  1. Hi yes I have done speed tests. As mentioned they are always pretty high but the zoom connection still cuts out. It appears to be the latency but just wondering if anyone knows if that causes screen freezes and also how to stop (if that?s possible) spikes in the latency. Ie can i buy a mesh network to improve things, increase the speed (which i guess wouldnt stop the occasional increase in latency) or do i need to change provider. Thanks a lot you computer whizzes!
  2. Feels like there are some experts on here so, if you dont mind, some of the points raised are something i am looking into it at the moment. I have a 100mbs line with virgin. Speeds are always very good but when I use Zoom on my laptop for work related meetings it usually cuts out/freezes at least once for around 10 seconds or so. Not a huge amount of time but not great when i am talking to clients. I installed some software that monitors the broadband and it seems that the latency spikes typically once an hour. It doesnt happen when I switch to using my mobile phone as a personal hotspot. I am in the loft room using the WiFi from the router directly below me in my front room (as mentioned the speeds are around the 100mb/s mark). My question is can the cut out of zoom be due to latency? Would i solve this issue using a mesh network with a mesh box in my office room to make a signal effectively closer? Could it be the way my wifi is set up? Or do i need to change provider? Will this issue go away if i increase the speed (assuming the same latency) to say 200mbs with virgin? Thanks so much! Not very accessible topic!
  3. Hi there, I need a 16 seater minibus for a 45min-1hr journey in a few weeks. A few companies out there but looking for a recommendation if possible. Thanks a lot
  4. Definitely get in touch with Kate Selwood! Fantastic local PT in SE London. https://www.sustainable-fitness.net/
  5. Hi Abbey, Check out https://www.sustainable-fitness.net/ Kate is great!
  6. Hi - can anyone recommend someone local that they have used for divorce work in our local area? Feel free to DM if you would prefer! Thanks a lot
  7. Hi there, Can anyone recommend a local will writer? Solicitor or just will writer is fine. Thanks a lot
  8. Hi there, Our ikea oven broke last week (pretty sure its just a heating element as the mains fuse box tripped) and so doesn?t heat up. It?s slightly out of warranty so need to get it fixed. I was just wondering if anyone had found someone local who could fix an IKEA oven and could recommend them. Thanks a lot
  9. Our green bin went ?missing? last Tuesday. We have ordered another one but no joy in it arriving yet. Does anyone in the Upland/Underhill Road area have any space in their Green bin for a bag of household rubbish to tide us over until it arrives? Would massively appreciate it.
  10. Hi Arja - sent you a PM
  11. I know there are lots of local businesses delivering food having had to change business models to survive. I know that looking at the forum some of those are struggling to deliver all orders taken in a timely fashion. If anyone wants an alternative, check out spiers salads. Full disclosure they are owned by my wife?s cousin who lives in brockley but we have ordered fruit and veg through them and its great. I know others who have as well and reviews have been very good. http://spierssalads.com/ They used to run salad bars in the city and like others they have had to adapt, or indeed die. They too were struggling a bit to keep up with the incredible demand but have since joined forces with a delivery company (who themselves have had to adapt from their original model delivering food to restaurants) to increase capacity to around 500 deliveries a day to south east london (inc SE22!). Monday is full but Tuesday has space. Check them out. Stay safe everyone.

  13. Steve came around after I saw the recommendations on the forum. Very nice guy. We had a radiator leak badly on the carpet in our bedroom. Steve was honest and said he wasn?t sure it would come out but managed to get the stain out! Very pleased. Would definitely recommend and will use his services again.
  14. Sorry to hear about the burglaries everyone... We were also burgled recently, on new years eve just gone. Overnight in fact, while me and my family were upstairs. Very similar to Daniel with coats and stuff and anything near to the front door taken. Thankfully aside from an ipad, nothing of real value. All aside from the ipad was discarded in the streets around where we live and thanks to the forum, everything returned. The major similarity/lesson to everyone here is how we also hadn't double locked the door. We hadn't double locked it in the 5 years we have lived in east Dulwich so I think we were definitely riding our luck and now definitely DO lock it religiously. John L - you can get the locks that are a key to open from the outside of the property but just a knob to turn to unlock from the inside. I have heard that they are often not good enough for insurance companies but, I think in the case when people are in the house, burglars are really only opportunistically looking for when double locks are not done so I would have thought this would have been enough.
