  1. I had them round about 3 weeks ago - when I said politely no, having listened for a minute or two, I got a sob story about what a terrible day he'd had, and I was going to make it worse. He wasn't easy to shift. If this is a genuine cause I'm with Spooniferous - the goods have to be reasonably priced. With a seven quid cloth they're asking a quid for a cloth and a six quid donation - which is quite a big donation for any charity you randomly encounter, as opposed to one you have decided to support regularly.
  2. I've suffered the heating on in summer thing too - on the few occasions I've complained I've been told they can only adjust it at the depot - quite why I've never understood - it can hardly need computer programming? I can just see the depot engineers face on a hot morning - chuckle chuckle - full heat today for those passengers methinks....
  3. How about making bus stops further apart - eg riding a 176 or a 185 down Dog Kennel Hill into East Dulwich, there is a stop at the top of the hill, one halfway down opposite Sainsburys, and one at the bottom by the station - all within sight of each other. Surely better to have to walk a few mins to get to a stop than have your bus once you're on it stopping before it even gets up to speed - that's why bus journeys take forever...
  4. I'm having a few problems with buildings insurance due to some subsidence over the years on a property we've recently bought (property is basically in great shape but a bit old, so has the odd crack and a few floors out of line - no problem getting mortgage on it). Does anyone know anything about the obligation of previous insurer to take on a property which has had some 'structural movement'?
  5. We popped along - it was very nice and surprisingly big I thought. But boy was there some traffic chaos on College Road - we got jammed up for 20 mins between the South Circular and the College Road gate because every P4 that was on the roads was trying to get down what had become a single track road due to parking on both sides, and no-one could move at all! Made me all the more curious about the fair, which obviously had drawn a big crowd.
  6. I heard that they've had a lot of problems with bus drivers not liking being tracked - especially at night when they like to stop off in dark corners and play cards with their mates (hope I'm not libelling anyone here....) - so they've been disabling whatever transmitter devices were used.
