  1. Coal Rooms ... not East Dulwich but close enough.
  2. It's free to park, no permit needed.

Yes well, poor engagement is kind of the council's MO. Happy to see this going ahead, the new plans look like a bit improvement for passengers.
  4. Updated thread title: last chance to have your comments ignored yet again on STREET SPACE
  5. I made a similar appeal earlier this year, i.e. the signage was inadequate, but the appeal was rejected, so I paid the fine anyway. Will Southwark reverse paid fines, given that others have appealed successfully? It seems a tad daft that those who know a special number get special treatment.
  6. Alan Medic Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Well I appealed. Anyone say how long it takes to > get a verdict? I appealed in early May and have just received a response (appeal rejected sadly), so the backlog seems to currently be around 6 - 7 weeks. They do seem to put a decent effort into the response though and generally respond to each point raised, so kudos to the fines team at Southwark. Nice to see the council working a bit for their revenue.

Spot on, although the ED CPZ ended up being much smaller than planned as only a small number of streets fell for the 2nd question, so those streets and immediate surrounds were the only ones to end up getting the ED CPZ. You should check out the various CPZ threads though; lots of information in there.
  8. There was a loud party on East Dulwich Rd near Goose Green last night until at least 3am. Sounds similar to what you described, I wonder if they've moved down the road a bit? They'd put up a marquee so it was a pretty well planned event. The marquee is still up now, I shudder to think if they have the same thing planned again tonight.
  9. It's not quite Dulwich in the 70s, but this fascinating recent upload does cover Denmark Hill in the 60s:
  10. Near Goose Green, BT are reliable but *extremely* slow (3mbit). Virgin OTOH are unreliable but *extremely* fast (300mbit). I prefer Virgin and then tether to my mobile when their service goes down, which lately is about once a month. It's a bit of a pain but 4G on a mobile is still miles faster than BT copper, and my mobile plan can handle a few days a month of extra bandwidth usage.

  12. Unfortunately virgin has been pretty flakey today around Goose Green. The reason I don?t switch to something else is because the only other option is ADSL which has a max of 3mbps according to BT. I actually just switched from BT after about 5 years with no issues, but the speed was just too slow for WFH and video conferencing. At least virgin provide 300mbps, when it works. For today though I?m on 4G, which is still miles faster than BT!
  13. Van Moof also have a 14 day returns policy.
  14. The junction at Melbourne Grove and East Dulwich Grove is already a bit sketchy, wouldn't this make it 10 times worse? It'd also make the Lordship Lane and East Dulwich Grove junction worse for pedestrians, how would that be sorted out once and for all? Keep in mind East Dulwich Grove is half the width of Lordship Lane already, and has less space on the pavements, so I don't see how sending more traffic down it will help anything.

The main reason for the lock-down is to flatten the curve and to avoid overwhelming the NFS. Even if you think you won't catch it, or you think you're in good enough health to survive it, you have to consider the impact that the coronavirus left unchecked would have on all parts of the NHS. That *could* end up having a direct impact on you, e.g. if you need to use A&E for an unrelated reason.
  16. Is the CPZ now in effect? I've noticed it's been much harder to find a park on Worlingham rd in the past week. Prior to that, parking was not a problem at all, which is why I voted against the CPZ.
  17. I got a ticket on Sunday - I had not realised the signs were now in effect, since they've been up for months... However the notice was just a warning with ?0.00 to pay. I'm not sure when the grace period will end, but I can't imagine they'll be lenient for long.
  18. Gutted to hear this! Brick House was a jewel of East Dulwich and will be sorely missed. Hopefully it lives on in some form, although I can understand how devastating it would be for the owners to have to go through this, and why they would not want to start from scratch all over again, so sadly I don't hold out much hope.
  19. +1 for Silk Road -1 for Wuli Wuli - used to like going there until my partner got food poisoning
  20. A mysterious bulge in the road has appeared overnight eastbound near the bus stop at the roundabout end. I?m guessing it?s caused by a water or gas pipe? Anyone know what it is or how to report it? Will try to get a photo later.
  21. Lordship Lane has been clogged with traffic for the past couple of days, is that related to the same closure?
  22. worldwiser Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I think it's inaccurate to state that a CPZ is > predominantly designed to stop commuters. Its > purpose is to benefit residents. Could you, or anyone willing, please describe the ways in which it benefits residents?

No surgery is close > other than Goose Green Clinic but that is just for > yoga. I initially thought this as well and was struggling to work out how it could be, but I think these are shared 'permit and paid bays' rather than doctors bay. The colours on the map key are identical so it's extremely difficult to tell them apart.
  24. Would someone be able to explain how implementing a CPZ will increase car spaces for residents? Are a lot of cars that are currently parked in East Dulwich being parked and left on our streets by people from other boroughs, and once there is a CPZ all those cars will disappear? I'm genuinely interested to know how this works.
