  1. Hello all, My car was stolen on Thursday from Quorn Road, outside my home. It is a Ford Fiesta, registration BG17 ZZT I have reported this to the police, but a neighbour suggested it might have been parked up locally to check if there’s a tracker before moving it on. Could you please keep an eye out in case this has happened. I’d be very grateful
  2. Sainsbury’s has a booth by the exit doors
  3. Hey Trinidad, not sure if you are aware but the permit price went up to £225 a year for ULEZ compliant cars and to £300 for non compliant cars in April.
  4. The problem here is that having a CPZ will make no difference to your parking problems. I live opposite East Dulwich train station and we had a CPZ added years ago. It is enforced from 11-2 Mon-Fri and you can phone a number to pay for parking. This means that after 2pm, parking is free again and if you pay by phone you can leave your car there all day. We do not have restrictions inside the estate, so commuters just park inside at no cost and we residents now pay £225 a year to maybe get a space in the street Definitely be careful what you wish for
  5. Here is a link to a petition shared on another thread https://chng.it/pQZzR97G
  6. The worst part for me is that they introduced street permits to stop commuters but did not set up permits in our estate. This means the commuters just park for free inside my estate! They added parking spaces and double yellow lines to cut down on the number of cars which are able to park and now have added this huge hike. It’s all very well saying that we have public transport but I do not feel safe travelling on my own at night. I feel very sad that people are supporting this crack down on private cars, which will only ever affect the poorest of society. We are going backwards to a time when only the rich could drive and it’s being cheered on as some kind of win.
  7. I bought a portable unit last year and was advised by a friend to buy a window seal kit. It cost about ?13 and is basically some Velcro to stick all the way around the inside of your window frame and then a triangular shaped strip of fabric that sticks to the Velcro, so when you open the window to put the vent tube out, it stops the air from getting out too. It comes with a zip, you open the window, undo the zip and stick the tube through the open zip and out of the window. When you are finished you simply remove the tube and the window closes with the seal still intact. I couldn?t get the link from Amazon, but if you search for air con window seal, you will see what I mean. It took less time to set up than I?ve spent explaining it! Really easy to do and keeps the draft out and the lovely cool air in!
  8. I think having a one way system for walkers is a good idea, but the Highway Code suggests the opposite. You are safest if you are walking towards oncoming traffic as you can see the cars coming. That way if you want to overtake a slower walker you can step into the road easier as you can see what?s coming. So effectively you walk facing the traffic with houses to your right.
  9. So having purchased a permit for the Q Zone, I got home late last night and there were no spaces outside so I drove into my estate and parked half in a bay and half out. This is normal parking in our estate since they built a block of flats in the upper car park and we have lots of displaced cars. I get downstairs this morning and there is a parking ticket on my car!!!! ?130 for ?causing an obstruction?. I phoned Southwark Parking and they said I needed to speak to Estate Parking I phoned Estate Parking and they put me on hold and transferred me to Parking Enforcement Parking Enforcement told me I need to speak to Estate Parking!!!! Whilst I fully accept I should not have been parked there, we have all been parking in this way, and worse, for as long as I?ve lived here, which is almost 14 years. There has been no communication about the new enforcement and there are no signs up to advise it is in place. Does anyone have any experience of this? Were we notified and I didn?t get the letter, as with the CPZ details? Any advice would be appreciated
  10. Just a quick update. Despite having received zero communications from the council, the CPZ went live today as the earlier poster, Sally, suggested it would. However, not only can people pay to park between 11-1, they can also telephone to pay!! So much for dissuading commuters. This is so underhanded I can barely believe it. Surely the whole point it to make sure the cars are moved between 11-1? I really do despair
  11. Does anyone know when the DKH CPZ is going to start? I live on Quorn Road and we have the parking bays drawn out and the signs are up, albeit covered in black plastic, but no notice of when it will start. I tried calling Southwark Parking, who claimed not to know anything about a CPZ and suggested I was imagining it! I then spoke with APCOA who confirmed it?s real but had no information on when it would start. I then got a call back from Southwark Parking to say there was a CPZ but no one knows when it will start!!!!
