  1. Evidence for any of these assertions?
  2. To avoid this being Lounged, do you think we could restrict the updates to those affecting ED or in close proximity?
  3. Fazer is a misanthrope and therefore should be excluded from a consideration of normal reactions in society.
  4. Not really - at least if one was there, there would be a slightly increased chance that it would be available, given the amount of blue badge holders versus ordinary drivers. Not sure that it's really our call to judge whether it would be pointless either, in view of the fact we're not affected directly by it.
  5. My experience has been that whilst some people are reasonable, there are just as many who, despite attempts at establishing rapport, still believe they have the right to dictate to you how you use your own property well in excess of what their legal rights of complaint are. I congratulate you on your good fortune if you've never experienced intimidation and harrasment from neighbours, but for those of us who have it isn't necessarily indicative of a failing on our side in basic civilities.
  6. That would only make sense if bays were exclusive to a property. As discussed above, that doesn't appear to be the case.
  7. The feeling that some people feel they have a right to have a say in what happens to another's property is a very English/British trait. When I've explained to friends and family in other countries about the custom that you're supposed to show the good side of the fence to you neighbours when you have paid for it, they have been stupified with laughter. I do think a lot of people think they have more social/moral rights to dictate their neighbours' conduct than they should. Sometimes, the cry of "you should be more considerate/neighbourly" is used to cover what can be bullying and intimidating behaviour.
  8. Rendel - Pugwash didn't say that (s)he wanted the disabled bay "set aside" for them.
  9. There have been financial disincentives for buy to let for a while. I think Ratty has it, although I know plenty of wealthy Labour supporters.
  10. Agents are also sometimes out for a quick sale to make the commission, dbboy. Don't think it's possible to generalise.
  11. Despite their obligations to do so, not sure all agents actually pass the lower offers on.
  12. What Clasug said. For 100K+ less you can often get very similar types of houses (with the benefit of upstairs bathrooms rather than off the kitchen) with more square metres of floorspace and bigger gardens, with better connections in Honor Oak. Yes, it's a bit yummy-mummysville and more suburban feeling than ED, but not sure the difference in culture is worth 100K!
  13. Agree about the overpriced stock comments though. There's a 2 bed place in Darrell Road I looked, and dismissed as grossly overpriced at ?600K, a couple of years ago. It's just gone back on the market (presumably the same owners as the decor hasn't changed) for just shy of ?650K.
  14. I've been tracking sold prices in ED and HOP since 2014. Period properties are holding their value or going up - identical stock to our house is selling for ?25-30K more than what we paid. Non-period have dipped quite a bit.
  15. [grammartede]"your" not "you're"[/grammartede] Excellent idea Earlydoors. Could you avoid pubs and restaurants as well please?
  16. Heh. And to clarify, my reference to average looking people was to your own complaint about a Peckham cafe, Yas.
  17. If I was in your position, I'd want to do something practical. So far on this thread, you appear to have claimed that the point of the petition/campaign is: 1. to stop the nursery from closing 2. to hightlight your perception that this is as a result of political decisions about cuts 3. to express solidarity with the nursery staff 4. to express that you are upset that this has affected you personally People on this thread have tried to get you to clarify your objectives, to point out to you that you can't actually achieve 1. with the petition because that isn't legally possible and to get more clarity on what your evidence is for 2 (which you still haven't provided beyond rumour). No-one actually called you a liar, but asked for evidence for your assertions. When you admitted you were mispresenting rumour as fact, you kinda branded yourself there. It isn't nice to be called arrogant, but if you refuse to listen to anyone who doesn't just say "well done Yas", it's understandable that people have inferred that - particularly when you have been hostile first. We understand that you are upset and angry, but how on earth are you helping things by lashing out at everyone like a petulant kid?
  18. There is a balance to be struck between your legal rights and common sense in maintaining good relations with your neighbours. As much as I strongly disagree with Fazer's chosen method of conducting himself, I have some sympathy with his POV. I have neighbours that are extremely quick to complain about anything that bothers them 9and make a point of telling me all the time how they used to be very good friends with the former owners), but seem to be completely unaware of the impact they make on me. I've come to think there is very little point in putting effort into appeasing complainers when the consideration isn't a two way street. Yes, affluent young professionals can make choices in developing their properties that don't impact their neighbours as much. Equally, neighbours can consider how their attitude might be attempting to hinder someone's legal right to develop their own property.
  19. We get that you're upset about this, but I don't think anyone has been insensitive to that fact - unless your definition of insensitive is "saying absolutely anything that contradicts my understanding of the world". Suggesting that people who disagree with you must be childless and therefore not be entitled to an opinion could equally be construed as insensitive.
  20. I'm genuinely torn as to whether you are a troll or have a persecution complex. No-one is attacking your campaign.
  21. Heh @ "growly bear type of person". Is this like average looking people in cafes in Peckham?
  22. Fazer, if you can't work out that calling people who you disagree with "ladyparts" is rude, then you need to consider mental health treatment. You are getting increasingly more aggressive and unpleasant.
  23. So the point of the campaign/petition was not to save the nursery, but to make the staff feel better?
