  1. It was there a few weeks ago but someone had jammed an oven in blocking it completely.....
  2. I saw the mess in the photo above this morning too - the rest of the bins around the park seemed ok but clearly one party who dumped everything when they left - that's a bin they brought themselves too I think - looked awful, really selfish and sad....
  3. Excellent, that'll work perfectly, thanks MrsR - saves a load of pollution on the way to recycling!
  4. Does anyone know of anywhere to recycle an old kettle without having to go all the way to the Old Kent Rd?
  5. Does anyone know if the Forest Hill Rd PO takes parcels on Sunday, or is it just open as a convenience store / newsagent?
  6. Can anyone enlighten me on how audible really works? we've been considering it for kids audiobooks, and I initially assumed the subscription price includes the books- but something I read suggested not. So I pay the sum, then buy the books on top? What's the sub for? And I get to keep the books after - but if I cancel the sub, can I still play them through the echo dot? Anyone who knows and can share would be appreciated..! Thanks...
  7. Trying again as the mail still comes from afar and would be great to reunite the Knightly's with their long lost friends.....
  8. yes - those are the rules (MSE link). It was for over ?100, so not contactless-able (if that's a word). People can be alerted without me naming the business (maybe this will help), alertness applies across any transaction not just at this establishment.
  9. A well established Lordship Lane business (I won't name them) keeps trying to charge me credit card fees to use my card, which was outlawed in January - I've told them a few times and each time the fee is waived but the same thing is tried next time I'm in. Anyone else come across this in local shops - interested if this is widespread or a one off at this place.
  10. Never had a problem parking in the car park as a non member for many parties we've been to there.
  11. Found this morning along with other card near friern / lordship lane - if yours or you know Mr Akinshipo please PM me (I tried phoning one I was able to google but it's not his) Al
  12. how much are they charging for a cheap tea towel these days? - had them round the other night but didn't actually ask the price list. My recollection from a few years ago was it was over a fiver.
  13. Shame they didn't open up on the southern end of Lordship Lane though - no need to be right next to each other I'd have thought. That would have meant one for each end of town...
  14. Barely worked since Monday - was told last night it's a local fault and would be fixed by 10pm last night, but no joy yet. Anyone else having problems? We are in 'south side' ED near the horniman... Anyone else been told any useful indications of how long this might last?
  15. Just had an outside painting job done by Des Bradley, including windows and window-cills (filling cracks, squaring up, and painting). All looks great, given the front some kerb appeal vs the former crumbly neglected look, and had several people admiring and asking who did it. Des was great, felt totally comfortable leaving him to get on with the job and do whatever needed doing to get it all new and shiny. Comes highly recommended. Al&Em
  16. LadyDeliah - I think the issue is no lights in the dead of night, which means someone might not be able to see them to avoid the collision, with terrible consequences for the child, as well as for them..... It's not legal to cycle on the road at night with no lights, same as it isn't legal to drive with no lights...
  17. We've got a Dot and have used it for the last year with new born and (then) 2 and a bit year old. It's worked really well for us and I've been really pleased with it. But as with all buggies it's got it's pros and cons. Firstly, it's heavy but I think all double buggies are - fine if you're going in a straight line but difficult to manoeuvre up/down steps with 2 on board. I know others with older models of P&Ts who have remarked at how much lighter it's felt in comparison. And it's narrow enough to store in our hallway, to get through shop doors and for bus travel (even the P4/P13!). One issue we had was that our baby outgrew the newborn shelf pretty quickly (and he wasn't a big baby!) - by 4 months he was unhappy to go in there because his legs were so squashed. But we swapped for the double seat set up (earlier than the instructions suggested) and he was so much happier and slept a lot better in it again. He was possibly a little too small still for the seat but we put it on recline and was so much happier we just went with it. Think the difference between the Dot and Navigator is size - the Navigator is a tiny bit bigger (and might have different wheels?). But we opted for the Dot because our toddler wasn't particularly tall and I wanted the narrowest I could get. Definitely worked well for us and what we wanted.
  18. Hi there Does anyone know where I can buy a large piece of coloured card or paper (poster size)? I want to use it as a backing for pictures/paintings that my son creates and for photos to put up in his room. Or is there a nifty alternative that I haven't thought of? Thanks
  19. Does anyone have any ideas or recommendations for nice, stylish toy storage? With 2 children under 4, our house is rapidly becoming swamped in toy clutter (particularly cars!). At the moment we're surviving with multiple Ikea storage boxes but we're particularly keen to find alternative storage solutions for our living space downstairs or for our boy's bedrooms. Does anyone know any good websites or companies to look at or any tips?
  20. Thanks all. Will try and hunt some down! :)
  21. Does anyone know where you can buy locally stock cubes suitable for cooking for babies? I used to get the Heinz ones from Sainsburys but they don't seem to have them anymore - I've been 3 times to 2 different Sainsburys with no luck...
