  1. Hi Vilmos, Can I suggest that if you experience problems getting a GP appointment that you speak to my colleagues in the NHS Southwark PALS Team (Patient Advice & Liaison) about that - they can get involved to help you get a more timely appointment, and the feedback about using local health services is used to improve services for the future. You can email them at [email protected] or call 0800 587 7170 (weekdays 9.30 - 12.30 and 2-4pm). Regards, Keri Lewis NHS Southwark Communications & Engagement
  2. Give Your Views about Health Services in Dulwich NHS Southwark is revitalising our plans for better health facilities for the Dulwich area, and step one is to agree the services that will be provided in the future, building on what people told us part of the Transforming Southwark?s NHS consultation which took place in 2009. We will be talking to local residents, groups and organisations from February to April and are keen to hear your views. NHS Southwark will be hosting a drop-in event at Dulwich Hospital on Wednesday 8 February 2012, 3 pm ? 7pm where you can come and talk to local clinicians and NHS staff about the plans. Copies of the engagement paper and survey will be available on the day. Further details on the drop in session and copies of the engagement plan and links to the survey will be available on the NHS Southwark website from early February at www.southwarkpct.nhs.uk Further information is available from NHS Southwark at [email protected] or 020 7525 7888 Regards, Keri Lewis Communication & Engagement Officer NHS Southwark
  3. Not specifically an East Dulwich issue - but wanted to bring your attention to a Southwark wide event. If you can't attend the event but have concerns, ideas, questions to share we'll also be setting up an online survey. If you'd like to join our mailing list and receive this info directly please email Keri Lewis at [email protected] Otherwise I will post details on this site or at www.southwarkpct.nhs.uk Thanks. Let?s talk about weight Southwark has one of the highest levels of child obesity in the country. More than 40 % of the borough's children are classed as "overweight and obese" when they leave primary school, and that?s storing up a lifetime of health risks for the next generation. We need to talk about weight and what we can do to shape up Southwark for the future. NHS Southwark and Southwark Council are holding an open discussion on 24 November to gather views, ideas and information, so if you are a Southwark resident, a concerned parent, or if you work or volunteer with families and children in Southwark, please come to join in the conversation about our children?s health. 24 November 2011 12 - 3.30pm Thurlow Community Hall, 1 Thurlow Road SE17 2US. Please email [email protected] or call 020 7525 0273 to find out more and book a place
  4. Here are two current drafts for a new leaflet - please send us your thoughts on: * Colours / design / general 'look' of them * Wording and language * Which bits do you particularly like or dislike? * Which of the two leaflets do you prefer overall? Any comments appreciated at [email protected] Thank you!
  5. The Stop Smoking service for pregnant women and new mums (with children under 5) in Southwark and Lambeth is designing a new leaflet and we would really appreciate some help to make sure we get it right! If there are any women who are smokers or used to be, we'd really like to get your feedback. It's such a sensitive subject, and we want to get the balance right between giving information, encouraging women to quit - but without preaching or sounding judgemental. Could you join our 'expert readers panel' and share your views? I will be uploading the two current leaflet drafts later today - and would really value comments and suggestions. In the meantime to join our 'expert panel' in complete confidence please contact Keri Lewis on [email protected] Many thanks, Keri Lewis Patient & Public Involvement NHS Southwark & Lambeth 020 7525 7888 [email protected]
  6. I'd like to invite the responsible, active citizens lounging in the drawing room to sign up for our NHS Southwark health involvement updates. We have a postal newsletter we send out quarterly, but we also send out regular (usually weekly)email updates to let people know about events & consultations that may be of interest. For example at the moment there is a consultation running about drug & alcohol services in Southwark, an event planned in Dulwich Park for families with disabled children, the Mayor's health inequalities strategy and a new consultation on patient rights in the NHS constitution. To sign up all you need to do is contact us on [email protected] (unless you want to sign up for postal newsletter we don't need any other contact details) - we can send you more info about our updates, or you can read more on www.southwarkpct.nhs.uk/get_involved You can also follow us on www.twitter.com/NHSSouthwarkppi Any questions, comments, suggestions - please do get in touch. Thanks, Keri Lewis NHS Southwark Patient & Public Involvement (PPI)Team
