  4. Hello All, we are having an au pair (from Germany) joining our family from end of August, we live in Forest Hill, near the Horniman museum. She would like to get in touch with other au pairs. Please send a PM if you have an au pair who would be interested. Best wishes, Boris & Kathryn
  5. Sorry Kate, our au pair cannot make it tonight, she will be attending an english class.
  6. We also have an au pair (from Germany) who is keen to meet other au pairs.
  7. Hi Clara, I have tried to contact you via email and left a voice mail. Hope to hear back from you.
  8. Boarderline (as LL was boaderline between Dulwich and Friern Mannor)
  9. If you live in forest hill exchange area you may be able to get on BT's trial for fibre. To the premises. Trial giving you 120 Morgan download speed, also available via plusnet but not others including sky talktalk as far as I know.
  10. ...in the end we went with O2 broadband as got ?5 rebate for being a O2 Mobile customer, ?100 m&s voucher. + ?100 quidco cashback. Ok only getting. 11 Meg line but often speed you experience is depending on what you are connecting to.
  11. Check prices with Plus.net they are owned by BT and offer fibre at promotional rate.
  12. Went to the Garden's cafe for lunch before Christmas, the space is great and the food was really good this time. Went for the first time shortly after they had opened and was not very impressed by the food and their pricing, also service was not quite there yet. This time the food was good, however, we had to wait at least an hour for our food. We were there with 3 babies who were getting hungrier and hungrier. Yes it was busy but the time we got the food but not when we ordered. We asked 3-4 times for the food but every time we were told it was nearly ready. No apologies, no offer about a free coffee or anything. Won't be going back again.
  13. Yes, we need really good coffee here, for those who are interested in really good coffee, it should not come as a surprise that there are no cafes in ED on this map, closest being Browns of Brockley. http://www.worldbaristachampionship.com/2010-london-coffee-map.html In terms of chains, no more high street chains please. Don't get me wrong, we sometimes go to Nero but not because the coffee is great, but rather that it is child friendly and most other local alternatives are just not that much better when it comes to coffee. If it has to be a chain I would welcome a branch eg by Fernandez and Wells, Milk/Flat White, Monmouth or why not an outlet by local coffee rosters Vulcano (coffee already sold by Franklins farm shop and cafe in ED warehouse).
  14. I know it is a long shot but has anyone found a size 3, Clarks brown leather shoe, today in the Goose Green playground or on the roads on or dear Crystal Palace road?
  15. Jack's and Peckham Rye Cafe have free wifi too, ask staff for password. NB at Nero's the wifi is free. Ok you need to register - which takes about a minute - but you can then use the same details at all cafe Neros. I think to get free wifi at Starbuck's you need to get a loyalty card and register online.
  16. F?r svenska pappor vara med ocks?? Jag bor h?r i ED med min sambo fr?n Australien, v?r son ?r 15 m?nader gammal. Boris PS. Kan dessutom tipsa om http://www.princesstillysteaparties.co.uk/ som drivs av Agneta som ocks? bor h?r i omr?det.
  17. You can get a direct train to East Croydon from Forest Hill (or Honor Oak Park), that is what I normally do if going to Gatwick. From London Bridge or ED you will have to catch the train to London Bridge or Victoria. There is also a direct trian from Tulse Hill to Gatwick but only once a day, so could be risky if cancelled/delayed. Mini cab is around ?40.
  18. Times delivers directly. www.thetimes.co.uk/Times_Subscription
  19. legalbeagle, Im impressed that you as owner come on to the forum to get feedback on your operation. I would normally spend about ?7-9 for a bottle and feel that there is limited range available in this category at G&B. Nevertheless, after reading the post on the site I visited your shop earlier this week and had a good chat with the Manager who was very friendly and told me about the individual wine producers ; I ended up buying a bottle for ?16 (his favourite) , well above my normal budget, looking forward to try it but it will be for a special(ish) occasion. I understand your point about volume and margin. However, for me to become a more frequent customer I think it would be great if you could sell some sort of white label / self bottled house wine (maybe in recycled bottles) for say ?8.00-9:00. In this way you could get a lower wholesale price and get some volume + customers through the door. Alternatively how about half bottles (during week I would prefer ? bottle anyway). In terms of value add, it would be good if your website offered some sort of user feedback / star rating. Alternatively you could consider setting up an expert panel then publish results on your site (e.g. see nakedwines.com). Also I have signed up for your newsletter months ago but never got an email. Your manager wrote down the address so hope I will get it next time. Finally, I think there is an opportunity to co-operate with some of the other local restaurants and offer your wine and refer back to G&B; if nothing else maybe do something with il mirto and Thai corner two local BYO restaurants.
  20. well, if you are concidering getting a new areal I would consider freesat. in particular if you have a nice full hd plasma/lcd then you can get better picture quality on hd transmissions.
  21. There is a new gym opening near sainsbury's in forest hill
  22. my top 5 (in no particular order): Cafe 2050 (goat cheese, tapenade & salad on ciabatta) Jack's (swedish meatball and beetroot sandwich on roll) Blackbird (meal deal: sandwich, cake and coffee for ?5) il Mirtro (ciabatta, mozzarella and salad) Luca's (ham and cheese on ciabatta or focaccia - NB you have to tell them if you don't want it toasted!)
