The staircases at both ends of Greenwich foot tunnel are to be closed from tomorrow as part of the refurbishment programme - no firm dates for re-opening but expected to be some time in 2011. Given the unreliability of the lifts this pretty much kills this option for cycliing between ED and Canary Wharf. Does anyone have recommendations for an alternative route?

Lived in Islington (Offord Road) before moving south to ED in 2003. We moved to get more space + garden for young family. Now we have v good fishmogers and butchers there isn't much I miss, although there is a slightly better football team in N1.

My daughter has been at First Steps for over a year and I'd have no hesitation in recommending it. Staff are friendly and reliable, kids all seem to be happy and learning lots.

The Green and Blue gang should rest assured that the 'lady at the heart of the storm' had a very enjoyable evening on Thursday, as did the rest of her party. It should be known that the initiator of this thread holds a slightly jaded view of this fine eating and drinking establishment due to the fact that it does not source any wine from vineyards in the West Midlands.
