They're even allowed on dual carrigeways with 50MPH limits or lower if they have a flashing orange beacon, which seems just bizarre.

Half of Peckham Rye Park - to the southeast of the lake - is in SE22, I assume that doesn't count as ED?

You rather flatter yourself in thinking that dealing with you is anything other than a minor divertissment in my tea break; there are those on here of opposing views to mine who talk sense and are courteous and it's well worth having a debate with them, but you are most definitely not of that ilk. Say nighty-night to Villager for me.

"Do try and get out more and try to find a job rather than hanging around the EDF all day." "edphstaff , you come across as a militant bunch of left wing whingers." "Stop whinging and get real." Not to mention a sweet little personal signoff tribute of "FORH". Admittedly he's been nastier on other threads, but I wouldn't exactly call that polite, would you?
  5. Otta Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Bit of bullying towards GG here because he doesn't > agree with the popular view. Given that Green Goose is a UKIP supporter, self confessed troll, a person who thinks that if someone shouts "terrorists" at Muslims in the street they should be pitied not censured (because, apparently, they're "suffering" from Islamophobia), has a nice sideline in advocating cruelty to wild animals, who is deeply offensive to all those who disagree with him and who for reasons best known to himself maintains two separate identities on this site, I'm happy for him to get anything that's coming to him. And he's not being bullied, apart from one comment above people are simply quite rightly disagreeing with his hateful and puerile right-wing views and his bellicose spiteful attitude.
  6. It's possible to schedule tweets to go out automatically at some point in the future, so maybe that was done - personally I was working late last night, slept in and so didn't hear the news from Manchester until 8.30AM, quite possibly the same for the tweeter. Nothing to see here, I think.
  7. It's completely illegal. I think there are cases where, as has been done in Dulwich past the gallery, a case could be made for "shared use" pavements - I noticed at the weekend that the road from Stretham Hill down to Tulse Hill would be a prime candidate, ten foot pavements on each side - but until then no adult should ever ride on the pavement, it's stupid, selfish, dangerous and gives other riders a bad name (and I speak as a massive cycling fan/advocate).
  8. "Do try to get out more" - how witty, and just the other day you were telling someone else to "get a life." What an intellect! I won't bother giving you details of the life I lead as they're none of your business, I will say that at least I have the courage to post under my own name and don't resort to having multiple accounts as you do. I don't respond to every "little tweak" but I must confess I do enjoy ragging on far-right bigots with little sense and less knowledge, and you fit the bill so perfectly it seems a shame to let your drivel pass unanswered. As for the part of your post which does not consist of jejune insults (I mean do at least try to make them in some way entertaining or interesting), you believe staff have no right to make demands on an employer as long as they are fulfilling their legal obligations, i.e. paying the minimum wage. So no staff should ever have the right to take strike action over their wages provided the minimum wage is being paid. Risible. As per previous, kindly do not reply via private messages as your emails will henceforth be deleted unread.
  9. I think the OP said the person was taking pictures of "people with dogs" rather than their dogs - which, if the pictures are being used to campaign against dog walkers, would certainly cause me concern (were I lucky enough to own a dog).

You regard it as a laughable concept that when a company makes huge profits any of that profit should be utilized to improve the terms and conditions of its workers? Seek help.

Because apart from cats everything else in nature is just lovely to everything else, isn't it? We know you don't like cats, do you like the rats that would proliferate and predate on the bird population and spread disease if they weren't being kept down by the feline population?

If people are happy to play music to add > to people's enjoyment that's up to them and I'm > sure everyone involved will be extremely grateful > and the day will be made more enjoyable. This. I used to play rugby for free because it was my hobby, I cycle for free because it's my hobby, some people have a hobby of playing in bands and just like to have an audience. Whenever, on any forum, people enquire about a band playing for free there will always be others who get on their high horse about "musicians" needing to be paid; professional musicians, of course, amateurs doing it for a laugh, no. The OP didn't say "are there any professional bands that are willing to play for beer and burgers?" - just looking for a few keen players who might enjoy playing for a laugh. If someone said "anyone fancy playing in a five-a-side team for fun?" nobody would be saying "Oh actually athletes ought to be paid!" but apparently when it comes to music anyone who can pick up a guitar is suddenly a pro - I wish this were the case, I'd make a fortune! Hope you find someone DC.

Oh come on - I'm no fan of air travel and haven't been on an aeroplane since 2002 for environmental reasons, but they don't dump fuel over London, they only ever do so in an emergency - when they have to return to a base and would be too heavy to land - and then out at sea, if they were dropping it on London we'd really, really know about it.

Yes quite right, usually would, but they're so traumatised at the moment - taking it in turns to sleep by her bed for the last week (it's been a bit more complex than originally thought) that they haven't much time to think of treats! Thanks again for all the kind suggestions, much appreciated.
  17. Walked by there three times today and it seemed to be working a treat - bus lane light only turning green when a bus was coming, switching to red as soon as the bus passed, didn't seem to be being triggered by bicycles (I regularly cycle down there and I've never noticed it switching for me!). Perhaps it needs some tweaking but from today's observations seemed to be working fine.
  18. uncleglen Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Whatever it is- it's too little too late Thank you ray of sunshine. It may, depressingly, be too late for the planet - though opinion is divided on that - but it's not too late to give people clean air to breathe. Remember how sparkling the air is when it shows and nobody can get their cars out - twenty-four hours and a favourable wind is all it takes.
  19. One to think about for the cat-haters, for I fear there are such people, on the EDF: it's estimated that if all domestic cats were removed the rat population would quadruple in months.
  20. Cheers will have a look.
  21. Haven't noticed them doing it - is this just recently? The lights are supposed to change in their favour as they approach, from a sensor in the bus lane, maybe it's malfunctioning. Assuage your annoyance by reflecting that if it was working the lights would be turning red against you so you'd have to stop anyway...
  22. Many thanks for all the suggestions, they sound great - I can see I shall have to spoil this child long after she's cured!
  23. I really honestly have yet to make up my mind, any of Labour, Lib Dems or Green has a chance of my vote, and yes I guess as it's the first time I've even considered not voting Labour at a general election in thirty years that says a lot about my view of Corbyn. Mind you, I can both think he's all I said above and still think he's been given an unfairly rough ride in the press compared to the robotic power-hungry May.
  24. Persuasive arguments Robbin but not entirely convincing - for example, if I'd been around in 1945 I probably would have thought Mr.Churchill would make a better Prime Minister than Mr.Attlee, but I would still have voted Labour, and that wouldn't have been "in spite of" Mr.Attlee. One can think candidate A is more fitted for the premiership than candidate B without necessarily holding candidate B in contempt. Not that we have anyone of the calibre of either of those two aforementioned standing today, of course.
