  1. we're thinking of having Keefs stag do on the Goose GReen round about, so please don't start excavations until after Ocotber DM :)) [but I like the memorial idea]
  2. sparks up. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. *wheeze* *cough* mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
  3. what a great video (for wolf parade) I'll shoot, you'll shoot, I'll shoot, you'll shoot canon. Oooh, they could use it in an advert!
  4. you mean you made the universe's laws last night whilst on the rum? No wonder rum's such a grand thing. Sho, tell me, what did you do with regard to virus' and their life span? [so many questions I could ask, and go with that one. Streath.]
  5. I ignored the wiki and went top brow: New Scientist
  6. Ok, my brother who studied this kinda shit (so must be an expert) says: "some viruses can be dormant for very long periods because they have no metabolic activity so don't require any food - as long as they don't get too dried out- although I think the black plague was caused by a bacteria but they can also stay inactive for long periods such as viable bacterial cells have been removed form pharaohs tombs". Every website I've read [and I'm pretty sure about this] said the Black Death was a virulent, so it could be that he's talking a crok 'o shite.
  7. Yeah, Piers is kept on a very tight leash, never stays up late listening to music and playing the Wii.... Anyhoos, just thought I should point out that the Hoopers doesn't take cards, so bring plenty of cash peeps.
  8. oh - you said that - I didn't get past the fishing!
  9. I know, they've been digging around my parents/I.o.W, the whole area up round the north sea was land too (fishermen occasionaly fish out artifacts. So you could walk to France, Germany, Denmark, Holland etc (well, I think that might be it). I also think the river that carved out the channel, and became the North Sea was the Rhine.
  10. keef will be there :)-D
  11. Some further information on the early geology of the world. Pre Gulf Stream I'm fairly sure most of northern Europe was iced up, along with North America. The great lakes are what's left after glacial retreat [though I may have to google check this]. No idea how much of Europe was frozen though.
  12. So, our leader, our treasurer and our army are all in the hands of the Scots? I'm running for the hills before the hoards arrive!
  13. as far as I understand, MPs don't answer letters themselves, but forward them to the relevant Gov Dept, or local authority etc, so delays are probably at their end. She is useless though. (Imho). Blears *shudders*
  14. Hell - we have a 12yr old as out foreign minister! http://conservativehome.blogs.com/torydiary/images/miliband_david.jpg
  15. Of course I believe. Tsk. Anyway, that animation's a little lacking in detail, this map, by Geology.dotty.com, seems to sugest that the continent spent a lot of time down that way. Am a tad upset my last site had a Pennsylvanian and Mississippian continental age, find that a bit much. btw - did you (or anyone) listen to in our time this morning? It was on mass distiction during the Pangaea period (global warming seemed to be a factor). You can listen to it on the beeb website.
  16. My head can't cope with this, it's far to much for a pre midday conversation! However - I think I'm getting all muddled between Mike's comment that global warming is the ice melting and others comments on rising sea levels. I'm no expert bu, a quick glance at this website suggests that most of the polar ice caps (in antarctica at least) have always been coupled with land, so I'm not sure Piers' comment would be right. Secondly - the melting of the ice isn't global warming, but a result of it. This will raise sea levels, wont it (more water in the sea), but isn't the worse effect the affect this will have on the planets weather? You know, destroying the gulf stream etc? If I'm talking twaddle, feel free to ignore, but if you know and feel like, please explain!
  17. Now I'm a little confussed. When we had a super continent, there would be no gland under the artic/antartica, but would there not have been ice caps on the earths poles? Reducing sea levels? Though maybe not at today's level. Does that make sense? I can't tell.
  18. sorry catgirl - think it's more my mid week mind sog that made me unsure!

That's made me rather happy. but I'm not sure why. Think it might be something to do with the change in fortunes between fish and meat, but can't place it! Cheers :)
  21. I'm confussed (it doesn't take much, and I'm not sure the picture of the mallets helping!). Who use child labour, or just porely paid labour in sweathouses. I know about Shite mark, but are we saying Topshop and the White peeps do to?

I haven't really had much since I were a wee lad, but I didn't think about it the other day. Now I know (after reading four pages of love) we're in the lounge, can I ask, why do we eat fish on Fridays? What's God's plan with that one?
