  1. I got to say I would intrigued but wouldnt have the nerve to walk in without feeling judged by passersby. I can imagine it would quite popular with the younger folk in ED.
  2. Well said TonyQuinn. At the end of the day we have to deal with it, as I have said earlier it certainly has shaken me and my better half. But we have to move on I guess but I suppose being able to talk about it helps us to get over it.
  3. mmm I wouldnt go that far. I think the chances are a bit better than that. Still I could always wear a bullet proof jacket
  4. I agree with most of the above. I am probably over-reacting to the whole thing and it wouldnt be half as bad if was somewhere else but still it was a shock when it is on your doorstep. Hopefully the police will find the perpetrator and then we can move on.
  5. With all due respect to PeckhamRose I am not that naive to think crime doesnt happen outside of London. I dont recall an execution style murder in Hitchin the last time I was there. I am not so much worried about myself but my pregnant girlfriend and unborn child are my priority. Some of people seem to have a 'get over it' attitude, well come and see me when you have a dead body virtually on YOUR doorstep! Its not pleasant for anyone trust me! After all this my condolences go to the family of the lad who was murdered, its a terrible thing, but it represents the world we live in I am afraid.
  6. I understand what ED mummy and Asset are saying but when I have a pregnant girlfriend and shootings takening place around you, you do get a bit of a reality check. I am not normally one to be chased out of an area but this was literally on our doorstep. I'll let the dust settle and see how we go. Like I said I do love the area but with a family on the way your perspective does change.
  7. The shooting happened right outside my flat. I have to admit I am really worried as I have a young family and it really brings it all home. I was looking to buy in this area but I think those plans have now changed, probably move out to the sticks when our lease expires, its a shame as I love the area but I cant afford to take the risk when I dont have to. Referring to the post above about treating people. Quite clearly certain people dont give a stuff about anything except themselves, it kind of crosses the line when certain people are murdering their enemies!
  8. I would have just thrown her into a cab and got her home. I have done that once in the past and I have to be honest it did cross my mind to take advantage but that little angel on my shoulder told me not to ( I think its called a conscience!). The thing is you never know if one of the rugby blokes may not have been so honourable!
  9. We are with Virgin Media broadband and had no problems.
  10. Lozzyloz, I think you'll find knackered cow said it... Anyway, everybody just make sure you have dead locks and that'll keep you safe from WHOEVER!!!
  11. Read into it what you like!! I think that pretty much confirms what knackered cow said about people changing sudjects on this forum!
  12. Nice input Honk, talk about useful!! At the end of the day any description is better than nothing. If several homes get robbed by a black guy with dreads then its a pattern and that will help the police catching the guy(s). It sounds like the PC Police are around. Some people really need to chill out
  13. I agree with Knackered cow. This thread is about break ins and not about colour. At the end of the day he is what he is, either black/white/yellow or what ever. We have to identify the burglars who ever they are!! And not be scared of the reprecussions!! We have deadlocks with the internal knob and we never leave the door unlocked when we go out, even if its around to the local shop.
  14. I normally ride/train in all conditions but not today, if the ice doesnt getcha then the idiot drivers will! Is it really worth it, I paid ?1 and got the bus to work and that'll be the best ?1 spent all year. I have my first child on the way so I dont want to take any unecessary risks. Also there will be black ice you cant see and thats even more dangerous!!! Saying that I may ride tomorrow
  15. I gotta say though the Beetle was reliable. But come on it did look cool especially for an 18 year old and mine went like stink!
  16. My fav car was my first. A 1985 Beetle, a fantastic car, started in all weathers but handled like a sod!
  17. So thats were I have been going wrong in the past. If I gave a lady a compliment I would have been regarded as a nut job....Just as well my girlfriend takes compliments well. I would like to raise one point. If the guy was a danger why would he be running around with a wheely suitcase, isnt it not a bit of a hinderance?!
  18. Hi Ocean, Welcome to ED. We moved into a flat on the other side of the lights a couple of weeks ago and loving it. The only problem I have is living on Barry Road, it is a lot busier than expected but the flat is lovely and transport links are great. In the short time we have been here we have met some lovely people so settling in quite nicely. I cant wait until summer arrives so we can make the most of the parks and late nights. I am sure you will love it here
