  1. we went to that panorama one near arcachon as well - it was lovely
  2. cool -- my number is 07968 173715. we can aim for a train from either clapham junction (9.12 or 9.42) or Balham (4 minutes later). if we meet in east dulwich at 9 we should get to clapham in time for 9.42. Malcolm
  3. i was hoping to get out to some off-road stuff (but nothing too severe). if you've got chunky tyres a hybrid should be OK. How about this for a plan: meet in east dulwich early (about 9.00) and ride to clapham junction, then get the train to box hill (about 45 minutes) there are a few routes around there with big hills, so I reckon on doing less than 10 miles. Unless anyone has any other suggestions?
  4. hi mike, how about this sunday?
  5. also that's a bank holiday - any of the 3 days are good for me
  6. anyone else up for a ride this weekend? either saturday or sunday
  7. I can't remember how far east I went along the river - not that far beyond Thamesmead I think, so I don't know how far the path goes. Westbound you can start at putney and go out past richmond, kingston, hampton court and keep going - all very nice and green. I keep meaning to go all the way out to windsor and then get the train back - I've heard that Windsor great park is very good for cycling
  8. thanks, but i'm going down to sussex on sunday. thames path is quite a nice ride - mostly flat and traffic-free, but it's a bit industrial and smelly in places...
  9. I've finally got round to replacing my stolen mountain bike, so I'll be keen to get out into the countryside soon. How about this Friday (it's a bank holiday)? Alternatively any of the weekends in April should be good.
  10. sounds good - how about something over easter weekend?
  11. I've been thinking about replacing my stolen bike for a while now, I might have to get on the case...
  12. the website was broken, but is fixed now. There was a strange problem for people using Internet Explorer, but it should be fixed now. Also if you try this link it should work. also, as elaine said, Paypal take a cut, so if you can go into the shop and give cash that's even better. or maybe buy some records.
  13. oh sorry - really should read things through before sending them. Saturday morning. godstone isn't as far away, not sure how harsh the hills are, but the description says "the shortcut helps avoid some of the big hills, so there are no excuses" hmm...
  14. morning. how about the godstone route from the book that i posted above (but with the shortcut, so it's only 14 miles instead of 23, and avoids the worst of it)? meet at mine at 9.30 again?
  15. thanks for the suggestions. definitely up for doing that again - saturday 23rd somewhere and saturday 30th at Oxted should be good for me. if there are 3 of us up for a ride, maybe we should pick somewhere doable by train just in case we can't get 3 bikes on the back of the car (which i think is probably quite likely)
  16. thanks Jim, I'll investigate that The other places I found in a book, that I thought might be good and not too far away were at Box Hill, Godstone and Sevenoaks I scanned in the maps - they're big files, so be patient if you click the links: http://www.red-route.org/sevenoaks.jpg http://www.red-route.org/godstone.jpg http://www.red-route.org/box-hill.jpg
  17. yes, lets do saturday 9th, any suggestions of location?
  18. how about either saturday 9th or saturday 23rd August? not sure where, but let's start looking into that
  19. I'm not particularly fit either, and a lot of weekends are booked up, but I was definitely planning to go on this ride at the end of august, and hopefully some before that if I can. http://evanscycles.co.uk/ride-it/oxted I've got a rack for my car that can hold 3 bikes, so it's just a question of figuring out where and when...
  20. Is there anyone out there who wants to do some off-road cycling? Maybe go out to the North Downs while the weather is good - nothing too hardcore, though. I need to get some use out of the suspension on the mountain bike I got last year - I put slick tyres on it, and I've only used the knobbly tyres once.
  21. I go to borough and back - not very far, but so much quicker by bike than bus, and less soul-destroying. Here's the route, on a very good website called bikely, where you can plan and share routes: http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/107901
  22. what a lovely bloke - hope he does very well
