  1. Another thumbs up for Fernando, who I've used a few times now to weed, prune and and generally sort out my garden. Fernando spent 3 hours this morning weeding and tidying up the front and back gardens. Always a pleasure to deal with. Happy to recommend. He can be contacted on 07946 757938
  2. Another recommendation for Aston! I contacted him due to the recommendations here and would happily recommend him to others. He undertook the work to a high standard and helpfully supplied the items needed for the work I needed doing. Would use Aston again.
  3. Another recommendation for Fernando, who came over the Easte weekend and worked hard to get the garden sorted for the spring. The main big job was to cut down a large bramble bush growing up behind the garage at the end of the garden. This involved climbing over a fence, up on the garage roof and removing (and then replacing!) an old side gate with very rusty hinges. Fernando went the extra mile and worked really hard. The front and back gardens now look great. I've used Fernando before and highly recommend him.
  4. I found Fernando via EDF based on these recommendations. He spent almost 5 hours yesterday sorting out my garden for Spring and it looks great. I am very pleased with his work and plan to get him back in another month or so to help with maintenance. A really sound, friendly and helpful guy and so I am very happy to add my own recommendation. Thanks Fernando.
  5. As an upper chamber, the HOL is entertainingly archaic. I mean, what's with the Lords Spiritual in this day and age? Even if one of them now is a woman... Still, time for an elected upper house. But well done Lords and Ladies on shafting Osborne. Shame though about the tampon tax!
  6. Thanks for the feedback. I have decided to go with a Nest based on the overall positive reviews online. Hopefully it will live up to the hype without feeling decadent! Salsa boy, the dead thermostat was a British Gas branded Drayton. Right, off to John Lewis to collect that Nest.
  7. Wifi enabled smart thermostats - Nest, Hive, Tado or similar... Have you got one? Would you recommend one over a non wifi smart thermostat? My clearly rubbish generic non wifi so called smart thermostat has died after only 2 years use. Considering replacing with a more expensive wifi version so that the heating can be controlled remotely via phone/iPad app. Anyone got one and do they actually save energy and hence ?????
  8. I use Mason & Green. Nice guy, has always been reliable and very well priced.
  9. ClaireClaire Presumably upon diagnosis you were referred to a Dietician and provided with specialist follow up? Are you getting your GF staples on prescription? I was diagnosed in 1995 and found regular sessions with the Dietician invaluable as was The Coeliac Society. The range & availability of GF food and awareness of Coeliac Disease now is so much better than years ago. As someone else advised, the best advice is to try to make your kitchen essentially gluten free, with the family eating GF meals as much as possible. It's fairly straightforward after a while. Ask your GP for a referral to Dietetics at KCH.
  10. I've been to both Aquashard and Hutong bars at The Shard several times, on a Friday or Saturday evening. Never had an issue with getting in and have always managed to get a seat and table in Aquashard bar. The service charge thing can be annoying... They charged it even when I ordered at the bar. I refused to pay it on that occasion but happy to pay it when having table service. The cocktails are nice. A bottle of Veuve Cliquot will set you back around ?70 (excl. service).

I believe the UKIP manifesto proposes a statutory duty upon UK women to clean behind their fridges on a quarterly basis... Or face being publicly branded "a slut".
  12. Blue Monday - New Order Sun comes up, it's Tuesday morning - Cowboy Junkies Wednesday morning 3am - Simon & Garfunkel Thursday - The Pet Shop Boys Friday on my mind - The Easybeats Saturday night's alright for fighting - Elton John Every day is like Sunday - Morrissey
  13. C4 news report tonight. Tilbury Docks Afghan Sikh refugees taken to Barry House via NASS whilst their asylum claims are processed. Looked like there was good support provided from local Sikh community.
  14. Tried the new Honor Oak on Friday evening. We were there by 18:30 and it was really busy. Inside full of grown ups, garden full of families & kids. I liked it but unfortunately when we tried to order food at 19:30 they had stopped taking orders as they were too overwhelmed! And I really wanted the Lobster Burger... The restaurant bit looked nice. It was fully booked out so we didn't even get to see the menu (different from the bar menu). Didn't get to see the Whisky Room either but look forward to paying another visit. So we went off and ate at Babur. Which was expensively delicious!
