  1. ok so I have just been to Bright Horizons and thought I understood it until I read all these posts again. They said the minimum amount I could do is one day - where of that one day 6 hours is paid for leaving four hours to pay for. So to put him in for one day a week it would cost ?133.40 a month. I don't think you can pay any less as one day is the minimum. I didn't ask but I assume that means you couldn't just put them in for the morning free session of 8-11 or the afternoon one of 3-6pm.
  2. Wow, ok so I am confused agsain....I'm going to Bright Horizons later today so will ask but I do want half days not a full day and don't want to be putting him in for a day but having to pay for most of it when the government vouchers do not cover it sll.I am sure that My favourite place nursery do do half days and so I could get that covered by the vouchers. I'm not sure if they break for the hoilidays there but I don't mind having him home for holidays
  3. Thankyou so much. I think i actually understand it now. I guess when I get to the point of signing up for a nursery i'll be able to say I only want three half days and ask if that will be covered.I'm not aware of any of the schools near me having preschools/nursery although that would be great
  4. Hi, I am struggling to get my head around how it works when your little one turns three with the government vouchers - the 15 hours of nursery time you are meant to get and how that works at all the various nurseries in Dulwich. I am feeling very confused and I am sure it really isn't that confusing. I assumed that if I wanted to put my little one when he is three in a nursery for three half days that if that totalled 15 hours it would be covered by the government and I wouldn't have to pay anything. However, one nursery I saw today said you do pay an amount on top of the free time because they are open all year. At another place I assumed that the three half day sessions of 5 hours each would be covered and I am sure they are open to all year......how does it all work??? I am interested in the Bright norizons nursery (which mentions the free sessions as being 8-11 or 3-6) and my favourite nursery. Thank you in advance
  5. We thought of that, but think two hours is more the limit of little one!
  6. Hi everyone, we are looking to get away for a week with our 20month year old in march and I just wanted To ask for any ideas.I think long flights and long drives are out and hotels.....struggling to come up with ideas. It's a whole different world planning a holiday with a; little one isn't it!6
  7. Great, will he post on here when the details are confirmed - that would be great
  8. thank you so much for replying guys - managed to lose my threas so only just read these. I will look into all of those ones, any more suggestions welcomed
  9. Hi all, I just wanted to ask some advice as really stuck for things to do at the moment. My little one is nearly 15months and having finished baby sensory I wanted to find at least one thing to do regularly each week. I have tried Gymbabes/tumbletots and although it was great for him to crawl around and play with all the soft toys that's all it seemed to be for an hour and so you end up paying for just playing in a room!!! I would like something that doesn't cost a fortune and is a bit more interactive like baby sensory used to be until he grew out of it. Any advice/recommendations appreciated. Thanks
  10. Great, I'm really stuck for things to do at the moment. My little one is nearly 15months and have finished baby sensory and wasn't massively impressed with Gymbabes/tumbletots...this would be fab, def keep us posted
  11. I would definitely like to do this and know a few others mums who would too
  12. Hi ? I am sure that questions on prams are always being asked but just wanted to quickly ask people?s opinion on the I-Candy Peach versus the Bugaboo. My hubbie and I have just started researching buggies and these two seem very popular and have the whole travel system. Importantly also, as we are thinking of going abroad when we have our baby for a holiday, they both ok to put the baby to sleep in so we wouldn?t have to get a holiday travel cot. We went into Peter Jones to try then both out and I think the Bugaboo wins, but just wanted to get opinions. It is definitely the one I see the most of in E.D. Also - if we did go for the Bugaboo does anyone have any recommendations for where to get the whole package at the best price? Peter Jones was very expensive and didn't for the cost include the carseat. I?d love to hear your thoughts.