  7. Earlier this year many of you contributed to the consultation NHS Southwark carried out regarding future plans for primary and community health care, which included plans for a Health & Social Care Centre on the Dulwich Hospital Site. Many thanks to everyone who took the time to give their views. This consultation closed in May, and the feedback report is now complete. This will be presented at a Feedback Event on Thursday 23rd July, 12.30 - 4pm at Millwall Football Club. To find out more please visit www.southwarkpct.nhs.uk To book a place contact [email protected] or 020 7525 3171. If anyone would like to receive ongoing information about patient & public involvement in Southwark please join our database by contacting the PPI Team on 020 3299 6444 or [email protected]. 8. If anybody would like to know more about patient involvement in GP surgeries in Southwark, the Public Involvement Team would be very pleased to hear from you - not just at this practice, but if you are registered as a patient anywhere in Southwark. I have been involved in supporting this particular group to set up, and can reassure everyone here that this is a genuine patient group, led by genuine patients. There are several other similar patient groups across Southwark. If you get in touch with them as they have suggested I'm sure they would be very pleased to tell you about themselves and the group. It is not uncommon for Patient Groups to have an email account set up for them, especially where there are co-chairs and so that the email can remain even when people move on from the patient group - as I would not recommend that people volunteering in this way give out their personal emails on a public forum. Patient groups work WITH the practice in partnership to address concerns and issues, and that benefits both the patients (who are more likely to receive a service that better meets their needs) and the practice (who have less complaints and higher levels of patient satisfaction). Please do get in touch with me, or my colleagues Catherine Flynn & Nick Harris if you want to know anything more about public involvement. Our latest 'Involving People' newsletter features an article encouraging people to get more involved with their GP practice, so please let us know if you would like a copy. 9. Hi Luvpeckham, The consultation runs until 17th April 2009. Any more questions please do email me on southwarkpct.nhs.uk. Best wishes, Keri
  10. NHS Southwark is this week embarking on a consultation process for our primary and community care strategy, which includes the model for the Dulwich Health and Social Care Centre. As this involves a proposal to develop the new centre on the Dulwich Hospital site, we are particularly keen to hear from local residents. PDF copies of the Consultation document and the accompanying survey can also be found on www.southwarkpct.nhs.uk. I am afraid the attachments are too large to post here, but if anyone would like copies emailed or posted to them please get in touch (details at end). We want to involve a wide range of local people to give us their views and experiences, so if you are able to support us by passing these details onto your friends, neighbours, colleagues or service users, we would very much appreciate it. Paper copies are being delivered from Wednesday, and if you work within a local organisation and would like extra copies, please let me know. How can people give feedback? By POST: The survey can be printed out and when completed posted (no stamp required) to Transforming Southwark's NHS, FREEPOST, Milton Hall, 244 Deansgate, Manchester, M3 4BQ ONLINE: An on-line survey can be found at www.southwarkpct.nhs.uk Other methods of consultation This consultation is being delivered by a consultancy called Vision TwentyOne, who can be contacted on 0845 230 0139. As well as the attached written survey, they will be conducting one-to-one interviews, telephone surveys and focus groups locally, and are particularly keen to get in touch with groups that are seldom heard. If you have any ideas how they may be able to speak with groups of people from different ethnic communities, disabled residents, people with mental health concerns or anyone else who may have difficulty giving their views then please do contact Vision TwentyOne. If you would like to be on our direct mailing list - or if you have any other queries - please get in touch with our Patient & Public Involvement Team on 020 3299 6444 or email [email protected]. Many thanks, Keri Lewis Patient & Public Involvement Facilitator NHS Southwark
