  1. Well said Fizzy. And NewWave, I saw the way your previous post was pounced upon and feel for you. Of course you are allowed a coffee for goodness' sake!
  2. Thank you Sally for your excellent work!
  3. Can vouch for Michelle. She's looked after our cats several times whilst we've been away and has always been reliable and with great communication.
  4. I have to say that I do take exception at Rye Lane being labelled a s****hole. Surely DulwichFox must realise that a considerable number of forum users live on Rye Lane or in the immediate vicinity? Is that really what this forum is for - slagging off each other's areas? Wouldn't sympathy for the original poster, perhaps with thanks for the warning etc. would be a more normal response?
  5. We've been very happy with Michelle (website: www.anypetsittingandwalking.co.uk) who is also local, and takes great care of our two whilst we're away. She always sends us nice pics and videos to reassure us that they're happy and safe and not missing us too much!
  6. Used AFE Plumbing today, and can confirm that the rave reviews here are entirely justified. Great communication from Aria, and great friendly service from his brother Dan, who arrived on time and within an hour had managed to diagnose a complicated leak under our kitchen floor. He's carried out a temporary fix straightaway, and has very clearly explained the work that will be involved when we are ready to dig up the floor and fix it properly. Thanks AFE!
  7. Just to add another recommendation for John Powers, who came over to service our boiler this week. Very knowledgeable, efficient and friendly. Will definitely be using him again.
  8. I would highly recommend WD Scaffolding (07790 987616). Lee and his team did an excellent job, were very friendly and helpful throughout (including coming out on repeat visits to add extra bits on requested by our builders) and the price was very reasonable.
  9. Just another recommendation for Doug Hathaway, who has installed a run of wardrobes for us in our master bedroom. Top quality workmanship and the wardrobes look great. Agree with the previous poster as well that Doug is friendly and polite - a pleasure to deal with.
  10. A huge recommendation for Rob Payne (despite my username not me by the way!) of Stone Rejuvenation (www.stonerejuvenation.co.uk) The brickwork of our Victorian house (previously hidden under rendering/pebbledash) was in a terrible state. We had assumed it was beyond repair and would have to be rendered over again, but with Rob's skill and patience it has been lovingly restored to its former glory! It looks like a totally different house and we couldn't be more pleased. Rob is a pleasure to deal with, always turning up on time, leaving the place tidy after a day's work and doing what he could to minimise disruption to our neighbours.
  11. I can highly recommend Jonathan Peck of Colin White Associates. He carried out a survey for us last year, before we bought our Victorian terrace in Nunhead, and we were really pleased with the results. The report itself was extremely comprehensive, and very specific to our property (as opposed to some surveys I've seen which have just been cut and paste general waffle). Jon was prompt in his communication and very pleasant to deal with. For the service received, we found the price very reasonable. We found him on the forum, so whilst not based in ED I think he does a lot of work in the area.
  12. A recommendation for Casa Fireplaces on Bellenden Road. Matt and his team were really friendly and knowledgeable and recommended the perfect Victorian fireplace for our living-room, which has totally transformed the room. In fact, we were so pleased with it that we also had two decorative Victorian replica fireplaces fitted in the bedrooms upstairs. The fitter, John, did an excellent and tidy job and was careful with our carpets and skirting-boards. Here's a picture of our cat Bernard enjoying the heat (don't worry - Matt has since given us a fire guard to prevent any singed fur!) http://i.imgur.com/cU1CjRQ.jpg
  13. Whoever is doing this is also operating in Nunhead as our car (Audi a3) was opened today, thankfully nothing was in there to steal but they had a good rummage around. I'm an obsessive checker so I know I would have locked it! Sorry to hear about those who have had stuff taken.
  14. I've been in touch with Miguel and he's asked me to post this message for him, to say that he is taking appointments for home visits. He can be reached on 07821 385256. Hope this helps!
