  1. Not for us: We had a replacement roof done by Dave Jackson [07***850322]. The roof has been good - no issues at all. Dave and his partner were also good to deal with until we had problems with the scaffolders they use. At this point, having completed the job and been paid, Dave did not respond or take up the problems. Our window was damaged by the scaffolders with only a partial repair done. I pursued these damages but eventually I stopped getting a response. The company was Wellbonds Scaffolding Ltd in Tulse hill. London Uk SW2, owned by John Speer [07*** 466630]. I would not use either company/builder again and I do not advise others to do so.

  3. Another recommendation for Aston: he fixed our front gate which needed a spring and also had a split post. There was then an issue with it closing and he came back and amended it without trouble. Would use again.

  10. Hi James, Could you say why, please? The recommendations on here do look a little bit repetitive and not from many different people so it makes me suspicious but I don't want to judge him for that if it's unfair. Was the language barrier a problem? James3506 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > No idea about Electrical skills, but for handyman > work...avoid Franco like the plague.

  12. Hi there, Who did your damp proofing, please? Iheartlibrarians Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Yes, I'd like to add to this. 13. I rang Alan last night in an emergency and he said he's left London and gave me the details for Callow. I haven't tried them yet.
  14. Not sure if we caught him on an off day but I definitely wouldn't recommend Mark Newlove, our experience of him was very different to all this positive feedback - which I've checked and it looks legitimate. We found him quite cut throat, unwilling to come and give a quote but eager to come out and charge a flat fee with little effort to engage in the problem and the information I offered before he came. In the end I only called him in since the other plumbers I tried were not available at short notice. As a result, he came in, identified the fault, found a work around (rather than resolving it or providing a report) and asked how we wanted to pay. Bare minimum, bog standard, in and out, off to the next job. Cynical stuff. He definitely seems to knows his stuff but his manner and interest in customer service or satisfaction was really poor.
