    Great Gigs

Re Squeeze: Stephen Large is playing keyboards. He is a local lad (well, Deptford, I believe) and is a first rate replacement. He also has his own band: The Lord Large Experiment, who have an upcoming show at the Jazz Caff on (I think) 21/ix. Also, the Blockheads are doing another of their famous Christmas shows, this time at Shep Bush Empire on 23/xii. Vocal supplied by Mr Phill Jupitus (amongst others I would think). Their Christmas show at the 100 Club last year is in my top 5 best ever gigs. Martin Freeman occasionally does vocals too. (Every bit as good as the Pogues for a spot of pre-Xmas cheer.)
  2. Has Rod still got that highlighted hair? I saw him once on Call my Buff, and it looked he might have fiddled around at home with the peroxide.
  3. I love J Sheekey. It' consistently good and has a lovely vibe and not at all stuffy. (It may be tricky to get a table at short notice...) You don't say what kind of food you like, but Pearl in Holborn has a superb (I think Michelin-starred) chef, and really friendly service. Passione (Italian) on Charlotte Street is lovely, and the service is first rate.
  4. There are many ways, but my instinct would be to do the train straight to London Bridge, then a 521 which would take you to Holborn Viaduct. Thereafter, a 2 minute walk. I'm guessing this entire manouevre (?sp) would take about 30 or 40 minutes.
  5. BBC London, 6, 4 and 2 of a night. Christian O'Connell used to give good breakfast show on X, but it's all gone horribly downhill for him now I think.
  6. Alan Carr is fabulous. Not to be mistaken with Jimmy Carr, who is hideous in every sense of the word.
  7. Zizzi is passable, but probably unnecessary.
  8. Cheers guys. That is all strangely helpful.
  9. I'm new to the forum, so apologies if this question has been addressed in the past, but does anyone know what is happening with the shop at 124 LL? (It's the one next to William Rose the organic butcher.) Any information would be greatly received.
