Looking for a local seamstress

I'd like to second redjam's recommendation! And also direct you to the original thread, so you can all the others that recommend her: http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?30,1571347,1646339 She tailored some dresses for me, and made a dress for my mother based on a previous dress that had fallen to pieces! -
Hi everyone, I live on Dunstans Road and every weekend (throughout Saturday & Sunday) our neighbours have been doing construction work. It?s been pretty noisy and disturbing, and today I went over to ask them to stop as it?s a Sunday! They don?t seem interested in keeping it to more considerate hours - does anyone have any advice? Or is there anyone from Dunstans Road who this has disturbed too? I miss the days of having a a Sunday not interrupted by drilling or sawing.

The general argument does not appear to be against children cycling on pavements: but simply against inconsiderate use of shared spaces. Ultimately, pedestrians have right of way on pavements. Children should be expected to respect that, as should runners, those on mobility scooters, those with buggies etc. I appreciate children make mistakes and are harder to control, but that doesn't mean parents are devoid of responsibility in ensuring their children don't make pedestrians feel uncomfortable. Personally, I have no problem with considerate cyclists using pavements, but I can see that less mobile (or more fragile) individuals could find this intimidating. To the OP: That was not very nice of the pedestrian, especially as you say your child was polite to him. However I doubt the chap on the phone will see this, so I'm confused as to why you posted your complaint. Your child was no more 'in the right' than the pedestrian was.

Alterations and Sewing Service Offered!
charlie.gl replied to jo1973's topic in Request a Tradesperson
Just wanted to re-ignite this thread with another glowing review of Jo! I found her due to this forum, so thank you EDF :) Jo managed to do an amazing job fitting a pair of shorts and a dress to my troublesome body! I'm particularly impressed because she introduced seams to give the dress shape, and took my desire to have it as fitted as possible with a pinch of salt! If I had it my way, I probably wouldn't have been able to breathe in the clothes she altered, and hence would not be wearing them as much as I am now. She was also amazing at working around a difficult work schedule, and it's great to have someone so nearby to be able to go to. She's also a lovely lady to talk to and chatting to her has made me revisit my own sewing box too. Would definitely recommend anyone wanting anything tailored or made from scratch to reach out to her! -
Dogs being nicked from outside Sainsbury East Dulwich
charlie.gl replied to PeckhamRose's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
For those of you blaming dog owners, would you be supportive of dogs coming into food shops & cafes? It's better to take a dog out and keep it exercised, and occasionally that means a dog will have to wait where society doesn't allow dogs indoors. It's not cruel to leave a dog outside for a few minutes while you do your shopping (weather permitting). -

But where do you propose the bus stand goes instead? -
Alan from 1.2.3 Chimneys was brilliant! He was on time, and exceptionally tidy - the living room was in exactly the same condition as before he came. He also gave me some good advice on looking after the fireplace, and kindly kept a low profile while I was on calls. Very highly recommended :) http://www.123chimneysweeps.co.uk

Just wanted to add to these messages to say that Mario was a great help whilst moving! He was very quick with replying when we were organising the move, and helped us move from two pretty full flats into one. He arrived and was immediately carrying our heavy boxes down flights of stairs - all I can say is he's a very strong guy! He was perfectly on time (to the dot arriving at ours, and arriving at our destination!) and incredibly reasonably priced. It was also a very fun experience, he's a friendly funny guy and made the whole process really easy :)