  15. Hi - I just wanted to recommend Claire from LDN Pilates. My friend and I have been sharing sessions with Claire for a few months now. I have had 3 private instructors over the years and Claire is an excellent. The sessions are a good mix of active core strengthening and stretching and it really helps me with niggles I have with my back as a result of a few slipped discs 4 years ago. I would highly recommend Pilates as well to those who have back issues. I was close to having injections for the pain and so glad i gave Pilates a go.
  16. Hi there, I am starting my own Financial advice company in April after 15yrs working in banks. Originally I was planning to work from home however think its more sensible to find something out of the house to avoid distractions... I am looking at the communal spaces (we work types) in the area but I also wanted to look at the possibility of using spare desks in already established small offices in east dulwich who might be interested in some extra money. Solicitors, accountants, architects, estate agents I imagine but I open to ideas. I would just need access to the wifi and the kettle and maybe the printer which I could pay extra for. As a guide I would estimate being the office 2-3 days a week on average. Open to a discussion about rent etc and am open to short notice if the desk becomes needed. maybe send me a private message if you think this might be of interest and we can chat further. thanks very much
  17. Hello! Want to take my 2 and 4y olds fruit picking tomorrow as the heat is supposed to drop a little. Have been to Garsons in Esher but it's an hour in the car so was wondering if anyone had any recommendations nearer to our fair corner of London? Thanks very much
  18. We are looking to get an entertainer for 10-15 children 4 and under for an hour or so in the afternoon of saturday 12th of may. Would be in a local park if the weather is nice or in our home if the weather is not so nice! Any local entertainers out there or anyone with any recommendations? Bit late notice i know but to be honest, so is the party! thanks vm
  19. Rye cars have car seats although you need to book with a bit of notice usually as they dont have loads of car seats and need a bit of co-ordination. Have used them loads on my own and they are a reliable company.
  20. Summer is here! well, for the time being at least.. Just in case this is the best we are going to get, I am keen to get out and about with my 4 and 2y olds this friday for a paddle somewhere. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for places to go in our neck of the woods (or within a not too long bus journey!) for a toddler friendly paddle... Used to think brockwell park was amazing but they seem to now just have sprinkers so not as good as it used to be. Heard that there is one in ruskin park? thanks for the input!
  21. Hi there- has anyone been to these sessions before and can recommend?
  22. Hello! I am fortunate enough to have fridays off work to look after my two energetic boys. We try and do something active outdoors or in a class somewhere in the morning but i am finding that any classes/activities we do are either more geared to and/or more populated by the 1-3y old(s) and I would like, if possible, for my almost 4y old to have someone his own age (ie going to school in September) to chat and imaginary play with. If anyone has any recommendations of activities/classes that they go to with their pre-schoolers on a friday that i can also take my almost, but mobile, 2y old, to mix things up, that would be much appreciated! thanks very much
  23. Hello! me and my (wonderful) wife celebrate 5 (wonderful) years of marriage next year and are thinking about renting a house for one of the may bank holidays for us and some of our mates (around 8 couples total plus 8 kids under 4yo). has anyone done something similar that they would recommend? Ideally would be within 2-3hrs of london with either a beach near by or a pool on site. Have seen a few but just see so many vases and stuff for my little darlings to pull over and smash... Also would like to look at having the possibility of catering for dinner for the adults on one of the nights but that's not essential. Any insights/recommendations would be very helpful. thanks very much
  24. Hi there - we have a loft room with a low ceiling height (I can stand in the middle right below the top of the roof but everywhere else i have to crouch down). Its already been converted into a room as part of the rest of the loft conversion but at the moment not able to be used as much aside from perhaps a playroom for the kids due to head height. it is a big space in terms of floor though so would easily be a double bedroom if there was a dormer to the back. We could lower the height of the below bedroom but i want to avoid that if possible (because the bedroom so i was thinking about perhaps giving a dormer conversion a sloping roof upwards from the apex of the roof (or perhaps flat from the apex, eventually going higher (to avoid being able to see it from the front (for the planners). I know this means i would need planning as doesnt qualify under permitted development but i was wondering if anyone had ever done this or (for any local architects) if the planning people would just laugh at me. If its a function of impact to neighbours, its worth noting that the dormer would be adjacent to a neighbour whose house is higher than us (they have a cellar and we dont so effectively almost a storey higher) so we would be nowhere near their roof height/overhang. I guess there would be some impact on them sunlight given our houses face east south east but there also wouldnt be any on the neighbours the other direction who have a roof height the same as us. Sorry its turned into a bit of a ramble. Nothing urgent, but with a growing family who love the area, I am looking at options! any experience or views from professionals very much appreciated.
