans, converse trainers, black tight t-shirt, tweedy jacket, origami foil hat, fixie cycle - I felt so cool cycling down LL today to see my brother who lives on CPR.

Ok, cool, ?20 for the lot?

I want to do what local people do - origami shop
Bob Buzzard replied to Bob Buzzard's topic in The Lounge
I'm sticking with 'Dulwich Crease' - it's suitably vague and on trend for local people. I've started practising with folding planes and basic boats - then I'll branch out to other things like trees. -
I like it - fabulous, just the thing for my planned new shop 'Dulwich Crease' - wearable origami - how hip! I'm off to get some Bacofoil from the LOCAL shop.

Loz Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > You're going to start an argument with that map. That's the map Google displays when you search for East Dulwich - isn't it correct? I have to say that from a boundary point of view I've always considered Goose Green to be in Peckham. There is the church parish area of East Dulwich which I think may permit a wider interpretation of the boundaries of East Dulwich, as I think traditionally church parish boundaries are older than those of more modern maps, such as Google's or A-Z (based on my limited knowledge of cartography).

Thank you for that helpful suggestion - where can you buy one of those hats? I'm really digging the homemade look (is that correct hipster speak?). I've just been to the friendly Balfe's today and bought one of those single gear bikes with flat handlebars as I think they're quite on-trend at the moment.

What about an East Dulwich ID card with the only people eligible for it being those who live in the East Dulwich map boundary? Then only those people could use the local services with a discount as you would have to produce it to get a 10% discount?

Help! I'm still unclear after all these postings about the ?3.20 per bowl(!) cereal cafe - is my planned hipster get-up authentic or not? (I've stopped shaving and I've ordered some tortiseshell thick rimmed glasses from Paine & Hunter. Should I get some tight jeans and a country style tweed jacket? What about Converse basketball trainers - are they ok?)

Louisa Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > This forum has not been representative since about > 2008. > > Louisa. Yes, I think it was about August 2008 when people from outside the area starting contributing posts. Administrator - is there any way the IP addresses of people from outside the area can be blocked to stop them posting in the Forum? Are IP addresses linked to geographical locality?

It's very representative - it's a local forum for local people

I've decided to become a hipster and would like advice on getting an authentic look. I've stopped shaving and I've ordered some tortiseshell thick rimmed glasses from Paine & Hunter. Should I get some tight jeans and a country style tweed jacket? What about Converse basketball trainers - are they ok?

Aah indeed - hand-folded origami croissants (locally sourced of course) - I like the idea - I wil consider them for 'Dulwich Crease' the name of my new shop. P.S. has anyone seen any vacant slots on LL I could lease?

I've been walking up and down Lordship Lane today looking for a suitable property - I couldn't see anything - but what about North Cross Road? Would anyone go there for an origami shop? -
I got a bespoke jeweler in Clerkenwell to make a plain platinum ring with a single sapphire for my wife's engagement ring - it still looks good 15 years down the line.

Simpy Food is like one of those motorway M&S outlets.

Thanks for that advice - I'll try and get the train there and have a good drink-up at the match.

Since I've moved back to E Dulwich I've decided that I want to do everything locally, including working. So I'm planning to give up my job in the City and open an origami paper shop on Lordship Lane. I think I will call it 'Dulwich Origami'. I'm quite good at folding a wrap for storing small items when I'm out and about so I can guess it can't be too hard to learn some other folds/shapes and then run some origami classes from the shop. I just wondering what the level of local interest might be in origami?

I've got tickets to see Italy trounce Canada on 26th Sept. at Elland Road. What's the best way to get to Leeds? Train or car?
