  1. Does anyone get the 8 or 8.15 or 8.30 from Peckham Rye to Canada Water? Are the trains generally overcrowded or bearable? Do they run on time? I could get on one stop earlier at Denmark Hill but always hear awful things about the jams in the ticket area and stairs.. Would I be better off getting the bus to New Cross Gate from where the trains are more frequent? Or would it make no difference? Also, what's the change on to the Jubilee line like? I've done it in the day and it's pretty painful squeezing on to the escalators, I have images of absolute mayhem at rush hour... Wouldn't mind driving if car parking prices weren't so prohibitive. Thanks for any advice - it will save me doing a practice journey! (Apologies for cross-posting, think I put it in the wrong section before)
  2. Just got this in an email from tfl - bit weird as I don't live near Forest Hill but thought it might help those of you that do... I am writing to let you know about travel disruption in the Forest Hill area, while Thames Water carries out emergency repairs on a collapsed sewer. This will start from 21:00 tonight and is expected to last several days. The A205 London Road will be restricted to one lane in both directions at the junction with Devonshire Road, outside Forest Hill station. There will be no right turn from the A205 London Road into Dartmouth Road. Road users are advised to avoid the area. Bus routes 176 and 197 will be diverted via Sydenham Hill and Kirkdale and will not serve London Road, Forest Hill station and Dartmouth Road. Customers are advised to use nearby stops in Lordship Lane or Kirkdale. To check for future updates on the roadworks, please visit tfl.gov.uk

  13. Hi, can anyone suggest somewhere in central London to buy ankle weights? The sort that wrap around your ankle with a velcro fastening - and ideally somewhere cheaper than John Lewis where they cost ?20. They're for my dad who needs them for knee exercises - and he likes to see before he buys so I can't get them online... Many thanks
