  1. Get over yourself. You've had a moan about what you consider anti social behaviour (someone leaving a buggy in your way) and when you get pulled up about what many others consider anti social behaviour ( eating on a bus) you have a hissy fit.
  2. It may not have been smelly, but the point is she's got a bit of a cheek, and completely misses the irony of moaning about buggys being left in doorways and then saying she's buying grub to eat on a bus, which I think is an equal display of bad manners. Throwing stones and glass houses is a phrase that springs to mind.
  3. I bet your fellow bus passengers wished a better job had been done of blocking you in with that buggy so that they didn't have to endure you slurping and slobbering over your smelly food on the bus.
  4. Reading that back I sound like a real wet blanket. It was brilliant.
  5. I've learned the hard way not to get carried away with friendly results. Remember when we beat Brazil at the Maracana with that Barnes goal. My cause for concern is our central defence. We conceded two soft goals and we will get found out in a tournament if it's not tightened up. Great performance from the Tottenham boys and Vardy though.
  6. Actually there are 2 'N's in the Bergkamp version.
  7. Bit random, but I think he was also named after Dennis Law. It's sad that Holland didn't qualify for the European Championships. They've been such a positive force in football for so many years ( we'll gloss over the World Cup final against Spain) For a country of 15 million people they have really punched above their weight and quite frankly have put us to shame. Cruyff and Rinus Michels were the architects of this and they have produced some of the greatest players in world football: Johan Neeskens, Johnny Rep, Ruud Krol, Marco Van Basten, Ruud Gullit, Dennis Bergkamp, Aaren Robben....the list goes on.
  8. On a Dutch theme I think Dennis Bergkamp's favourite player was Glenn Hoddle.
  9. Johann Cruyff, inventor of Total Football, along with Rinus Michels. He also invented the 'Cruyff turn' A true Dutch master and very sad to see him passing. 'Brilliant Orange' is a great book which is about Cruyff, Ajax, Holland and Total football. They were part timers when he started playing.
  10. I'm listening to a profile of Leicester on 5 live. It does seem like it's almost a celebration of Leicester being champions. I hate this type of media attention when it's heaped on Spurs, which is not often I admit, but we were being tipped as champions a couple of weeks ago. I think it could jinx Leicester. Stuff like this gets in the players heads. They start congratulating themselves before anything's been won.
  11. Dunno about that....I think Barcelona v Dortmund would be a great game.
  12. In spite of it being a fantastically open season you have to worry a bit about the overall standard of the EPL. Our clubs seem a million miles from winning one of the major European trophies at the moment and it was only a few years ago we were regularly getting teams in European finals. We're a million miles behind Barcelona, Munich and even Juventus. Although we fielded a weakened side, Spurs were totally outclassed by Dortmund. It may just be a cyclical thing I suppose but I can't see Leicester of Spurs pulling up trees in the Champions league next season.
  13. Well that's how it generally works. But Spurs took a chance on him and have reaped the rewards. They also gave Harry Kane a chance after a few loan spells and look at him. More clubs should do this.
  14. Yes though that backs up my point. There's plenty of talent below the Premiership waiting to be picked up. I think the progressive clubs will set up smarter scouting network so that they can find these players, if they haven't already that is.
  15. Though Dele Alli only cost 5 million, Eric Dier approx the same. But I agree, English players playing in the Premier league are vastly over priced and it encourages clubs to go abroad for better value. I think there is a lot of English talent in the lower divisions now and some Premier league clubs are taking a chance on them. Before the premier league it was commonplace to trawl the lower divisions for talent, especially as there wasn't a foreign market. Liverpool built a European cup winning squad with players from Chester (Ian Rush), Middlesborough (Souness), Northampton (Phil Neal) and the rest.
  16. City and United's spending has represented unbelievably poor value. I'm not sure who is responsible for the signings at either club, but they should be sacked immediately. I suspect at City it's those Spanish blokes they got from Barcelona. Mangala and Otimendi have been useless and each cost upward of 30 million. Sterling is turning into another Aaron Lennon/ Theo Walcott/ Tony Daley type speed merchant. Never ever worth 50 million squid. Di Maria cost 50 odd million then was flogged a season later. Was that down to Van Ghoul?
  17. In reference to both your postings.
  18. ...and Soldado, Paulinho and the rest weren't on clearance at Aldi either.
  19. To be fair we have spent a few quid here and there. We didn't win Lamela in a raffle.
  20. I'm a died in the wool Spurs fan so a bit biased, but I'm also realistic about us as a team. I have been waiting for us to do a 'Spursy' all season, but it hasn't happened yet. I almost think Spurs being second gives them a better chance of winning the league as the pressure is all on Leicester at the moment. A lot of people say that Leicester winning the league would be better for English football, and it's hard to argue with that. But I think Spurs winning would be just as good for English football because of all the young English players they have in the team.
  21. Fair point....and Carroll as he has affected games when he has come on as sub. Payet's no spring chicken and I think he's had a slightly 'troubled' career thus far. Not a criticism, but I wonder if he will be as effective next season as there seems to be a suggestion that he can blow a bit hot and cold.
  22. I think Spurs are the best team in the league this season. They have scored more goals and conceded less then anyone else. They have the most balanced squad, and as a young squad they can potentially improve. As magnificent as Leicester are, they are playing well above capacity. Obviously if Leicester win the league then they will have been the best team, but at this point of the season that's how I assess it. Spurs drew far too many games in the first half of the season and it could cost them.
  23. Leicester have been superb but I wonder how they will respond if they go behind in one of their remaining fixtures, or lose? Spurs looked utterly nerveless yesterday and full of youthful verve and enthusiasm, and there was a lot of pressure on them. I think if Leicester lose one they could do a Liverpool from a couple of seasons ago and crumble.
