  1. Living nearby, I'd high hopes for the place. However, it was an odd space - it didn't feel finished and needed greater investment. Shabby, but not shabby chic, so didn't pull in the local families. Beer selection didn't rival places like the Watson General Telegraph and the completely unpredictable presence of food was a killer. I popped in for a quick lunch and a couple of drinks on a Saturday afternoon, but the kitchen was closed. One pint and a packet of crisps later, I packed up and went home. It's a shame to see the place not succeed, but it just didn't work either. I'd be all over the Barcelona Beer Dispensary...
  2. We had a credit card go missing recently, as well as the corresponding letter with the PIN. The thief wracked up loads of transactions before the card was stopped. We alerted the bank and the card was stopped and replacement cards for the account were ordered. The replacement cards were ALSO stolen and have been used locally - largely Orpington and Bromley - for cash withdrawals and trips to McDonalds. Is this a sorting office or postman issue?
  3. This is fantastic news. My wife and I often cross Dulwich Common to get to Dulwich Park and it is perilous to do so - this can't come soon enough.
  4. New signs have gone up on the site advertising for the site as a leasehold pub - does that mean the site?s future has now been determined?
  5. At least we can get our driveways tarmaced in the meantime. Joking aside, are the local councillors and Dulwich Estate aware? If we can't change a porch, I don't see why these 'caravaners' have carte blanche. It is, however, a damning testament of the utter ruin that the pub has been left in for too many years. Are the Dulwich Estate and local authority even aware of the 'broken window' theory when it comes to neighbourhood decay?
  6. Apparently a fire engine, ambulance and a load of police offices seen actually along Cox's Walk too. Any ideas what's happened?
  7. Hi The chipboard floors in our early 2000s build house are really noisy and I understand that the previous owners have some leaks, so the flooring will have warped. Can anyone recommend someone to install some new chipboard flooring? Thanks
  8. Hi Can anyone recommend a company for supplying, preparing the surface and laying turf? Thanks Peter
  9. Hi - just bumping this up the forum, should anyone have any tips. Thanks Peter
  10. Hi We've moved in to a property where the conservatory hasn't been looked after terribly well for quite some time. I've read about conservatory servicing and was wondering whether anyone could recommend a good local service? It needs more than just a window cleaner - the whole thing could do with a decent freshen up. Thank you
  11. Very good point - I certainly avoid crossing at that junction anyway, so would be even more keen to if I was on my way home from the pub...
  12. Something definitely needs to be done about making the junction safer for pedestrians - trying to cross at the junction is perilous and seems to require both timing and luck; there seemingly isn't even a slight delay to allow pedestrians a window of opportunity. The boarded up pub is an utter eyesore. I was hopeful when I saw the court order for evicting squatters, but still nothing has been done. Why can't we just get the owners and operators of a decent pub chain, like The Three Cheers Pub Co. who operate The Rosendale etc., involved?
  13. Hi Having recently moved in to the area, I'm in need of some new carpets and flooring for my house. I've been recommended K2 Carpets in distant Swanley, as well as EJ Carpets in Forest Hill. Can anyone else vouch for these companies, or offer up further alternatives? Thanks
