  1. They should reopen the road through the park too.
  2. Nice to see the Dulwich Village motoring lobby promoting their cause with "All Streets Matter". After all, what could benefit your cause and your purported concern about BAME SSouthwarkers than appropriating the "All Lives Matter" slogan of white supremacists?
  3. You can report this online via the Met website as well as through 101.

Think of the P4 bus route. Think of how much of it has bus lanes and red routes. 🙄

This is the epitome of concern trolling - "gosh, I'm just so passionate about investment in public transport that I don't think car drivers should be inconvenienced".
  6. Perhaps Salmond is hoping more of that sweet Russian lucre can make its way into his party's coffers, just as anti-establishment parties in many European countries gave received cheques from Putin. Salmond is already a commentator on Russia Today.
  7. Because April is the first month of the financial year.
  8. I have no idea. Fix/clean the bogs and replace the carpets, and the Castle would be great.
  9. Abe_froeman Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Can't those people just cycle to Dulwich College? > Why not, what's wrong with them? Maybe it's because lots of them are 13 years old and cycling through London isn't safe due to the volume of inattentive, speeding drivers and the lack of safe cycling spaces. Now you mention it, someone should do something about that - you know, something to reduce the volume of traffic close to all the schools in Dulwich, and discourage private car drivers from going along key routes at rush hours... 🤔
  10. @kid Kruger: you're offering a good faith reply to someone that's trolling

Routing the P4 down Court Lane instead of the South Circular and College Road would mean that Dulwich College (a destination for literally hundreds of staff and pupil journeys each working day) and Dulwich Picture Gallery (which quite a lot of people visit in summer) would get cut off from the service. In contrast - there are no institutional buildings on Court Lane.
  12. The Plough has been open since the 19t century, hasn't it? 🤣
  13. Spartacus Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > heartblock Wrote: > -------------------------------------------------- > ----- > > Good public transport is key to reducing car > > use...absolutely agree... > However this doesn't mean penalising cars to make > it run faster It is dreamland to imagine that bua transport can improve without inconveniencing car drivers. Buses need more dedicated street space, priority over cars, and fewer cars in the way.
  14. I don't understand the economics of the business at all, but agree that every time I've been in the Cherry Tree it's been fun. I think they had quite a good quiz in there at one point.
  15. What is the point of this snippy thread? Are you people literally expecting to see councillors hanging around on street corners like ice cream vans? If you want to speak to a councillor: call them or email them. If they don't reply - then moan!

Halfords has gone to a retail park model (and is actually half a bike shop), and M&S has flailed. Retail is a brutal business. Landlords' rent expectations are ridiculous. Consumer tastes have changed. Demand has changed. And more than a decade of austerity has entrenched poverty in places like Peckham. Rye Lane isn't just a story of "council mismanagement" or pedestrianisation - it's a 19th/20th century retail streetscape that doesn't match 21st century needs.
  17. It would be nice to have a pub that was just a straightforward boozer. I used to go in The Castle occasionally but it stinks, and the Palmerston is too expensive and bourgeois. The outdoor space at The Plough is fine. The inside is a bit gloomy. I went in there to watch a big rugby match and there was only 1 or 2 TVs (both in the main space, and nothing in the empty side room), and they kept the music on! I hope the pub does do well with its outdoor seating - but not at the expense of late night noise pollution to neighbours.
  18. "Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor used to dine here when they had a house in Dulwich during the 1960s" Anyone know where they lived?
  19. I hope that councils aren't so overwhelmed or exhausted that pubs, bars, whoever are allowed to do whatever they want as long as it is outside.
  20. I hesitate to cast aspersions on the vocabulary of a published author, but those were his words. Kids, don't meet your heroes.
  21. An unmasked Frank Furedi, coming out of Boulangerie Jade, explaining to his companion how "Flat White" surpassing "latte" as the preferred term for a milky coffee is part of the "crusade against whiteness".
  22. I see Rightmove's little map describes the area as "South Camberwell". 😆 I just passed by today for the first time and ages and noticed how close they are to completion. A million quid seems like a lot to be so close to the station but I suppose they are four bedroom...
  23. Oh look, another greenwashed front group. Is this OneDulwichFairAir...?
