To gently train sleeping in own bed you might use technique known as gradual withdrawal. Every night you sit a tiny bit further from your child's bed , until the child is able to stay by themselves. Do it as slowly as needed, even if it takes 2 weeks. If the child is unwell, it's normal that they would love to stay close to you.

My teenage found WE one year at M&S (Oxford Street) and the next year at Premier Inn. Each of these establishments were very accommodating.

Birthday party ideas 12years of age
Capitals replied to Capitals's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Thank you to everyone who made some suggestions. Surprisingly both cinemas (Peckhamplex and Picture House are not an option, as they are either shut or show just the Shrek. -
Hi, My son's birthday is coming up soon. He would like to invite a few of his friends. Unfortunately Picturehouse is not showing anything other than Shrek at 10.30that day. I'd be grateful for any suggestions for 12year olds in the area. Thanks

I second that. Progress with 30min a week can be slow at times. Our son does the lessons twice a week and moves up every term.

Advice please: Dulwich Dolphins or DCSC
Capitals replied to birnehelene's topic in The Family Room Discussion
In addition to Dulwich Dolphins, there is also a small club based at Seven Islands Leisure Centre called southwark aquatics sc. You might find that SASC meets needs of your child. My children used to swim with them and they loved it. -
As a parent of swimming children as well being involved with a swimming club, I'd say it's not worth it. Children love swimming together, they learn from each other. Unless a child has a specific issue to overcome, I'd say it's best to find the right class for the child. A quiet word with a member of staff with regards to the best swim teacher could help you find the right one. Teachers do work differently and your child might prefer another teacher. As well as this, when learning to swim, they progress at different rates, some faster than others. Peckham has actually some good teachers too so it might be worth looking for the right one.

In the end we have used Hepburns. They were efficient, fast and charged ?5 per item.

A man dressed as a cyclist (asking for money)
Capitals replied to Capitals's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
He does look convincing, in fact he must be pretty well off. He looks very much unlike someone in need of financial help but a true misfortune fellow. -
It looks like a very complex case.

Tonight for the second time a saw a man. He looks like a wounded cyclist. He asks for some money so that he can go to chemist. He has got a leg, that looks wounded. He asked us for money, but I met him just a few weeks ago doing the same. I told him that I'd seen him sitting wounded a few weeks ago and he told me it had been his twin brother! He was sitting just outside East Dulwich Station.

I understand what are saying however how would you justify the fact that the parents were not allowed to take the boy home to die. Even now the judge has to decide on this matter. Why judge? Why doctors prevent the parents from taking the boy home?

thank you everybody for all the suggestions.

Hi, My daughter has been accepted at 1 of the universities abroad. She has now been asked to send them certified copies of her certificates (A levels results). How do I go about getting them certified? Any suggestions would be really appreciated. Thanks

They were not selfish. I know of at least 2 cases where the medics were wrong. In each of them they told the parents to expect the worst and to stop the pregnancy, yet in each of this case, the child was later born healthy. Parents of Charlie wanted for him what's best. Nobody knows what would be best, nor how he would have responded to the treatment. Nobody.

Advice needed Travelling long-haul with a 3yr old
Capitals replied to Rose79's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Not sufficient sleep beforehand so that the child fall asleep during the flight. Also a trip to whsmith to buy colouring books,a magazine with gadets, even better chosen by the child, so that he/she will be excited to get it. Favourite snack also would be handy plus an I pad with a favourite cartoon. -
