  1. Appears to be a burst water main, and the water at Herne Hill Junction looks to be a metre deep! Impassable, so avoid, traffic already building up.
  2. I would strongly advise against cycling through the Rotherhithe tunnel on health grounds alone - it is not well ventilated from car fumes! I do the route via Greenwich foot tunnel daily, it is 10k each way from ED. 28-30 mins for me on a single speed fixy so probably quicker if you have gears. Typical route which involves traffic, but you can do this almost traffic free by heading over Telegraph Hill behind Nunhead. http://email.strava.com/wf/click?upn=FLdFplb9Rd0LY-2BmLy3OryvDDptMqBn6AAC1cAG-2FGDgJxgOBXaKFNA3i58hYZSC0oX9DIArKzqXHhF0OYe-2BXJDdBZUPlzHjLZcWNGjc0aJG2bm3h3EQ-2BkoZC4WTS05MM6X9OGelyznmRh7EZkyCS9mQ-3D-3D_UZ-2Fw3Bg8EOda-2F-2BSazO07kdPKHtvvoMTAxTUThB0UZbLZavDT
  3. Skip-gate update: Items clearly identifiable have been returned to their rightful owners (what were you doing dumping a bag of stuff with your medical records in...?) Seriously people, use your own dustbins!
  4. Dear residents of SE22, To the very few of you who have politely rung our doorbell asking if you could deposit a few small items in the skip outside our house, thank you. To the dozens of you who seemingly haven't bothered, please please stop dumping your crap without asking or learn some basic manners. Or just pay for a skip, like the rest of us. Very annoyed, Crawthew Grove
  5. I agree on the ground anchor point, very secure. Have also wired the shed into our burglar alarm system and it doesn't hurt to put a sign on it to that effect.
  6. Couldn't agree more Jeremy. ED is a great place to live, I've been here since 2002. As others have already said, relative to some other areas of south London within the circular is still good value. 7. Not all true, I am a (ahem, front-office banker) and proud owner of a 4 bed house near station bought in last 16 months for c.600k. If you search hard enough, the properties are there. If you bargain even harder, they are there for the right price. benmorg Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > chantelle Wrote: > -------------------------------------------------- > ----- > > also plenty of bankers and other City types in > ED > > and environs ... shhhh. > > Sure, but they're invariably back-office staff.

  9. Hear hear Penguin68. I think ratty is just being a sourpuss - the signature says it all !!

Likewise, we are out most days. Agree that an M&S or Waitrose would be ideal, but there is always just being organised and having your shopping delivered late once in the week.

  12. Tessa, this is really excellent news. Thanks for your efforts.
  13. This has to be the funniest thread I have ever read on the Forum. Bring on the ED class war! Would DJKillaQueen volunteer as leader of the militant anti-Waitrose crowd? Maybe Pearson could front up the right...
