  1. James, where did you get 5 days from? I emailed to request collection of my old boxes, it took a week to get a reply and was told they'll be collected within 3 weeks! And don't even get me started on the ridiculous inefficiency of everyone needing to contact southwark individually to request for old boxes to be picked up. Why did they not do the leafleting a few days ahead of delivering the new bins rather than at the same time? They could have then asked people to leave old containers outside for collection as the new bins were delivered (teams delivering bins could transfer any recycling into new bin and take old box away) People not wanting new bin could have left a note saying so and team misses them out. Would have saved half the borough contacting to remove old boxes and the other half contacting to remove new bins, not to mention all the journeys made to carry out these collections. )
  2. thanks for the advice, I'll look into both options!
  3. My daughter is now too big and heavy for her bouncy chair but seems to much prefer sitting in a chair to the floor (although she can sit up) I've had a look online and the baby bjorn babysitter and the doomoo seat are both ok up to 2 years. Wondered if anyone had used either and can give an opinion? The babysiter looks great but can't quite believe it would still fit a 2 year old? Or can anyone recommend an alternative to these 2? And if anyone is looking to sell one of either I'd be interested! Sorry for such a boring post!
  4. Slipping through my fingers by ABBA. Bawl.
  5. You need to go there initially for a blood test and sign some forms and collect bottles. Then you just express at home and store in the freezer and call them when you want them to collect. They don't answer the phone but leave a message and they'll call you back.
  6. My 7 month old was very constipated after starting on solids a month ago. I did all the follwing whihc seems to have worked although it took about a week before she was going regularly and without screaming every time! Stopped giving her bananas and bread gave her extra water and diluted orange juice, especially with meals still breastfeeding so gave her a few extra, short feeds so she'd get some more of the watery foremilk made meals with prunes or prune juice in gave her pears or pureed pear She's much happier now!
  7. I'd be interested to see stats on how many non Catholics have been offered a place at any of the catholic schools in the past few years..
  8. Steve did some painting for us last week. An outside wall and a bedroom He did a great job and was very friendly and polite as well as very reasonably priced. He also turned up when he said he would when he came to quote and both days he was painting.
  9. Going to the O2 arena on Wednesday night and thinking of driving. Website says visitors to the arena must use car park one and pay ?25. But car parks 2 and 4 are pay and display and much cheaper. Is there anything to stop me just using one of those? If questioned I can say I'm going to the cinema/ for something to eat. I see there's also an ncp carpark nearby which is ?8. Has anyone used this in the evening? Thanks P.s. If anyone else going on weds and wants a lift let me know!
  10. We flew with easy jet last month and I breastfed my daughter on take off both ways and landing once and was fine. As others say you can feed them with the baby seatbelt on (although probably not the safest position which probably why they say this as I guess they need to cover themselves) Have also fed my older 2 on easy jet take off/landings in the past and never an issue.
  11. My 6 month old also often has her best and longest sleep in the morning. My older 2 were the same with the morning nap gradually getting shorter (naturally) until about aged one when they both moved to just one sleep after lunch. I know it's stressful when you're going back to work anyway and trying to work out how your baby will cope with a new environment and routine but try not to worry as it will work itself out and she will be fine. In my experience, most childminders tend to go out in the morning to playgroups / parks etc and then have a quieter afternoon but your daughter would be able to sleep in the buggy and I guess her morning sleep will just gradually tail off as she gets older anyway. Why don't you talk to the childminder about it - I'm sure she (or he?!) will be able to answer your concerns, they will have dealt with similar situations before and can discuss with you how they plan to work with / around your daughters needs.
  12. I'd love to bring my son to this. Timing good for me as also need to do school pickup at 3.30
  13. And for all you Mog and TWCTTea lovers, there's a Judith Kerr special exhibition at the bethnsl green museum of childhood, think it's on until sept. Museum quite easy to get to via east London line from honor oak.
  14. Cuddly Dudley No matter what The very noisy night Loveykins and the mrs armitage books by quentin Blake The elephant and te bad baby
  15. I've got a phil and teds and carry everything I need in the basket. Fits a changing mat with nappies and wipes pack, change for both children, suncream, water and quite a lot of other bits and pieces. Can be a bit awkward bending down to pull bits out if holding the baby but is ok Te trick is to have lots of little packs/ bags rather than one big one with everything in I also leave the very bulky raincover at home unless is raining.
  16. Can you use a lascal buggy board with a quinny zapp extra? Or can anyone recommend a decent but cheapish buggy that has a parent facing option but also works with a buggy board. Thanks!
  17. I have to say I don't really understand why any parent wouldn't want their child's school to be outstanding or at least 'good'. An outstanding school is one which enables all pupils, of all abilities, to achieve their full potential and do as well as they can do which is surely what we all want for our children. We're not just talking about the clever ones doing better here - in fact the recent southwark review of GOodrich concluded that Goodrich deals well with the brighter pupils at present - it is the less able ones who are not served well by the school, which is a concern. I've been to Fairlawn and the atmosphere there is just as warm and friendly as GOodrich, with equally happy and balanced pupils so it's not as though educational excellence has to come at the expense of this.
  18. You could try microsports. Google for website they have classes at hsbc sports ground inbeckenham (this side of beckenham) think classes one hour and they try out lots of different sports. V active anyway.
  19. Take him swimming? Then he's likely to have a good afternoon sleep and you can catch up on your early start too!
  20. Just spoke to rail enquiries and seems some trains running from Peckham rye and others are on bus replacement. Not sure how this can be?. Can anyone confirm? Eg she said 14.56 and 15.26 are running to lbridge ok but the 15.14 is a bus.
  21. People used to do this at crystal palace too and it drove me mad. I used to use the cubicles anyway and hand people their stuff when they came knocking.... Didn't go down too well but they were in the wrong in my opinion! The pool did put notices up eventually after one particularly annoying groupbof mums started leaving buggies in there too so nobody else could actually get in.
  22. Think moat ppl on 29 points but if you've a lot to loose then you get more. Fully breastfeeding is 14 extra points.
  23. I know not what you asked for but there's some lovely campsites in the Loire. We stayed at etang de la breche near saumur 2 years ago with 2 children aged 4 and 1 at the time. It's a castels site (fab French campsite chain, all top quality) and has a beautiful setting, greT play areas and brilliant pools with water slides and a great splash pool with lots of little slides etc. Also a bouncy castle handily situated near the bar/ restaurant so you can get a beer and sit and watch the children bouncing! We stayed in one of the campsites own mobile homes, very newly fitted out, clean, modern and very comfy (ours was 3 bed think they have 2 and 3 bedders). There's several good campsites round the region. We usually use either the eurocamp or castels websites to choose a site and book direct with the site rather than eurocamp.
  24. Thanks all. I thought the bridge were strict, sure a friend told me they weren't let in there with 3 children. I'll call and ask. Did email dulwich college sports club once to ask about joining and had no reply. Do you have contact details? Will try Cp and battersea!
