  1. -People that spit in the street. -People in the office that don't say "good morning" back to you, or at least acknowledge that you've greeted them. -Cupboard doors being left open (I am clumsy...need I elaborate on that?!) That's 3 for now but I am sure the amount I can think of is mood dependent! ;-)
  2. I am hoping to see some of these Classical Statue poses on Friday. BB and I were discussing them yesterday :)
  3. Oh dear. "Pandora's Box", and "can of worms", are terms that come to mind! How hilarious! I like the breakdancing suggestion. What about "popping"? That seems to be the latest dance craze...
  4. Haha! No don't be! I just had a horrific email through at work about a woman that axed her husband in the head and he lived! Hence, the "axe".

Ha ha! This thread reminds me of when I was in High School; passing notes with friends in class to see if those more "connected" than us could score any weed. The thrills! The excitement! The ensuing stoned stupor that inevitably followed after smoking our spoils... the confusion in the morning when there was nothing in the fridge/pantry/larder, for breakfast..... ah, those were the days. :) Sorry I can't help you GreenTrees, I'm a relative newbie in the area. But, if you're ever in Australia, ;-)
  6. Some of the humorous comments on here were perhaps slightly in bad taste. Being followed is terribly frightening.Back in Australia, I was stalked by a man for 3 months, so I know how utterly terrifying it can be to be approached by a stranger, or indeed, someone whom you are acquainted with. There is now not a day that goes by that I don't check behind me when I am walking to see if I am being followed; and I always make a mental plan of what I would do if I were to be confronted by someone again. I will not walk in the dark by myself anymore either; I just feel too unsafe. Making a joke out of something bad is fine, and can lift the mood. I just don't feel that this is one of those times. I hope your friend is alright, halicon. :) and feeling safe and confident trudging the streets again.

And being that I am home, wallowing beneath the misery of my body's resident (for this week) influenza, I can safely say that your little rhyming gem has pepped me up considerably :) I loved the "Upsetting the Banker en-route" bit. Lovely stuff SJ

I can be swayed by either mood to write. Some of my writing is very dark, and quite odd when I look back at certain pieces now. But lately I have been inspired a lot by feelings that nature gives me, seasons, moods etc. I've also formed a (healthy or unhealthy!!) attachment to sonnets; they completely fascinate me. The only form of poetry that I love more is the Villanelle. But I always get tangled in the structure. 19 lines, two rhymes, 5 tercets and a quatrain....then this line has to rhyme with that line recurring here blah blah. It does my head in! Give me good old Iambic Pentameter any day! On a separate tangent.... TL I completely love the feeling of congestion you have managed to capture with not only your choice of words, but the structure of your piece. If you glance at it on the page, it even looks like it is about lack of space; without having to read a word. It makes me think about my journey on the tube in the mornings.

A Sonnet For England In grey morning light the world was asleep, As the birds in the trees sang their bright song. The chill air grabbed hold and forced me to leap, Icy floor under foot, skipping along. Warm cosy kitchen, teakettle whistling, Rubbing the chilblains out of my fingers. The hairs on my arms, frightened and bristling, The smell of toast in the air still lingers. Tea in hand, toast on plate, I about face, Padding along bare foot back to my bed. Gardens, under a blanket of white lace, Cats persistently call out to be fed. The yellow sun glows low in the pale sky, I curl up happily in my bed, and sigh.

What were you up to last night that saw you home at 6am! Lucky you with the exciting social life :) S
  11. I am at work and not feeling well, which is about as good an answer as you'll get! I wanted to put up a photo but my stupid desktop won't let me save an image to it because of, oh, I don't know, government stuff I guess. So I can't show you all a photo of how I am right now :( Maybe I should go home early? Hmmmm....decisions decisions.
  12. I was told to check this debate out...my goodness....the word 'raging' comes to mind. I'm a fence sitter..... I do think there's something out there bigger than all of us, but in the religion/scientific game, I haven't decided what team I'm batting for yet; to be honest, I don't know if I'll ever choose a side. Why should I have to? Why can't we just take what we like from both sides of the story, and believe in that? Well, I guess we can. Obviously, everyone has a right to believe what they want. One thing I know, is that as wonderful as religion is for some people, and as much joy as it brings to their lives, it's also brought destruction, desolation and misery to the lives of thousands for centuries. The biggest wars in the world have been fought for "god and country". That aside, I'm enjoying reading all these posts!
