  1. Hi all Congrats on all the new arrivals so far! I can make Thurs night (but other half will have to babysit). See you then. Em
  2. Last summer we were quoted ?70 for the week to hire one, so we bought one for a tenner from here and threw it away afterwards (it was pretty worn). We actually meant to just ditch it in Italy, but realised we needed it for the taxi home so ended up lugging it back as well. Would do the same again. A
  3. Hi Kate I've still got 3 more weeks at work to go but only work part time so have Thursdays and Fridays off at the mo anyway (but obviously with toddler in tow). We might be busy next week though (definitely Thurs possibly Friday), but otherwise would definitely be up for a park or playgroup meet up. Em
  4. We can still make it, if anyone else still fancies meeting up. Park somewhere would be good as it's a nice and sunny afternoon. Anytime from about 3pm ish for us.
  5. I have a vodafone suresignal box (they gave me it free) which works pretty well through my wifi to give me great reception at home - worth checking out. Without it signal was very patchy... Al
  6. Same here - looking forward to seeing everyone again on 21st. Clockhouse sounds great. In the meantime will try and make it to the Gardens on Monday. See you then...
  7. Sorry to go a bit off piste with this - we're a couple of years off the school application process but have our eye on both Horniman and Fairlawn as prime candidates. Quick question, how do you work out how far away from the school you live? Is it as the crow flies? Is there a website that can help calculate? We live near the Horniman and our neighbours have children at Fairlawn but it's a fair walk (given that you have to navigate round the park).
  8. Yup, that was me, Claudine - I have a toddler who turned 2 in March and am due in July with my second. Would love to catch up again for a coffee. Emma
  9. We should be able to do that day too - just hoping that the weather will be good! Will add to our diary. PS. BellendenBear - have been meaning to say congratulations on your twin news! That is amazing! Will be lovely to catch up again with your brood!
  10. And does anyone know roughly how much this would cost from experience?
  11. Me too. My second baby is due in July and my little boy will be 2 and 3 months. Would be keen to meet up too.
  12. Just to add that Nerris built us a 2.8m by 2.3m fitted cupboard in our kitchen in mid December, and looks great - really happy with the work and happy to recommend and vouch for. Doors specced to match our kitchen, at considerably less cost than off the peg, and with nice customisations as we wanted. Thanks Nerris.... Al
  13. Lewisham has allowed itself a leeway by giving a two day slot of when it might come - and so far have been within that slot. As long as they come tomorrow....
  14. Anyone know if you can get a point to point annual ticket on the Overground , eg Peckham Rye to Shoreditch High st without having to make it a travelcard?
  15. I've queued at the DMC from 8am before but used mobile to get in the phone queue at the same time - phone won...
  16. I have a memory that a local shops delivery service launched c 6 months ago - red and yellow branding, they leafletted Forest Hill station and basically allowed you to shop online and order fish from Moxons, bread from Franklins etc and have it all delivered together. Anyone know what it was called, and if it still exists? I can't find trace of them online... Thanks Al
  17. Thanks - sounds like we'll be ok then. Al
  18. Has anyone been to the volleyball today at Horseguards - if so can you help with the following info - we're going tomorrow morning: - Do you need ID to show along with the tickets (trying to work out if we need to turn up together or can split the tickets and go separately? - How bad was the security queue Thanks, Al
  19. No - was there a few weeks back but not at the moment. At least I was there this morning and didn't see it...
  20. Hi Sarah, We're on Wood Vale, LL end and also push a buggy - a 1 year old. We'd love to meet other WoodValers. Em
  21. Phew! Thanks all for your reassurance, definitely feel better about it now. Think we'll just press on then and hope that he might one day just decide to nap in his cot sometimes - optimistically naiive?? :)
  22. Hi everyone I've ummmed and ahhhed about this for ages but the book I'm reading (Your baby to toddler month by month) suggests that you should tackle any sleep problems now before they get too set in their ways. Problem is I don't know whether we have a sleep problem or not.... My little boy is 10 months old and has always been a good sleeper. He sleeps through the night routinely and has two naps a day (short morning one and longer lunchtime one). Problem is that he only sleeps in his buggy at nap times. I've tried getting him to sleep in his cot (which he does happily at night-time) but he just sits up/plays with his toys/chats to himself - everything but sleep. He is definitely tired because when I resort to rocking him in the buggy he goes to sleep instantly. And he's not unhappy or crying in his cot, he just doesn't go to sleep... The buggy thing doesn't bother me as he naps well and it means he can sleep when we're on the go or inside at home, so in that sense I'm not sure that it's actually a problem. But I'm worried that it might be for when I go back to work and he goes to nursery in a couple of months time... Or even that it could turn into a problem as he gets bigger and refuses the buggy! So do I need to bite the bullet and get tough about cot-sleeping or not to worry about it and just be grateful that he sleeps at all?! Advice/Reassurance very much appreciated!
  23. Hi Jenny Just wondered whether your napping situation had improved at all and was just a phase or whether you had to change your schedule and abandon the morning nap? My LO is just over 9 months and has suddenly gone from a very reliable, predictable napper to a total napping rebel - he's particularly uninterested in the morning nap and just doesn't seem to get tired (or maybe I'm not recognising the signs anymore...). He's just started crawling and so is very energetic and excitable at the moment. Feel like I'm spending so much time trying to settle him down for a nap, to no avail, and just making him upset :'(. So hoping it's just a phase, so wondered if you'd come through the other side yet?