  13. Hi all, Just been away but last Friday I visited the Magdala to have a look at the upstairs space they are letting us use once a month for free. I met with John - who although is not Reg - the owner! - is pretty much in control of everything and so has said to go through him from now on. He also is more than happy for us to use the space for free but unfortunately - now having spread the word abotu the first Tuesday of every month it can't be a Tuesday. As they have the pizza offer, which I know several of you were quite excited about, they are very busy and so couldn't o=afford to give us a member of staff upstairs. However Wednesday is no problem at all (Tuesday/Thursdays are Salsa. So change of plan - can everyone make Wednesday the 6th June as the first meeting and then the first Wednesday of every month from then on. If you could all post onto the forum whether this would work for you then I can get back in touch with John and confirm it. Wednesday is definitely a good mid-point evening - as in its all easy downhill to the weekend after that. Lucy - I hope that means that Thelma can still make it? Love Katie
  14. Wow Ruth - Great job - the blogsite looks great and already up to date................
  15. Hi all - I have contacted Tom so will let you know what he says - I have invited him to the first meeting if we hopefully have it beginning of June.I will wait to hear from Angela - SE22 and then update her when I do. If anyone has a contact in a national paper then we should think about getting in touch with them when we have had our first meeting maybe - it would make a great feature. Katie
  16. Ok great news - I have been in touch with the owner of the Magdala - Reg Buckley and he has said he would be more than happy for us to have free use of the upstairs space once a month on a Tuesday night (Monday's are currently the Salsa nights)There is a bar up their for us to buy drinks (and maybe we could eventually have some drinks for each meeting paid for from the fees each week) and the space can fit up to 60 people. What does everyone think? It means the next meeting cannot be Monday the 21st but could be the 22nd or any Tuesday thereafter. On a selfish note the first Tuesday I can do is the 5th June so it would be great if we could make it then - but understand it is a wait. If it wasn't too soon we could do another Green and Blue meetup with the W.I woman on Monday 14th - get all that sorted and then start our proper meetings on June the 5th and make meetings the first Tuesday of every month. Sorry just thinking aloud. Anyway it is great news about the Magdala and if we are all in agreement then I can go and check out the space this Saturday am and we could crack ahead. Please all let me know what you think. Katie x
  17. Mark from this forum has said that although he cannot set up a W.I tab on this forum as too specific he can help on the website - so whoever ends up organising this please do get in touch with him Katie
  18. Soz about spellings - half asleep Katie
  19. Ok - didn't realise there is a new post - thanks Lucy. I have emailed Mark as receiveed an email from him and asked him abotu us having our own tab obn this site - as it is difficult to track all of these conversations otherwise. I will post when I have contacted venues. Katie
  20. Hi all - Great to meet you all last night - this feels great that we are actually moving forward with this. I am going to try and crack on today and phone up possible locations such as the Magdala, EDT and the idock place. Lucy - you did a great job last night - let me know when you have asked the W.I woman about coming to the next meeting as it would be good to know if we are going with Monday the 21st or if she can't make it. I am free beginning of June so we could always all meet then and that would give us pletny more time to get things such as the location, website, blog and list of names going. If you have time to post up a few notes that would be fab then everyone who could and couldn't make it can catch up. One thing we should have done last night and didn't was go round the group and introduce ourselves a bit more - got names but it would be great to have a bit of background on everyone. We should definitely do that at the next meeting. Katie x
  21. Hi all, I have put together a document with all the names of those attending tonight and those who are not coming but that are interested and will bring with me tonight. See you all there - if we can keep the whole thing to an hour that would be great as I know several people have mentioned commitments later. Katie
  22. Will I be famous for getting the most people together from this forum? I think it is as follows, god knows what G&B will think katiesa - katie elfy ? lucy mumra ? lynn snowboarder ? claire missd - sandy kittenheels - emma jan t Louisiana Cupcake Ko Peckham perkster Mrs ed Specialk catmummy - Angela spymum Bumbalina seemalil Ruthmct clare C Chuff = 20 Interested, but can't make it: chuck & charlotte serif jo
  23. Wow - Little did I know my posting would amount to 17 of us meeting up next week - not sure we are going to fit in G&B - anyone is welcome as this is just an ideas stage - the more people the easier it might be to create this. I am 27, but 31 is definitely not old!!!
  24. Hi all - good to get names. Just to let you know I have had an email from Nick at idock - the office block next to The Sea Cow and he has said that we could use his space once a month for free - but only for a group of 8-10. Anyway I think as we are not sure on commitment to this whole idea at the moment that we should still just meet at G&B but it is definitely something to bear in mind. Again, as I am sure we all are, I am in the midst of chaos at work so hopefully something can happen but with lots of us involved.
  25. Whoever gets there first should bag a table for 8-10 (8 at the moment) and ask the staff to just point out where that table is to anyone asking about the WI meeting. It might be good for all of us to let each other know our names - there's me - Katie, Lucy(Elfy) what about everyone else?
