  1. If you fail to get one from someone, then Green Cuisine on LL rent number cake tins out. I used the number 6 last year - worked well. It's about ?3-?4 punds to rent for 2 days I think and they ask for a deposit (?20) which you get back of course.
  2. Just got that too....makes me feel sick! It says it was a Year 6 child btw.
  3. Brilliant!! Will tell my other half...he has a moth problem in his flat, something he has largely ignored (while moaning about the increasing number of holes in his clothes)- he didn't want his patients or people on the bus thinking he smells of moth balls you see....however as they may start commenting on the holes in his clothes soon, it's time for action!!! lol
  4. Undiagnosed breech at 41 weeks, baby estimated to be 4kg (which he was!)....I didn't find ECV painful just a bit uncomfortable but then again it didn't last long as baby wasn't budging!! The doctor and nurse were really nice and I felt quite at ease...but then I am quite laid back! Ended up with c section which I knew was likely so that didn't worry me really....was just excited to meet my baby and bring him home....just the two of us! Managed absolutely fine on my own after c-section - thank God! Sending you positive thoughts! xx
  5. Hi EDmummy I have always travelled alone with my little boy in the buggy to Stansted on the 78 bus from opposite Peckham Rye Park(turning left from East Dulwich Rd into Peckham Rye, first bus stop) to Liverpool street and then the Stansted express (didn't want too many changes, stairs etc so it worked for us). The bus takes about 35min and I don't mind the journey but always make sure we have plenty of time (traffic) and then the Stansted express train to Stansted 50min (the Stansted express is getting so expensive though). If anyone knows of an easier route I would be interested in knowing it!
  6. Can't really help....I had the complete opposite, my 5 year old turned around when he saw 'Father Christmas' at a fair last year and said "what?! Santa is real?" :)
  7. Jamen da, hvor hyggeligt! Kent House er godt nok ikke lige rundt om hjoernet men Dallas (6 aar) og jeg vil gerne med (naar vi kan). Arbejder, saa kan kun i weekenden. Jeg sender en mail. Betina
  8. Hi Bonfire If you don't mind baking, Green Cuisine on LL near EDT rent out number tins. I have used their 5 and 6 number tins and my son loved them :) ?20 deposit required when you pick up tin, you can then keep them for 4 days and then pay ?3.50 when you bring tin back and get the rest of the deposit back. Just to let you know.
  9. My son has just gone into year 1 at Heber - so last year was our first year of trying to manage with all the school holidays! It went well though but was quite a transition from nursery. I tend to take half terms off but we also managed through play dates and kind parents from school and colleagues that don't work full time for the odd days. I used Southwark Council play scheme over Easter (Dog Kennel Hill) which is about ?56/week for full time (I needed the hours of 8am-6pm and had priority booking through working at King's). During the summer I used New Gum Boots on Darrell Road mentioned above which cost ?22/day and runs 8am-6pm. Both were fine and my son enjoyed it. Friends of mine have used other clubs around here but they were too expensive and/or the hours didn't suit my long days. My advice is to plan ahead - it all works out somehow (Good luck!)
  10. Tripp Trapp all the way (but then I am Scandinavian) :) Worth the money....my 5 year old still sits on his! I think they are fantastic! You can take of the baby attachements which allows your toddler (who no longer likes to be strapped in a high chair!!) to climb up and sit at the table by themselves rather than having to get them onto a chair where they can't reach their food ;) I have loved it and thought it was money well spent. Actually have a brand new one still in the box - never managed to give my little boy a sibling :( probably should just sell it actually...
  11. I find them pretty strict with fluids/baby foods etc. A couple of years ago I was asked to open my son's shop bought rice pudding to taste in front of them....and then I chucked it straight in the bin...in front of them! So now we do not bring any fluids or non solid food but buy it in the airport....
  12. Hi Kristymac1 My best friend is moving to Ibiza this month :( I'm planning on heading out there too for half term.....for part of the week anyway. I shall let you know if she has any ideas/info....she hasn't got children but I'm bringing my 5 year old son so was going to look into this myself. Bx
  13. mrs.lotte - just my thoughts. I enquired for months re: when swimming lessons would re-start and if there was a waiting list. I was told September and no there was no waiting list. I went with friends and 3 children for a free swim Sunday....needless to say we lasted just 30min in the water as it was just too cold! Was told of the emrolment process for swimming lessons (no phone calls, no online booking, no afternoon/evening enrolment). I came with my 4 year old at approx 6pm (after work) Monday and stood there patiently before being told that all Ducklings, pre school and level 1 classes were fully booked!!! We were not the only ones leaving dissapointedly on the 1st day of enrolment. I knew there would be a rush as we finally have a new pool but seriously, children of working parents did seem to lose out. Surely there must be a better system! I was also left dissapointed by the opening hours of the creche. Was told 9.00-13.30 (Mon-Fri). I'm hoping this is not correct as it would be the same old story of no provision for Sat/Sun for working parents that want to stay in shape too! :( Anyway enough moaning. The centre does look great and I'm sure that when the gym is finished and the temperature of the pool is sorted it will be even better!
  14. Good for you for complaining, I hate Npower sales people! Had some Npower guy come to our block again the other day and like all the others he was so pushy and arrogant not to mention patronising, I had to 'politely' shut the door in his face to get him to go away as he just wasn't listening to my 'I'm not interested' and 'I'm more than happy with my current supplier'.....drives me mad!
  15. Oh Dear it keeps happening!! My sister sent me a parcel from Europe (sent as letter so should come with Royal Mail from my experience).....still not here two weeks later and no 'pick up note'. Two out of three things ordered on Amazon did arrive but one still missing and will luckily be replaced. I sometimes have to pick up my parcels at Cans on Forest Hill Road (usually parcel force though). Called them they were very helpful but didn't have my stuff. Tried Sylvester Road sorting office and was told 'If you haven't got a note through the door love it ain't here'.....they also never pick up the phone, have called them numerous times and it's definitely the right number. Very frustrating.... Rpyal mail has infprmed me if the parcel has still not arrived after two weeks I can complain (and I suppose I have nothing better to do!!!!!) Moan moan..... Bx
  16. I recently ordered stuff on the internet for the first (and last) time since living in my new flat in Crystal Palace Road. They were kindly delivered to me by a woman who lives in my block!! The parcels had been left for anyone to grab on our post boxes in the main corridor!!! Apparently someone ordered an Xbox with games which was also left just there for anyone to help themselves too. I think it's outrageous and will now be doing my xmas shopping with a toddler in tow on weekends around London....not good!
