  1. Hi all - Chris here - ex-owner of Number 22 (I can't seem to change my user name!) I've teamed up with local caterers Ginger Jar to produce a fantastic new pop up restaurant night in Borough on 1st April. We've found a fantastic period cafe and designed a menu that reflects London cuisine. We've partnered with Jensen's Bermondsey Gin and Fourpure beers for the evening - so expect excellent London drinking too. Tickets are ?45 for four courses and a welcome cocktail. We are down to the last handful of tickets which are available here - www.chrisadnittevents.com/tickets/caff Facebook event page here - https://www.facebook.com/events/489317991275934/ Hope to see you there. Cheers

This weekend it's the turn of the exceptionally talented Pippo de Palma on solo acoustic guitar. 5. Building and decor week is being carried out as I write - looking like we're on for re-opening in early September. Can't wait to welcome back our customers! Watch this space!
  6. Join the Herne Hill Flood Group for updates and news from the businesses affected.... https://www.facebook.com/groups/214873788669319/
  7. Mr Ben you're right.... the biggest help you'll all be to the businesses of Herne Hill will be to pay a visit when we get back on our feet. The danger is that we drop off the map / out of people's minds. Thank you everyone for taking an interest. Chris
  8. Thanks all - you can follow progress here http://www.hernehillforum.org.uk/news/aftermath-day-after-flood-pictures-trader-traffic-news And thanks for the offer of help Applesider. I'm waiting on instructions from loss adjustors before attempting a clean up... we have a catering company too which I'm keeping running - have a few jobs on this weekend so really juggling at the mo!!
  9. Follow our progress / show your support on Twitter #hernehillflood Thanks
  10. The businesses of Herne Hill (particularly Half Moon Lane) will need your support more than ever over the coming months. We have been devastated by this flood but are determined to come back stronger and better than ever. Follow us on Twitter by using hash-tag #hernehillflood Thank you for everything so far xx
  11. http://brixtonia.com/2013/01/28/lets-not-go-to-tesco-the-supermarket-invasion-of-brixton/ Brixton-centric - but highlights the problem.
  12. Chillaxed: Sainsburys Effra Road (planned), Tesco Express Herne Hill (coming soon), Tesco Express Brixton Hill (planned), Sainsburys Local Lordship Lane (recentish)... And yes, I do agree with Penguin 68 - except on the idea that chains and their staff are being "punished" by this campaign. The campaign seems to aim to get people to think a bit more about where their cash is going and encourage diversity... Giving independents a try rather than presuming that they'll be more expensive / worse quality.
  13. I'm not sure that encouraging people to try out independents for a month is going to lead to mass redundancies at Sainsbury's & Nero Huguenot.... but this is an interesting idea for our general area (and I'm spreading this to Herne Hill, Brixton & Peckham) given the current rash of planned new supermarket openings. And yes, independent grocery suppliers did ought to open at more convenient times for their customers - the Fruit Garden in Herne Hill is open until 7pm every evening for instance - more should do the same. Tweat up's response to the Canary Wharf question was to take a packed lunch & a flask... did make me smile.
  14. A great idea from Tweatup (over on Twitter) - #indiefeb - Support small independent food businesses this month by not buying any food or drink from chains or branded groups (5 sites or more) - so no Eat, Pret, Pizza Express, Nero, Strada, Youngs, Geronimo, M&B etc for a month. Gets particularly interesting if you want to extend it to groceries - no Tesco, Sainsburys, Waitrose, M&S etc for a month. If you live in Dulwich, Herne Hill, or Brixton this will be easier than it sounds! Follow us on Twitter - @No22Restaurant
