The food is labelled 4m because the manufacturers can get away with it currently under the law The nhs advice is 6m Although there is some research going on into whether earlier is better for families prone to allergy I did read that it was the EEC discussing whether to ban advertising baby food as suitable for below 6m that led to the letter in the BMj last year or whenever it was that rehashed any justification for the earlier date I don't really see how the sitting up thing can be relevant ... You'd baby could have good head control but duesnt mean their gut is ready for solids My own view is that 6m Is much easier ... And introducing wheat etc quite soon after that, while still bf, seems to be a good approach
Have you invited him In to the loo When you go, to help you flush after, etc? Some books about the toilet to discuss together? There was an episode of 'come outside' about sewers ... Wonder if it's on you tube How about watching 'flushed away'
My 3.5yo twin 1 did that too (mostly at school!) It was very worrying ... The best advice I can give is to take the Pressure off and reassure him That lOts of children take a while, that it doesn't matter and you love him and you will help him learn Just keep trying, eventually it will click It's worth sitting him On the loo or potty to Read a story at likely poo time Apart from that just give it time, go prepared One poo in Pants per day isn't a big deal He will get there Bet within 4w he will get it
The cd version I have includes the original words then, helen We listened to it when I was little, now I think of it maybe the record came fr My aunt, they lived in nz for a few years
I would see the gp. I know someone who was reassured by the hv, wrongly, and her child was quite seriously affected, by the time they saw the gp and got referred, there was permanent damage to her son's neck (torticollis plus flat head)
I know a few people with twins whose babies have had it, linked to torticollis I think (heads turned to one side due to being squashed in the room) I believe that a flat head needs to be checked to determine the cause, and any treatment should be early. Before trying to use pillows etc yourself, I would go and get it checked.
Has to be something I can bear to listen to over and over, the short ones For long journeys I like a good box set - we listened to 8h of 'ingo' on a trip away .. Actually it was 2008 so child no 1 was only 5 Gosh He was quite little to concentrate I think if you find a story they like and you all cOncentrate How to blow up tollins is brilliant cd Also bad jelly the witch (spike Milligan)
Both We have mog for short journeys and the just so stories Horrid Henry Spike Milligan (!) and a few others For long journeys Swallows and amazons Enid blyton Loads in the library Older son at aged 6-7 liked the narnia set Now likes eoin colfer etc For a reception child I can recommend mog and horrid Henry Roald Dahl too
I have read that getting outdoors in the afternoon can help with early waking Or 'wake to sleep' - go to him and stir him shortly before the time he has been waking, then resettle him. Sounds counterintuitive but I know people who have had success with it. Sounds like he is coming fully awake before his last sleep cycle of the night
The stage where they are dropping the nap is just awful My advice: try for a nap every few days Don't plan too much ... Have quiet time Don't execr dinner to be eaten well Try a bath is very whingy late afternoon Open the wine at sunset!
